Their latest album is superb, and they are a decent live act - there first two albums have some of the best singles i've ever heard

Overall, one of my fav bands of the mo, and i'm glad they havent carried out their threat to disband

incidently, Stone Sour's debut is most likely my fav album of the last 6 years, Slipknot without the filler and excesses that alienate people

Dislike them

My taste is GnR and less heavy music like Radiohead n indie stuff, whereas othe rpeople on the board seem to be GnR n heavier stuff

Thats Untrue.

i like a varied amount of music, going from gnr, to punk, to indie, to metal, to industrial, to stoner rock. all sorts.

I heard one of the singles off Stone Sour's album (the single I think) and it sounded pretty ordinary.
I read in an interview Corey comparing it to Metallica & AIC, but I thought it sounded pretty bland going by that single I heard.

What's the rest of the album like?

I'm not a Slipknot fan at all.

I thought Stone Sour was alright.  Some of the heavier stuff got repetitive after a while, though.

Mallcore is right. The only track I've heard that has any redeeming value is "Heretic Anthem".

I have to be pissed off or driving to enjoy Slipknot.

Funny Slip related story:  I used to work in a record store and when it was close to clsing time and we would have a bunch of people in the store, we'd throw in some Slip and just watch the people start filing out.  So they are good for clearing a crowd!

Worthless.

At least try to keep track. It's almost smite worthy.

STONE SOUR/SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor was interviewed by 89.5 FM WSOU Seton Hall's Pirate Radio last Friday (April 6) before STONE SOUR's show in New York. A lucky contest winner was also on hand to ask some questions. During the interview, Taylor apparently stated that SLIPKNOT will release at least one more album and that they should begin recording before the end of the year.

Slipknot - do people still give them time despite the fact they never make good music?  I think the drummer's decent but that's all the credit they'll get from me.

corey's voice is amazing, stone sour has many good songs.

slipknot's case is different, many people don't take them serious because of the masks, all this "teen" stuff, but their last album is absolutely amazin, high NIN influence. Can't wait for what's next, more Vermilions 1/2 please.

One thing I don't get here is that people get upset in these threads when someone doesn't like any given band. Why can't fans and non-fans just say their piece. I love VH and NIN and sure as hell don't give two shits and a flying fuck if someone goes into one of those threads and has something nasty to say.

Title: Re: Slipknot
Post by: CheapJon on July 29, 2008, 05:23:01 PM
it's annoying when you come and repeat your shit, it don't make any sense to reasonable people to go someplace and tell people what they like is shit, that's actually kinda retarded

Title: Re: Slipknot

No, it?s retarded to have fan-boy only threads, blowing bands, saying how great they are.

Title: Re: Slipknot

Its the most simple and catchy song on the album.

The other tracks, damn you get about 5 different riffs and break downs through each.

My favorite song is probably the first proper track on the album, that song fuckin kicks the shit out of you man. Its very Thrash Metal mixed with those slipknot drums and rythyms.

Slipknot was always shamefully bad lyrics and half a dozen unneeded band members

...but they still managed (perhaps thru blind luck) 3-4 good tracks per album

This new album sounds like Stone Sour b-sides....typical '00 generic american metal

corey`s stone sour influence is definitely noticeable, but since i`m a fan of both stone sour and slipknot, that`s no problem. doesn`t mean it doesn`t sound like slipknot anyways...  been pumping it in my car for 2-3(?) weeks now and i`m not planning to stop having it in heavy rotation anytime soon! : ok:

I love this band, they're easily in the top 5. (GnR, Slipknot, DragonForce, Anberlin, Daft Punk). However, I find it hard to believe their new album "All Hope Is Gone" sold more and placed higher than Chinese Democracy in the first week.

SLIPKNOT began its first solo headlining tour in support of the band's latest album, "All Hope Is Gone", Friday night (January 23) in St. Paul, Minnesota. Ross Raihala of TwinCities.com writes in his review of the concert, "The 10,230 fans who filled the general-admission floor and lower half of the arena were certainly ready for the band's first gig at the X in almost four years, moshing and cheering throughout the evening, shouting along to the Grammy-nominated single 'Duality' and basking in every last chunky riff. Heck, some of them were so excited, they even cheered while the roadies did a pre-show soundcheck behind a curtain.

"Indeed, all those things that seemed so ridiculous about the band in the beginning ? from the slasher-film/SM masks to the logo straight out of a 1950s horror comic ? now seem like the least unusual aspects of SLIPKNOT. What's most amazing these days is that they can still figure out how to use all nine members, which include a pair of additional percussionists, a DJ and keyboard/samples player alongside two guitarists, a bassist and drummer. All that extra manpower rarely felt superfluous and, if anything, added an extra layer of muscle to the music. The lack of pyro and special effects may have been to save a little scratch in these lean times, but it only further focused attention on the music itself."

The group's setlist was as follows:

01. (Sic)
02. Eyeless
03. Wait and Bleed
04. Me Inside
05. Before I Forget
06. Dead Memories
07. Left Behind
08. The Blister Exists
09. Frail Limb Nursery
10. Purity
11. Everything Ends
12. Psychosocial
13. Duality
14. People = Shit
----------------------
15. Surfacing
16. Spit It Out

Slipknot kick ass, I saw them back in October. I was 2nd row, pit, right in front of Corey. The show was insane, probably the best show I'd seen before I saw GNR. Been a fan for a long time, about 7 years now....

I've got their first three albums and want to check out AHIG at some point. Iowa's definitely my favourite so far. Some people can't bear the masks or their image but at least they look interesting, unlike a lot of modern bands. People = Shit is the shit. :headbanger:

Police: SLIPKNOT Bassist Found Dead - May 24, 2010
According to the Des Moines Register, Urbandale, Iowa police are investigating the death of SLIPKNOT's bass guitarist at a local hotel.

Paul Dedrick Gray, 38, of Johnston was found dead at approximately 10:50 a.m. today by an employee at TownePlace Suites (pictured below), 8800 Northpark Drive, police said.

There was no evidence of foul play, police said, but the investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Toxicology tests will be done.

Back in 2003, authorities agreed to drop drug possession charges against Paul Gray in exchange for Gray's acknowledgement that he was on drugs when he was involved in a minor traffic accident (Story#1, Story#2) in the summer of 2003 in Des Moines.

Des Moines police arrested Gray on June 1, 2003 after his car collided with a car at Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Carpenter Avenue.

A police report at the time said Gray "had impaired balance, slurred and dull speech, and extremely sleepy and dull behavior."

the sad part is there are no new rockstars around to carry the torch, just a bunch of pussys like All Time Low.

SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor says he doesn't want to make any rash statements about the band's future following the recent passing of bassist Paul Gray and is focusing, for the time being, on promoting "Audio Secrecy", the new album from his other band, STONE SOUR.

"It's kind of a gray area right now," Taylor tells in FMQB Productions' radio special, "Inside Stone Sour: Audio Secrecy". "Everybody is still feeling it. It's too soon to tell.

"I'm very conflicted about whether or not I want to do anything with SLIPKNOT, because to me, Paul was such an integral part of the band. He was the whole reason that the band was the way it was... Paul was the glue and the orchestrator behind some of the best music we ever wrote. He was the soul of the band.

"I don't want to make any statements that I'll look like a fool in retrospect, but to me, right now, it just doesn't make sense," Taylor says. "Until it does, that's the way it stays for me. That's why I've been saying it's too soon to tell... you never know."

Corey Taylor talks about his future with Slipknot

May. 13, 2011

A lot of people ask Taylor if he's excited to perform with Slipknot again. His answer is no, and he's approaching the shows with caution. Just because Slipknot is playing a few gigs doesn't mean a new album or world tour is in the works.

"I hope it goes well, I guess, but at the end of the day, it's about Paul and what he meant to this band and the fans," he said. "People need to stop being so overly eager and let us take this one step at a time. I'm not a guy you want to force into a corner. I'll walk away."

TAYLOR UNSURE SLIPKNOT SUMMER SHOWS ARE A GOOD IDEA

He tells Caller.com he's still struggling with Gray's death and fears Slipknot's summer shows could be his last with the band.
Taylor explains, "There's a part of me that's ready and there's a part of me that's not.

"I have a lot of trepidation about it (concerts). I don't know how to feel. I know a lot of the guys in the band are trying not to show that side, and I can't."
Gray will be replaced by the group's original bassist, Donnie Steele, when it plays festivals in the U.K., Belgium and Brazil - and Taylor is not convinced the gigs will work without his late bandmate.

He adds, "He's irreplaceable. Without Paul Gray, there would have been no Slipknot, and I mean that sincerely... It's strange for me to think about the future of Slipknot without him.

"This tour coming up is definitely going to be like baby steps... It's going to be a long time before I feel OK about it. I'm not saying that I'm not open to it. I'm just saying that I'm not there yet, and I don't know how long it's going to take me to get there. So we're just going to have to see what happens. Only time will tell."

From an interview with Joey Jordison:

Slipknot ready for Australian fans to go beserk at Soundwave

February 24, 2012

Jordison, who has performed in Murderdolls and with Metallica, Korn and Satyricon, says while the death of Slipknot bassist, founding member and his best friend Paul Gray in 2010 definitely changed the band, they wouldn't split up any time soon.

"It's so tragic and it's horrible, but life has to go on and the last thing (Paul) would ever want is for us to throw in the towel," he says.

"I miss my friend very, very much and no matter what he'll still be on every Skipknot record, spiritually.

"And we have a lot that we've written together that hasn't seen the light of day yet, some monster riffs.

"I will miss him forever but you can't sit and wallow and make excuses for not continuing Slipknot."

Seems singer Corey Taylor hasn't always shared that sentiment, with rumours circulating he wanted to quit the band.

Jordison is quick to hose that down that kind of talk, saying the band was working on new material with Taylor.

"I've been in and out of the studio for about six months now that's on the Slipknot record and also on some solo stuff as well. He (Taylor) does want to keep doing it."
Whoa, wait, solo stuff? Way to change the subject ...

"Yeah, I'm gonna be forming a band in the near future with a lot of the material I've been writing lately,'' he says.

"I don't want to release too much but I have been in the studio and I think people will be pretty surprised at what I come up with it's heavy! But (Slipknot) is all I care about right now. We are one of a kind, for sure.

"No one will ever be like us"
