Title: tonights recording [May 14th]
Post by: dankrass on May 15, 2006, 03:05:17 AM
Turned out quite well.... very little crowd noise in my area. Great instrument seperation and such, but why cant they get axl's vocals mixed right on the whole show? its about 50/50 they do a good job. very FRUSTRATING.

ill post an mp3 sample in a few minutes in appetite for collection

torrent on wednesday

yep, + he blew out his voice obvious...... Still a nice performance on Better!

The Blues rocks! So raw...

His voice is waaaay better then 2002  : ok:

I hope he can pull it of tonight again! Good choice from Axl to not doing Madagascar and IRS. He can barely keep up in Better. (still a good performance tho!)

Thanks million times for uploading

Axl's voice kicks ass ? . He sounds great on the blues ? raspy ?not boyish ? ?Go Axl !!! ? It's hard to hear him on " Better" ? ?He needs to kick the sound crew's ass.

Man Better is a hard song to put of a live ... ?
AxL ?sound amazing in the metal part hit all the notes but in some part  It's hard to hear him on , he is out of time or is the mix thing .

sounds like a mix thing to me. its almost like the voice levels are being adjusted during the song.

It's not just the levels of the mix. You can clearly hear that he indeed blew out some chords friday.  Still a great performance! I have nothing but respect for what he's doing, keeping up the shows Axl!   : ok:

Thanks for the recording dude!

Are you people on fucking crack? ?Let's call a spade a spade here. ?Axl's voice sounds terrible! ?Especially on "the blues". ?He sounds like a scared old lady trying to scream for help to "get up" in the first half of the song.

I'll admit that it gets better toward the end, but the first half is horrible........ ?Aghh! ?

The Blues is alot different. I dont like the new intro. This song has always been Finck's shining moment. I hope the 2002 version is on CD, but its not likely. Also, I dont think Better sounds all that great live. definitely a little room for improvement. But this sounds fantastic. Thanks alot to the guy who uploaded it. :smoking: : ok: :peace:

Axl's voice is royally fucked on first half of The Blues, but it definitely gets better as it goes along.  I love what they did with the intro - That's gonna sound spectacular on the album.

As for Better, wow. What an awesome song live!! Love the transition after the "water drain" sound effect. Axl's vocals rule, and the guitars are on fire in that one.

I also don't like the new intro to The Blues. I loved the guitar at the begining of it in 2002. I thought it was Fortus who was ripping it up?

lol at all you experts who say you can tell he blew out his voice.... you dont know shit.. his voice sounds the same.. you cant tell any fucking difference.. stop trying to pretend like your a fucking expert or whatever... you dont know shit about shit.. he didnt blow out any vocal chords.. the song sounds the same as it did on the demo.. the only difference is the tempo on the blues is slowed down a few bpm.. He's singing with a rasp now that is what is important . Who gives a fuck if his voice cracked in certain spots, be thankful to Baz ?that Axl even showed up . ? These are warm up gigs ?his 2nd show in 4 yrs. ?Axl hasn
t even been on a real tour in 14 yrs ?(2002 was a joke ?that doesn't count) ?. ?Nobody has been more critical about Axl's voice than me ?but lets be fair. ? RASPY VOICE ?IS ALL THAT MATTERS!! ? everything else will take care on its own once he has worked his vocal chords . ?Professional athletes have a preseason to get ready for battle, ?singing is no different. ?What I can't believe is ?how some people thought he sounded good in 02' ?. ?And now that his voice is better ?you bash him?? ? ?hilarious .

really?????? it sounds so forced down your throat.... the part where they go "what this means to me is more than you belive"...

the guitar and drum and bass ..its sooooooooo forced and hard.. it sounds shitty.. this version.. it bad ass... seriously listen to the part where they sing "What this means to me"... its tempo is way slower...

me too... the vocals are the same.. but seriously the temp is went from about? 95 to 30 bpm.. the song is new.. the way you dont have to wait for the "wonder through my days" the first verse.. the song is more clear and slow and sounds less forced than before... its amazing... i hope they get this song correct on cd coz its bad ass... even the last solo.. the guitar solo.. who did that???????????? fuck this is amazing..... beyatches

Richard plays the last solo. I'm still not sure about this new intro, but I really prefer the slower version than the Vegas/Rio one. The bass Tommy did in Rio sounds really good, tho (in the NY 12th boot I could hear some bass lines in the ending like this one he did in Rio.. hope it's indeed back!).

It's not just the levels of the mix. You can clearly hear that he indeed blew out some chords friday.  Still a great performance! I have nothing but respect for what he's doing, keeping up the shows Axl!   : ok:

lol at all you experts who say you can tell he blew out his voice.... you dont know shit.. his voice sounds the same.. you cant tell any fucking difference.. stop trying to pretend like your a fucking expert or whatever... you dont know shit about shit.. he didnt blow out any vocal chords.. the song sounds the same as it did on the demo.. the only difference is the tempo on the blues is slowed down a few bpm.. (btw that means beats per minute) for you jack asses....  you stupid shit he didnt blow out anything... listen to some music before you comment on it... dumb fucker...

I'm no expert thank god. I'm a big Guns fan! You can tell he has a a bit of a hard time pulling Better off. He does great on The Blues.....About Better....well.....he can barely keep up....it's still a great performance tho! You don't have to be an expert to hear that. No need to call me names on it.  And I'm not bashing anyone, I'm glad his voice is back!

no way im calling you any names man.. sorry.. i just think on beter he sounds like the demo... im glad his voice is back too man... you rule.. its all good, sorry im an asshole sometimes.. but i love discussing with you all... peace.

no problem dude, peace!

You cannot tell the difference between an MP3 encoded at 320 kbs/48 hz and a FLAC file of the same song.

And I don't have room to store 50 MB FLAC songs on my hard drive anyways.

the Hub makes it so much easier too. Torrents, Trackers, blah blah, blah....the shit they want you to go through just to get an account is ridiculos, you gotta download a bunch of different shit, wat too much work and time to get an audience recording anyways.....MP3 = click and play. So hopefully someone who is patient enough to get the torrent will also be nice enough to make them MP3's :) Thank you in advance.

Maybe *you* can not tell the difference? Maybe nobody cares how much space you have on your hard drive?

You people are getting a top quality bootleg. If you don't like FLAC then don't fucking download it, or simply convert the files once you do. But please shut the fuck up.

When you compress a file to FLAC no information from the audio stream is removed from it, unlike what happens with lossy formats like Ogg Vorbis and MP3. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLAC for a more technical explanation.

Is it really that hard? Registering takes like 2-5min :hihi: And you can get almost every Gn'R-bootleg from dime.. I think it's fucking great. And if someone really believes that .mp3 sounds as good as .FLAC, open your friggin' ears man : ok: There's a huge difference..

like i said technically, even tho it has a much much higher sample rate, it does not sample 100% of the audio (not that you will ever notice this)  :)

My thoughts on MP3.
IT sucks. I get angry when my shows are converted to MP3. So much dynamic range is lost. Especially on music such as GnR's.

I hope you all can download the FLACs.  I dont want MP3-sourced CD-R's being traded; what a rip off of everything.

I didnt spend thousands on equipment and make a trip to NYC so people are getting subpar duplication.

But there's no way around it; for some reason the GnR community is still 'in the dark' about why they NEED to be using FLAC.

no problem.
happy to share.

taping does nothing to my concert experience.

when I dont tape a show (very rarely), i just stand there and enjoy the tunes just like when im taping.

i dont sing along; thats stupid. im paying to hear the artist.
i dont call people on a phone; extremely stupid
i dont leave during the show to go buy booze; i can do that any other time

i paid good money to see the concert. i will see the whole thing and catch every note, no matter if the tape is rolling

Kickass job on recording this bootleg, but man, Axl sounds awful on 'Better'. It's like he's stopping to catch his breath after every second word. The Blues isn't so bad, but definitely not great. Someone else mentioned above that Osaka '02 is Axl's best performance on the song and I agree 100%. I think the guitars sound fantastic on both of these tracks though.

For those of us who have old, shitty computers with dialup who can't deal with torrents, is there a way to get this stuff?

Thats what I wanna know.

Sure. Get with a fellow trader who downlaoded the FLACs. Set up a Blanks+Postage trade with him.

Send him 2 blank CDs and a couple bux to ship them back to you.

Usually good traders are always down todo this kind gesture for you.

I will probably take on about 5 or 6 B+Ps for each show, but wont discuss that til I post the torrent announcement (read: please dont PM me asking to get inon the B+P until I announce it.... any early inquires will be ignored)

It's so easy to convert FLAC to WAV to burn onto a cd.  I can't believe some people here are cutting on FLAC files.  It's as good as it gets.  It if takes up too much room, download them, convert them to mp3 (if you can really live with that) then delete the FLAC's.  It's not hard.  I have a FLAC plug in for my winamp and and SHN and APE plug in as well.  They work like a charm.  WE DON't WANT MP3'S OF THE SHOW IF WE HAVE A CHOICE!!!!  People need to understand that.  FLAC files are smaller than WAV files by the way.  They don't take up that much room.  I have a 500 GB hard drive though, so who am I to talk??

Not all of us are computer experts.  :-\
If it's really not a big deal, hy dont you please convert them to mp3 and upload them?
mp3s work for some people who dont have the software you mention and have less audio quality demands.  : ok:

I'm not a computer expert by any means.  You can download many free FLAC convertors on the internet.  I have paid nothing for any of mine.  They are very easy to use.  And why won't I upload the mp3's for you??? Because that takes a lot of time and everyone here is capable of converting them.  I promise it's very easy to do.

Thanks dankrass. I actually have a FLAC to WAV converter, but I can't download torrents. I usually download from archive.org, which distributes FLAC files in WINZIP or WINRAR, not torrent. So, when something goes torrent-only, I'm left out.  : ok:

I'm more than willing to do 10 B+P's of each recording for those who have 56k or for whatever other reason can't download these. I live in the US.

iTunes uses QuickTime to play files so what you'd want is a QT plugin. You can find a beta version if you google for "quicktime flac".

Ok, I got FLAC converted to AIFF, no problem. Now, on my G5, can I burn the AIFF format onto a CD? Is it just like making a regular CD? In the past, when I tried  to burn a CD I got a "data file." How do I tell the computer I want  a music file, or  at least something other than data?

Thanks in advance!
