Title: Zakk Wylde
Post by: Carlos_f_Rose on May 19, 2005, 07:32:49 PM
Guys... I dont know whether you have discussed about this in the past or not... but I think Zakk Wylde was the man instead of Buckethead...

Ive known about his work and his attitude and he was so damn perfect for the job....

Now that Buckethead is gone... He should go into GNR...

Zakk jammed with the band for a brief period in 1995 when Slash was still in the band and it didn't work out then, so I don't think it would work out now.

Zakk has too much on his plate already with BLS and Ozzy.

Its not that it didnt work its axl didnt get back to him on it so then he moved on.

He's got a great sound and stage presence.

Zakk is overrated, plain and simple.  Plays the same riffs, writes shitty songs, and can't sing to save his life.  I am bery glad Axl came to his senses and didn't get back with him.

Are you insane? The guy is just AMAZING! When you listen to him you think there are 2 guitars but there is just him. And what about those harmonics??

And he is cool, at least used to be when he was young. Great performer, he could run, jump, do that weird walk and still play great. One of the best guitarrists ever. Period.

well he dont do non of the running and that funny walk no more. Hes to big i think for that now, as in hes all muscled up.

But he still plays badass.

All I know is that Zakk has the Attitude required to be a member of GNR... like it or not

Sorry Carlos, I have to respectfully disagree.  I've tried to like BLS.  I've bought 2 cds, listened to them initially, and then put them up only to sell them back.  It's not horrible, I just don't crave to hear it.  He's fine for Ozzy but I don't think GNR would have worked, obviously it didn't.

What BLS albums did you buy, gilld?  Cause the first two (Sonic Brew and Stronger Than Death) aren't nearly up to par with his really good ones (Blessed Hellride, Mafia, 1919 Eternal).  Especially Sonic Brew, that album kinda sucks.

Zakk Wylde is a fucking idiot. I have no respect for that guy at all after reading his latest interview. A few years ago he was talking shit about Dave Grohl now his new interview he states how much he digs the new Foo Fighters disk.

Also he states how the song Shotgun Messiah was written about Scott Weiland, only a few years back Zakk was calling Weiland a pussy, what a hypocrite. I do respect him as a musician but as a person the guy is totally a dick. Go have a beer Zakk.

Shotgun Messiah

That would be Suicide Messiah. ;)

Who cares if he talks a lot of shit and he may be a hypocrite, to be honest i dont give a fuck. If he continues to write and play kick ass heavy music, i for one will be a very happy man.

Zakk fucking rules.

He makes metal for people who don't like metal. It's easily digested by the mainstream crowd. I don't think he would help GnR as much as Buckethead, though. It's not his style.

Zakk certainly shreds with the best of them, but he seems to be too concerned with being a hardass and being a tough guy to actually write good songs. It's a shame it didn't work out with him and Slash in the band because that would've been killer!

You have to take two things into account regarding comments made by Zack Wylde...

1. The guy always says what's on his mind.
2. The guy drinks A LOT of alcohol, therefore his mind is quite eratic.

makes me wonder how he still plays and stands up while on his guitar.

Because he lives through his music. He lives through Rock.

I also wonder how Chris Misfit stands up full stop! ;)

Thanks for the heads up. : ok:

My comments were a bit harsh. I do respect the guy as a musician no doubt he can play , as you can see by my mistake on the song title i am not the biggest fan. My remarks were just for the fact the guy is always slagging off someone and in his next interview he is kissing there ass, i guess he was fucked up and came to his senses by the next interview.

i agree in that zakk is not a great guy in person (as of meeting him a few weeks ago) - though musically he is amazing.  i just dont see his sound fitting into what I've heard of new gn'r and the old tracks too.  but hey, you never know!   :smoking:

Zakk Wylde has commented on a brand new interview with Ozzy Osbourne in which the legendary BLACK SABBATH singer revealed that he is currently seeking a new guitarist for his solo band.

Classic Rock caught up with Osbourne last week at the Slash & Friends gig in Norway, where the whispers backstage had guitarist John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) lined up as a possible replacement for Wylde.

Classic Rock caught up with Osbourne last week at the Slash & Friends gig in Norway, where the whispers backstage had guitarist John 5 (ROB ZOMBIE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) lined up as a possible replacement for Zakk Wylde?

"Well, I'm getting a new guitar player as we speak," Ozzy told Classic Rock, "and everyone has been saying to me for a long time, 'Get Johnny 5!' And I tried him at one time and I didn't really give him a chance. We'll see, I don't know. I haven't fallen out with Zakk, but Zakk's got his own band, and I felt like my stuff was beginning to sound like BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. I just felt like I wanted a change, y'know?

"I've got a guy from Greece coming in ? not the musical, the country of Greece ? but I'm not going to say too much about it, 'cos I don't know myself at this point.

"Zakk came down and [recorded] a bunch of stuff [for my new solo album] and I don't know if I want to use it but I've got it there if I do. And this Kevin Churko [producer] is a bit of an all-rounder so I'm getting back to basics in some respects. One thing about a guy who can't do all the finger-tapping stuff is that he plays better on the riffs 'cos it's not all [hums riff for 'Iron Man' followed by over-the-top widdling]."

Wylde, who originally joined Osbourne's band in 1987 as the replacement for Jake E. Lee, posted the following message earlier today (Friday, July 10) on his Twitter account, "I'm doing BlizzCon [convention in Anaheim, California] with [Ozzy] in August and supposed to finish up the [new Ozzy] CD in September?. This [Ozzy's comments to Classic Rockis news to me." He added, "I haven't heard anything about this. Until I talk to the Boss I don't know. I love Ozzy."

Wylde was replaced in Osbourne's band by Joe Holmes from 1995 until his return in 2001.
