If my name is not added at the top does that mean my details have not been registered for the pre-sale?

I like a lot of others am worried that I might have put my e-mail address in wrong.

Is there any way to check the details or for someone to confirm?

Nah, the people at the top of the thread are just the users that have posted they're going in this thread.

As for getting your email address wrong, you'd best be asking the mods.

Jarmo did say that a confirmation e-mail won't be sent for registering your details.

I saw Velvet Revolver there, on 10 Jan 2005 and the doors opened at 7:30, but the queue was massive by like 6:30. I might be gettin there bout 6. We should have a pre show party for the board members to celebrate GNR's return to the UK ?: ok:

I guess a lot of people will try to go there, but the venue is a bigger then Hammerstein, so maybe it's easier to buy a ticket...

(Hi, I'm new here, been a fan since before I was in double digits after a friend introduced me to Appetite when we were at primary school!)

Anyway, my point is (and annoyingly, I can't make Hammersmith, just hoping that Manchester show happens) that Ticketrush are also doing a pre-sale tomorrow. For anyone wonder, Hammersmith curfew is 11pm. That doesn't mean that they can't just pay the fine to the local council and play later, of course.

"GUNS N' ROSES - PRE-RELEASE FROM WEDNESDAY
Guns N? Roses return after nearly 20 Years to legendary London venue for a very Special Download Warm-up Show

London Hammersmith Apollo ? Wednesday June 7th 2006
With special guests Avenged Sevenfold

Be the first to get tickets for this historic event! Tickets will be available from 9am only by calling 0870 4000 899. "

Anyone who doesn't believe me, check out the Ticketmaster.co.uk page for the band, and you'll see that it references Ticketrush in the blurb at the top of the page. Good luck tomorrow.
It also provides a link to http://www.ticketrush.co.uk/nokia/events/event_details.aspx?rid=183372 which should go live tomorrow to buy tickets. You'll need to be registered with Ticketrush, so I'd register now if I were you!

How'd you know it's going live tomorrow? It just says Friday 19th for me... Hope you're right!

There was a logo on the email I received (I get Ticketrush emails every Tuesday evening) which has a splash across it which says "from Wednesday" - don't know if they're referring to the phone or web link. Incidentally, they don't always go live at 9am, it can be a bit shambolic.

Stupid email is in Base64 so I can't get the link to the image. :(

Edit that - here you go

Nah, totally separate. They do this every week with different artists. Just change the number at the end of the image and you'll see this week's other bands. They send a thing out each week with the artists they have pre-sale tickets for. It replaces what used to be GetLive's "Hot Ticket Tuesday" emailing. It's a Nokia/Clearchannel/Ticketmaster thing from what I understand.

I spoke to a real guy too. Had a couple of automated options, then it put me on hold, then got through to a sales guy. I suppose it might depend how busy they are at any given time- I rang at 8 sharp.

Just need the email for it to seem real now.

So has anyone got any good pictures of the Apollo? Would be great to see where it's going to be.

It's a really small venue which is cool because you can get to the front easily, also it's easy to go out and use the loo then go back in. ?The only problem is that the sound quality is not that great. ?I've seen around 30 concerts at this venue, including Velvet Revolver, RCHPs, BB King, and Jane's Addiction etc. ?If you're at the front, avoid standing right in front of the side speakers, because you'll go deaf, the bass actually will blow your hair back. ?View from the circle is good too because it isn't too far from the stage. ?Beers are expensive and served in plastic cups. ?The hot dogs taste awful. ? Hmm, can't think of much else. ?I never go early to wait in the queue, because it's fairly easy to get up front, if you don't mind not being at the barrier. ?It's only the first three deep at the front that you have to queue foe, and those people will get crushed anyways.

I hope it's not less than 7 days... I need them to be sent special delivery from my home in Ireland to where I live in Cambridge in time for the gig! Had to have them sent there as that's my CC billing address.

Though that said, people going to Download and the Dublin gig have tickets already or being sent out, so I imagine they'll be here before then.

It wont be that late, cause its in a residential area, the latest a gig can finish is 11.30pm max and all the crowd must be out by midnight at the VERY latest. Their strict there, could cause a stir if they come on late!

If I manage to buy a ticket, I sure will be there, but I don't know if I'll be able to buy the ticket. Is there a website to connect to friday at 9am, or is it only possible to do it by phone directly at the venue? I haven't seen anything on any website (ticketnet, ticketmaster etc) last time I checked (yesterday)...

There is another pre-sale by Ticket Rush tomorrow morning, but I believe you have to register today.

Yes, I haven't got an email yet either. I just rang them on the automated line- 08702424442- to confirm. All seems fine! Though I still object to paying nearly ?10 charges on the ticket just to go into Ticketmaster's pockets.

Can't wait for the show now. Only 3 weeks to go!

Hey all

I'm sure some of u have read already, but I finish work at 4.30 in Bristol and so driving is really my only option. But, I'm worried all the spaces will be gone by the time I get there (its gotta be 3hours at that time of day at least huh?)

Thought people could mention car parking facilities, post links to maps, and talk about train / tube and other trabel options here....

Any help would be welcomed! I also hope to somehow meet some of u for a quick beer - but only the 1 cuz I'm driving :-(

There's a parking garage right next to the venue. ?I drove in on Sunday night and parked on the street a few blocks away (9th Avenue between 29th and 30th Street). ?There are parking spots to be found on the streets of Manhattan if you look hard enough. ?Obviously, if you're driving something like a BMW or Mercedes, don't park on the street.

Ha! ?A couple things threw me: ?(1) I read "Hammerstein" although he clearly wrote "Hammersmith"; and (2) when he said Bristol, I assumed he was driving in from Bristol, Connecticut. ?Sorry!

if you got an email for standing tickets the ticket type must be "general admission"
if you have a seat or row number then they are sitting

I haven't got an email from them.

But I just rang Ticket Master, didn't talk to a real person, and from what I understood, they are sitting tickets. Strange, because she also said they were General Admission tickets!! How can this be? And also, if they are sitting tickets, does this mean I can't go to the Standing Stall?  :crying:

I think this will answer many questions.

Quote
Seats to buy or Avoid in this Venue

A "virtual tour" of the auditorium and foyers is available to view at www.getlive.co.uk. Go to "Quicklinks" on the top right of the screen, and choose the venue name from the "GetLive Venues" list in the drop down menu that appears when you click the "V" at the edge of the "Quicklinks" box.

Stalls? ? Dress Circle? ? Notes

A new layout, from 17th September 2003 allows the stalls to be replaced with a standing area that will take audience capacity at the venue to around 5000 people.

If "all standing" is used, Stalls tickets will generally be marked "GA" for "General Admission". They are often sold on the Ticketmaster system as "Stalls Standing", just to be clear, though!

STALLS? seating plan
The Dress Circle overhangs the Stalls at row U. The view of the top of the stage is only affected very slightly from row AA back.

When seating is used, the stalls are split into sections by aisles. The front section is divided off by an aisle in front of row J, and contains a central and two side blocks. The middle section from row J to R has four blocks - two central, two outer.

The rear section has six seating blocks. It is divided from the middle section by an aisle in front of row T, except in the two central seating blocks, which are connected to the middle section by? some seats instead of the aisle. This little link to civilisation has been designated row S!?

The front section one central and two side blocks. Of these theatremonkey rates central block seats in rows D to H particularly worth buying. The prime rows are F to K (moving into the middle section of seating a little), offering a fine view and a good rake. Then try rows L to M, then E to A in that order before choosing the inside aisle seats in the front section.

The two front section side blocks have been moved closer into the centre of the venue, so more seats have an improved view. Seats closest to the inside aisle have a fair view, but for the same money, choose the central blocks. Closer to the ends of the rows, some seats are angled so as to restrict your view into the rear quarter of the stage.

Restricted view seats in the front block are: row A seats 1 to 4 and 25 to 28; row B 1 to 4 and 34 to 37; and row C seats 1 to 4 and 37 to 40. In row A seats 3, 4, 25 and 26 may be worthwhile if you are trying to sit as close to the stage as possible, and don't mind the slight lack of view. The box office note they can also be very noisy as the speakers are often placed here...bring earplugs is the advice!

The middle section again has two central and two side blocks. In the central two, rows J to M are worth buying. Row J seats 11 to 36 in these blocks combine good views and extra legroom. The rest of the central blocks offer just average value, try for the front section seats mentioned above first before taking rows P to S. To be fair to the venue, all rows in the stalls feel relatively close to the stage considering the size of the place, but if all seats are the same price, why not sit as close as possible?

The two outer blocks in the middle section offer poor value as again they are mostly outside the proscenium with a poor viewing angle.

The rear section is split into six blocks, with row S in the central two blocks of this section connecting them with the middle section of seats. Again the architecture allows them all to feel fairly close to the stage and, if not able to see performers faces, at least to see more than just a moving matchstick.

The two central blocks are pretty reasonable to sit in. The last two rows, AA and BB can offer particular value at a low price for those like theatremonkey who feel in need of a bargain. Take these before the back of the Dress Circle for the same money, though watch for row BB seats 34 to 45 which have the sound desk behind and could be a noisy place to sit. The rest of these blocks are also fair value.

The next two blocks out from the centre have also benefited from being moved slightly closer into the middle. When the venue is filling up fast, they are worth a thought, though they do provide a slightly distant and off centre view of the stage for the same money at the blocks next to them.?

Finally, in the corners of the rear section are the blocks of seats furthest from the stage. They are close to the exits and block 12 is near the ladies toilets, 17 near the Gentlemen's. These are the advantages. Take these seats only if you really, really must.

Behind the rear blocks is a section for wheelchair users. It has two chair spaces, with two companion seats beside them. These have an acceptable average view, with the advantage of being slightly elevated. See notes.

Behind this is space for two rows of 60 people to stand. Arrive early so that you don't have to stand behind the sound desk!

Legroom is good throughout the stalls, best in rows A, J and in row T seats 1 to 19 and 40 to 58.?

DRESS CIRCLE? seating plan
Called the CIRCLE in this theatre.

This overhangs the stalls at row U. It is divided into front and rear sections by an aisle (and barrier) in front of row G. The front section is split into five blocks, the rear into six. There is a low safety rail at the end of each aisle in the front blocks. The monkey has had no complaints about the view being affected by these.

Smaller children may find the sloped wall at the front of the circle a little high to see over if in row A or even B for the smallest. Those over about 5ft tall should be fine.

In the front section, block 9 rows B to F and the six seats just off the centre aisles in blocks 8 and 10 offer the best value in the circle. The rest of the seats in all blocks are fair value. The distance from the stage means a comfortable viewing angle, but theatremonkey feels for the same price that the stalls blocks 23 and 24 offer better value for money, being closer to the action.

In the rear section rows soar towards space with a dizzying rake, a remnant of this theatre's previous life as a cinema. The barrier in front of row G may annoy some shorter people. Theatremonkey prefers the stalls blocks 14, 15, 19 or 20 to any of these rear blocks at the same prices. If the choice is between? stalls blocks 12, 13, 16, 17, 18 and 21 or the circle it becomes less clear cut. Circle blocks 2,? 3, 4 and 5 rows G (if the barrier is not a problem) to N are preferable to stalls blocks 18 and 21, but in the circle row O back is a long way from the stage so the rest of the seats are a choice between distance, view and comfort. The stalls is closer and more comfortable. The circle has a wider view of the stage. Theatremonkey takes the stalls, accepting both options are not great.?

The two corner blocks in the circle 1 and 6 are worth avoiding.? Far away in the corners of the theatre the viewing angle is poor and the value worse. As the last seats available take the centre aisle rows L to P then rows G to J before anything else, but prepare for disappointment.?

Reader Robbie feels:
"Block 1, row 0 seat numbers 79 and 80 which I was quite worried about (as these are right in the very corner of the circle in a place) I thought the seats were O.K. I could see very clearly. The circle isn't really that far from the stage either , the centre blocks would be better but I think wherever you sit in the circle you will have a good view, as all seats are one higher than the row in front. This means that the person in front of you does not block you from seeing like it would do in Wembley in the flat floor seating."

Row K seats 11 to 13, 24 to 26, and 64 to 66 and row L seats 54 and 55 are behind stairwell walls. These restrict the view for those under five foot seven and legroom for those taller. Avoid. The other seats worth avoiding in all blocks are rows X to Z for being closer to Hammersmith Flyover than the stage. Take these last when all other seats have gone.

Standing place tickets will generally be marked "GA" for "General Admission". They are often sold on the Ticketmaster system as "Circle Standing", just to be clear, though!

Legroom is average in all seats, poor in row A and Row K seats 11 to 13, 24 to 26, and 64 to 66 and row L seats 54 and 55. Those over 5ft 10 or so may find all seats uncomfortable, alas.

Notes
Total 3326 seats, with 298 standing places are also available, 120 in the stalls, 178 in the Dress Circle, should the box office choose to sell them. When all stalls seats are removed, around 3000 standing places are created, taking venue capacity to about 5000 in total.

Not air conditioned.

Guide dog sitter available and some signed performances. Wheelchair access is via a fire door and over a small ridge to a 12% ramp into the stalls. One adapted toilet. Theatremonkey rates facilities as "trying very hard to do the best they can" in this venue - rare and praiseworthy in London.

For more information, and to make bookings, wheelchair users can call 020 8563 3806 for booking and access information and details of any concessionary prices available to them. Please DO NOT use this number for any other enquiries.

Fuller details are also available at www.theatre-access.co.uk, Artsline 020 7388 2227 email access@artsline.org.uk.

No food except ice cream and confectionery / popcorn. A reader notes that hot-dogs are also available.

Two bars, Stalls and Dress Circle.

Toilets on both stalls and circle levels at the sides and back of the auditorium.

Ok, last Saturday I was on a Hammersmith Pubs Tour. I spoke to the managers at both these places, and they will let us play our music. The Disitillers Arms is closer to the Apollo, but it's not very big. I was wondering if somebody went there before a gig at the Apollo and can let us know how crowded it gets?

I have 2 standing tickets to the London Hammersmith gig and would like to swap them for 2 seated tickets.

I know it's a long shot! - but I'd like to swap them for seated tickets in row 'A' if possible.

If you've got 2 seated tickets in row 'A' and would preffer standing then PM me and we can sort something out!

PS - probably best if we swap the tickets at the HTGTH pre-show meet. I will not post the tickets for a swap.

Is anyone else here roughing it after Hammersmith?  I'm not sure whether there's any point in me booking a hotel or not. as i am then going straight onto Download from London. And there are a couple of real early Buses on the 8th so i'm tempted to not sleep... but of course would be better if other people are in the same position, don't really know London and would be more of a laugh if others are doing the same... let me know maybe we can meet up.

Will if I can.  Coming down from Nuneaton.  Going shopping (hey I'm female, in London, with spending power.
Meeting friend in Lloyds No.1.  Not bothering with opening act as I cant stand them.  Figured I'd get there about
8.45pm.  There's a bar in the theatre I think.  We'll probably wait in there until the opening band finishes anyway.

Hellooooooooooo,

im new to this site, but a huuuuge G n R fan, and am working in the pit that evening!! despite my bosses pleas to face the crowd, im gonna watch as much as i can, so crowd surfers beware, i may not catch ya!!!

Bit of info for the venue, usually on big name acts at the Apollo they get the doors open at 1830, camera policy is strict, deffo no flash, theres no smoking on the standing area, only at the bars. Anyone found videoing the event will be dealt with by the band security, usually means film confiscated, although recent gigs have shown they take the camera aswell.

Theres a strict curfew of 11pm at the Apollo, and late drinking houses can be found either in town, or up the road at shephards bush

Tickets will be scanned on the door, via a handheld scanner, if you buy a fake from a tout they will be picked up, and youll be out of pocket, anyone selling on a ticket from a guest list, will find that ticket also useless, once it passes out the front door, it becomes void, and will not be accepted at the door.
Touts will be in huge numbers, just dont pay over the odds for a moody ticket, coz as soon as they sell there snide ones on(usually later in the evening) they do a runner, so beware!!!

Anyways, have fun u lot, coz im gonna, say hi to the pit crew, theyll be watering u all night!!!

i know in general they say no camera's but every show i've been to there i've gone in with a camera with flash and took photos, a couple of times from the rail and security didn't say a word. the security there are pretty cool from my experience, and the water is a life saver.

Got my tickets today! Will see you all at the preparty then. What time are people getting there? Going to queue for the Apollo about 6 I guess?

If there's a strict 11pm curfew, a full set would mean GnR taking the stage at 8.30-9pm. Has that ever happened? I don't think it's very likely!

another ticketmaster customer services number? : ok:

What if I dont receive tickets in the post?

If you have bought tickets online for an event that is some way in the future, chances are that the tickets may not be printed and despatched until about 6 weeks prior to the event.

Our ticketing partner usually list latest ticket despatch details on their customer help sections online. Check out latest despatch details, and if still concerned, call the customer call number:

Ticketmaster: http://ticketmaster.custhelp.com / 0870 153 5353

Hope this helps everyone  : ok:

Tix came today, woohoo. Was starting to get the fear...

there's always people smoking in there on the quiet.  Same as Wembley.  though the security at hammersmith are VERY surly.  they dont like anyone sitting on shoulders, and can get a bit grabby with surfers.  I've never had a problem with cameras before, but then this is GnR....

I dont think I'll be bringing any (fear of a whitey and missing GnR   :smoking:), though am sure someone will pass you a toke if there's one going

Hey, everyone, update from the venue, absolutely no cameras allowed inside the venue, even mobile phones will need to be switched off at the door!
Anyone found filming, or even taking a photo will have their camera/fone confiscated, again, no smoking on the floor, the band security is policing the picture taking, so be warned, just a friendly face on the other side of the barrier letting you know where you stand!!

I would say have fun, but with all these restrictions, can you?? just waiting for the day when they release a no drinking policy.

Stay safe

far too over scrupulous for my liking.  its not like people havent seen axl recently,  his pics have been all over the press.  no camera rule is getting boring....  I love taking live photos.   :(

security will be lucky if they catch more than the first few rows - this is a small venue that gets very cramped and sweaty.  if steam rises off the crowd, whose to say if its smoke or sweat  (nice!)

cheers for the update though.  i am not up for burly security hauling my ass outta there - i've waited too long for this!!!

...some of the best photos are from the first few rows....ur right about the middle tho, im not going in there hauling people out, despite my size, im not up for ruining anyones night, but venues have a policy, it must be obeyed...lol..think its a bit of overkill on their part, ive never worked at a gig yet, that has imposed a photo ban, that i havent found a pic from an hour after finished on the net, specially when im in it....ha!!!

like i say, ill be collecting the plecs, and one eye on u lot, the other on the stage.....i hear parliament now want to ban crowd surfing, im sure Axl and the boys have indulged in all the above, so why the sudden ban on taking his/the bands pic?? if i were famous, id want my ass plastered all over the shop......just go nuts, im going to.....

i'm still gonna be taking my camera down it was the same with VR strictly no cameras, but the pit security were cool about it.

at the end of the day if they take my camera it's a theft and i will report it as one.

also T&C of purchase mention nothing about photography, yet another reason i will be taking a camera.

Seeing as this is a small intimate warm up gig what do you think the chances of it being like the NYC gigs? In the sense that they'll play the 6 democracy songs, after all there will be all the hardcore fans there!

Not only fans but, as this is the first UK date and also a London one, presumably there'll be a good turn out of media people and some of his peers too, so I think he'll be out to impress and hopefully pulling out all the stops like in NY and showcasing the new songs.  Fingers crossed for this anyway!

Sad lack of pics of me I'm afraid but I'll be there anyway.

....basically when you buy a ticket for an event, youre entering into a contract between the artist, the venue and the promoter, they can change policy without notification, as youve already bought the ticket, therefore entering the agreement to abide by the set regulations for the eventthats the rules as it stand, im not going to argue every legal aspect of the night with regards to theft, coz i cant be arsed!
The legal aspect is, your camera will be confiscated if you enter the venue with it, to be returned to yourself at the end of the show, even camera phones are required to be switched off at the door.
Its an impossible task for the venue to police such a situation, and im sure there will be a few bootlegs and photos flying onto the web hours after the event, good luck to you if ya get away with it, i say!!

Me? ill be in the pit, catchin the bendy kids who decide to surf all night.

Take care stay safe

Hi, as with the bigger acts at the Apollo recently, youll be looking at GnR on stage from about 830pm onwards, as curfew for that venue is 11pm, and i guess theyll be doing a 19 song set as in NY, so aim to get there for about 730pm youll be in ok.
Another bit of info, if you get to park before 630pm at a meter, you have to pay up till that hour, parking is free AFTER 630pm and theres plenty of spaces around the venue, just dont do what some do, and load up a meter with about 12quid for the nights duration, as you only need to pay up till 630pm.

Mind you, didnt they come on stage at the Hammerstein Theatre recently at 11pm, and not wind up till 130am??

at ?1000 pound a minute fine for going over the curfew, lets hope he sells a few more tshirts if that happens here.

I dont know when I'll get there tonight - when is everyone leaving Distillers Arms to get to venue?  Dont think I'll be there before 6.30.  not planning on seeing Avenged, but to shimmy on in around 8pm.  If I get there eaerlier, will def come to Distiller's - if not, I will speak to anyone inside with a HTGTH shirt and hope to meet some of you!

(my friend is currently rubbing my face in the fact that she has an AAA pass - she has been a fan for ONE MONTH and is showing off like crazy.  Doing my head in.  If I wasnt going tonight, I would consider some very drastic action... heh heh.)

my stomach's all jumpy

It was fuicking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got to get up for work tomorrow so I'm keeping this brief.

I got there at around 8:30 to be met with a huge fucking queue so went to the pub but no-one was around. Bumblefoot and Robin had really great moments but both managed to produce the worst solo's I've heard at pretty much any concert, and the bee-foot guitar thing has moving wings!. Bumblefoot did a great Don't Cry solo guitar though but he should stay away from the Buckethead-type random noise shredding. Richard was by far the better guitarist, his solo's rocked and I was surprised by how good he was. Axl was on top form, perfect voice for most parts and Sabastian came on for My Michelle. Dizzy did a fucking cool piano solo too before leading into The Blues. They hit the stage at around 10:30 probably later which was pretty fucking annoying and the croud were pretty pissed off.

Set list I remember was (in no particular order):

Better (after he played this he said "That was off our last album!)
Patience
Sweet Child of Mine
Welcome to the Jungle
IRS
November Rain
Madagascar
Out to Get Me
My Michelle
The Blues
YCBM
Live and Let Die
Paradise City

I'm sure I've forgot half of the songs. No real rants too and the band came back on stage at the end as I was walking out to give a bow. Cool show, bedtime now.

Superb show. Saw the bassist from Guns 2 roses there too! he apreciated my Adlers Appetite T Shirt!.
After the gig we waited around and we had a long conversation with Ron Thai. He was cool! he had a Curry he was eating and sharing it around, i got a couple of photos. I asked him 'Will you ever do Doubletalking Jive'? He said 'Is that a GNR song?' ' I just play what they tell me to do'. Cool. I told him he kicks Bucketheads ass but all he said was ' he's my friend man'.
Also grabbed a word with Chris Pitman. As he went to his trailer i said " i love silkworms man!" (all i could think of saying) he said "wait for the studio record!" I asked him if it was on the new album and he walked to his car.
Saw Dizzy reed also, he was super spaced out. His eyes were bulging!
We waited for Tommy to come out and he went straight for his car, no nothing!.
Oh, I asked Ron If Brian May had practiced Catcher In the Rye with them, unfortunatly Ron had no info on that. He didnt know much really!. He had a bloody hot Curry tho. Ill post a pic later.
Last thing to say tho. As i left i said "who's on the HTGTH message board and not one remaining soul was! where were you guys??????????

channel 4 teletext have a review up incase you miss the post in the main forum:

Quote
Theyre two hours late. Axl rose (dressed in a nasty brown carcoat, ginger cornrows in a ponytail) dances like a dad and looks like a football manager from 1975.
During the next 2 and a half hours, the three guitarists will trade solos that go on for weeks. Wars are started and end during axls introducing the band slot.
By god, gnr are magnificent. This wont be remembered for missed trains, but for axl beaming back to earth
The last, faux-industrial, gnr line-up in 2002 was horribly contrived, axl rose an often pitiable figure.
Tonight, he?s happy, constantly joking with the crowd and looking like a man about to have the last laugh on the whole world who?d wrote him off.
He doesn?t merely sing the old hits properly, he renews them, that squawk as simultaneously deafening and controlled as it ever was. If it wasn?t for that hair, he?d be perfect.
Whether or not its gnr or a glorified solo project, the musicians behind axl rose are excellent.
Only youngest guitarist bumblefoot, too twiddly here, is unimpressive and even he shows an enthusiastic potential.
Granted, lulls occur during individual solos, as if axl rose is too forcibly making a point at slash: ?see how they can do the fiddly stuff! Ha!? but robin finck ? ?the ribbed condom of guitar?, says axl ? is endlessly watchable.
They start with a spot on welcome to the jungle, end on a thrilling paradise city and confetti explosion, have mini-flames erupting from the stage and do a ridiculously good you could be mine.
But it?s the new songs that fascinate. Madagascar and IRS are big November rain moments, President stadium-ready? and Better is stunning ? a funk/rawk monster to rival sweet child.
A happy, healthy axl would?ve suffice. Now, hes hungry again. Fantastic.

8/10

Got home at 3.30 this morning.  Got 3 hours sleep, phoned in sick writing this then going back to bed.
Last night was a majorly awesome show.  The late start was a bastard tho, my mate (who had to be up to get a 6.30am flight this am) had to get the last train back to her place, last train 11.35 so she had to leave the gig before it had even began!  She is not a happy girl.  Anyway, Loved, Loved LOVED the show.  Axl was fantastic.  He actually started smiling during KOHD.  From then all on stage seemed to really enjoy themselves.  Axl hardly left the stage.  Although all the old songs were fantastic, I think my fav for the night was 'Better'.  God I love that song.  Thought Richard (by miles) did the best solo.  The crowd were fantastic (once the show started, very loud booing before they finally came on the stage).  I have a very sore throat today from all the singing and shouting.  Anyway going to get some kip now.  See everyone at Donington.

The band were MAGNIFICENT.

But coming on at 10.40pm, and finishing at 1.01am is not. Axl should have said at the end "GOOD. FUCKING. MORNING!"

I've never heard boos and jeers like it. The crowd had noticably thinned by the time they came on stage two hours late.  The bar was decanting all drinks out of bottles to prevent people throwing bottles of piss at the band. And believe me, there were many people who would've done so if they had the chance. No matter how good they were, I'm NOT going to see them again : I have a wife, a child, a job, and waiting for Axl to pull his head out of 'Axltime' to the real world causes frictions and costs money when it finishes that late.

Axl may have 'Fuck You Money', but someone needs to pull Axl to one side and tell him how seriously he's fucking off the fans.

Set :
Welcome To The Jungle
Its So Easy
Mr Brownstone
Live And Let Die
Robin Solo
SCOM
Knockin On Heavens Door
Madagascar
Better
You Could Be Mine
Dizzy Solo
The Blues
Bumblefoot Solo / Don't Cry
Out Ta Get Me
IRS
November Rain
My Michelle
Fortus/Finck Duel
Patience
Nighttrain
Finck Solo 2
Paradise City

(approx set list, got a bit hazy after midnight).

Here's my review from earlier- I'm still going over what I saw in my head and trying to do justice to it; the video of LALD is great, but might miss a  bit of the intensity of it. When I said earlier that this is what I imaging being at Ritz 88 might have been like, I meant it. This was this band's Ritz show. Was completely insane. Took me 5 hours to get home, but it was so worth it, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Just back from the show- I'll write a proper review after some sleep!

Best show I've ever seen bar none. The crowd were immensely into it- crowd surfing throughout, and the whoe standing section moving as one. Loads knew the new songs too, so they went down well.

Axl sounded fantastic- better than I've ever heard, the shrieks cut powerfully through the mix. The band were clearly really enjoying the response from the crowds too- they were as into it as we were. I can never criticize Axl about the oxygen either- I was out of breath three songs in from the intensity of it, and I was just in the crowd; I was 4 rows from the stage, and it felt like they were playing in my living room.

And honestly, once they hit the stage, nobody cared what time it was. We were rapt in the moment until 1ish, when they finished.

Cool thing I remember- about 6, before the show, bumble was talking to loads of fans outside the show in the queue and around the stage entrance. Fantastic guy.

The BBC were hanging around outside too, recording interviews with fans for the 6Music (rock) radio station.

I'll never see a show as good as this again.

Pics to come- where can I upload them to, if they're any good?

Ron came out with a take away curry which he was eating from one of those takeaway aluminium tubs. He offered a bit around so we didnt refuse, so i had a fork full of some very spicy chicken. He spoke with us for ages, cool bloke.
I didnt recognise Dizzy read with his dreds, so just missed getting his autograph......

Just read the review if the London Evening Standard, it was awful! They gave it 1 out of 5 stars, said "Axl Rose looked like a Stars in their Eyes Mick Hucknall!"
he described the guitarists at potholers, who were not worthy of tuning Slash's guitars! He said he lost the will to live after Fortus's solo! And finished off by saying that this once great band had surrended everything which was once good about them!!

Personally I thought it was a brilliant show. An epic performance from every member of the band. Robin finck showed us what it is like to be a real guitarist. Sadly I had to leave before the end because something came up so I needed to get home. But from what I did see, I can say they are on top form and played amazingly.

Everything was great.

Evening Standard can Fuck Off!!

Let's get a few things straight.
I love Gn'R and last night was the first time I felt ready to go and see them since the break up. What a mixed bag it was!
Firstly - the waiting around for 2 hours for them to come on stage is just tedious now - when they were at the height of their powers it kind of went with the territory of being the Most Dangerous Band in The World - you're 44 now Axl, clean and sober so no excuses for showing your fans the disrespect of rolling on stage at 2305. Boring!
Opener Welcome to the Jungle rocked and was an exhilerating start. It's so Easy was ok but I heard it done better by f*cking Kid Rock at Brixton a few years ago! And Slash and Co. in VR still play it better than these hired hands. Mr Brownstone was unforgivably poor - mushy sound, lack lustre energy to a GREAT GREAT song. Again VR play this song like their life depends on it and sounds a trillion times better. Live and Let Die was quite fun in a 'sing-along at karaoke' type way.
And then came the first of the tuneless, shred solos - utterly pitiful and as if waiting 2 hours wasn't bad enough we had these interminable intervals of mutual cock stroking that lost any momentum the show was gathering.
The new songs (especially Madagascar) were truly impressive. I'd not heard them before so to hear songs in a live setting for the first time and enjoy them is great credit to Axl.
Axl's voice sounded better than ever - at times truly jaw-dropping. Although he sounds out of tune for most of Knockin' on Heaven Door.
As for the rest of the band. The drummer was a non-entity with headphones on (was he listening to a CD of summat better? ?:hihi:
And why oh why do we need to have 2 keyboards and 3 guitars to play songs like NightTrain, Paradise City, Out Ta Get Me etc etc???
Oh yeah - Sweet Child O' Mine was fabulous - they really wrung the neck out of that one. You could be Mine was also brilliant and sounded superb.
Ironic really that it takes high wired Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach to come on and wip the sleepy Hammersmith crowd into a frenzy. The duet on My Michelle was good value and deliriously exciting.
So, how did this compare to VR gigs? Well - VR have a far weaker song base but their gigs are pure rock n roll. I'm afraid that for all the technical virtuosity these new boys can't hold a candle to Slash and Izzy. Or Gilby for that matter.
Time will tell if GnR (or 'The Axl Rose Show) can grow into a something better and if a new album does surface it could well ignite new interest. Untill then I'll save my pennies for the next VR tour.

Thanks to Jarmo for organising the meeting at the distillers arms. Although I havn't posted in a year, it was still cool to see so many G'n'R fans in one place and all there for the same reason. And thanks for the references to me being dutch, I should get in with those crazy dutchies.

Hey people got back at 6:00am this mornin' and i had to go to sleep before i posted my review! I missed the last train out of kings cross! IT WAS FUCKIN WORTH IT THOUGH!!

Here we go!

I went with my mate, who's a non- "newGNR" kind of guy! Not into all these new band members, calls bumblefoot a bumbletwat etc.! I knew i had to get him to change his opinion, so as soon as those tix went on sale i got him one!

We arrived in Hammersmith at about 13:30ish and just hung around the local bars and such like until 16:30 when we decided to start queuin'. What a fiasco  they moved the queue twice meaning the poor buggers who'd got to the front of the queue at like 9am where now at the back.

Anyways, saw the GNR photographer George Chin (?) whilst in the queue, some people were chattin' to him, seems like a really cool guy. Some people were doin short interviews with the fans aswell which was also kinda cool! I think they opened the doors at about 8ish, maybe a bit before. What a relief  :'( (thats sweat, not tears!!)

Inside now, bought the cool t-shirt with the new old-school logo and the dates on the back, AWESOME!  :peace:

Got a nice little spot about halfway down towards the stage. A7X came on at about 8:15, thought they were actually pretty good, a bit cocky, but still good!  : ok: They finished up at about 9, then the wait began......

.....

.....

10:45 (i think!) - lights dimmed, annoyin' intro then those oh so familiar echoes and at long last.....

"Do you know where the fuck you are??"

Crowd went wild.... naturally!  : ok:

Some highlights during the show......

Amazing renditions of the AFD songs

Playing some of the newer songs (didn't have the same impact as the AFD songs, but still awesome  : ok:)

Robin crowdsurfing during OTGM + Robin's facial expressions during his solo's  :hihi:

Ron is so much better seeing him live than what he seems to be on the recording's - Rock on dude

Axl's voice in fine form  ;)

Axl: "The ribbed condom of guitarist's - Mr Robin Finck!"

Seeing Merck rockin out to Nightrain + PC at the side of the stage

Axl's pink shirt  :hihi:

YCBM sounded incredible, one of the best of the evening!

+ so much more, i can't really be bothered to type it all at the moment! To sum it all up... WHAT A SHOW!  :smoking:

The show finished at 1 and after an eternity of trying to squeeze out the doors we hurridely made our way to the station only to discover that there was no train's running to Kings Cross. so....... waht did me and my mate do? we WALKED all the way from Hammersmith to Kings Cross!!!!! Got there at gone half 3 in the mornin', we were so pumped, we just didn't give a shit! What a night!

Got the 5:21 train back home and had a nice kip when i got in. Was fuckin exhausted to say the least!

Oh... my mate HAS changed his opinion now. On the way back, he says to me "Dude, GNR are back man!!"

Sums it all up really!

Roll on July 30th

The show was fuckin awesome!

a few bad points:

Avenge Sevenfold were shit - please get a better, more appropriate ROCK band to support next time, not some nu-metal shit!

The mix was a bit muddy some times - hard to pick out some of the guitar/vocals at times, drums were nice and loud though! probably the result of putting a staduim sound system into a smaller venue.

GN'R not coming on until 11, and London transport stopping at midnight. Like alot of people we had to leave during 'Nightrain'. That put a downer on the end of an otherwise great night.

GN'R were great though - good to hear Madagascar again, shame they didn't play CD.....and Estranged, Don't Cry etc, etc, etc!

Did you guys see all the cameras filming queue and the leaflets about the filming? The must be planning to release something, unless all that is just for Axl's private collection?!

oh yeah, and there was a seperate entrance for people with mobile tickets, with absolutely no queue - i'm doing that next time as the queue for standard tickets went right round the block.

The sound was actually pretty clear though- the reason you might have had trouble hearing is because the crowd was so loud!

He said , no he isnt and that he wont feature on the album at all.

well....i worked in the pit at Hammersmith, apart from the twat we pulled over the barrier and lobbed out and the idiots who demand on pushing their way to the front, not caring who they whack in the face on the way thru, i had a fookin blast, well worth the wait in between Avenged Sevenfold and Guns.

There were only 350 people sent tickets thru their phones, and it was a 100% success as all were passed thru without any technical fubars! so good news for the real fans, crappy news for the touts!!.

Just wanted to say thanks for a great nite, you lot were nutty as expected but great, mr rose hasnt lost any of his appeal for me personally, and i look forward to seeing some of u either this weekend at Donnington, or at Wembley next month, say hi!!(specially if you were the scouse girl, in black with ur m8 with the USA bandanna, ssccchhhaaaaawingggggg).

Take care guys,

Stay safe

No matter how good they were, I'm NOT going to see them again : I have a wife, a child, a job, and waiting for Axl to pull his head out of 'Axltime' to the real world causes frictions and costs money when it finishes that late.

Axl may have 'Fuck You Money', but someone needs to pull Axl to one side and tell him how seriously he's fucking off the fans.

Agreed, those were exactly my thoughts as I was struggling to get a nightbus back to my hostel! As I had to leave at 4:15 to catch my plane I had 1 hour sleep! The fucker has no idea what people go through to see his chauffeur-driven ass! But I will see them once more again (but then I will have my car)!

Oh, and the show was cool!

I'm not being funny but I planned my whole trip around the fact that Axl would be late.

We all know it - why not plan with that in mind?

How can markreed complain about something he new was going to happen when he bought the tickets?

Well, you know... I also was quite sure that Axl would be late... but as someone who lives from the good will of his fans, especially considering what happened (or didn't happen) the last 13 years, you would think he'd show some courtesy to the fans! Would he have gone on stage 30 to 45 mins earlier, everything would have been well... but he just shows that he is still in his egoistical rock star mode and that not much has changed... except that, unlike 13 years ago, he isn't on top of the world anymore! How can it be that the biggest stars in the world, who still are regarded as the biggest stars in the world, can go on stage in a timely fashion, but Axl Rose can't??

Very easily. If it said "GNR On stage 10.40, end 1.00am", I'd KNOW it was late. Axl can show on time when the curfew fines are big enough (see Dublin '06, Docklands '02), he just doesn't give a shit about how he inconvieniences the people who go to the shows and pay his wages. Without us, Axl would be playing to empty rooms.  Anyone who can't see that lives in AxlWorld, not the real world the rest of us live in.

What percent of concerts has Axl actually shown up ontime since '91, maybe 1%? Did you just realize this week that Axl doesn't give a shit about how people are inconvienced because it finally happened at a show that you were at? I would of thought any longtime fan could've realized that when Axl didn't bother to show up in Philly in '02 or all those late starts dating back to '91.

I read the posts about hammerstein, so I expected them to go on at 11 and finish at 1.so I borrowed my brother's car and slept in that just off the M1. (Days inn carpark - very classy!) I agree it was shit that we all had to wait. Maybe sevenfold could have gone on longer? But the pattern's there. I purposely didn't get the train because I knew I'd have to mill round london for hours. (had to sleep in victoria coach station in between the busses once -don't wanna do that again!

I was also there when the 20 or so people met Ron. I didn't say I post here, because I don't usually. I primarily post at the GnR Bar (getting close to 10,000 posts). Anyways, Ron was really cool. I am not sure if anyone else noticed Dizzy and Tommy freaking out behind the gate. I was the guy in the green shirt who was standing alone. While you guys were all trying to get around the corner, I was watching Dizzy break bottles and Tommy spaz because his bus wasn't there yet. Good stuff. I kind of like how they were playing shitboxes a couple months ago and now they are rockstars again. I got my picture with Ron (and I AM NOT THE LOSER DUDE who asked questions about Slash and dropped his camera. In fact, I was the dude trying to work his busted camera. Ha!).

I didn't try to wait for the band after Dublin. I wonder if anyone met Ron or anyone after that gig?

the general consensus is that they fuckin sucked! They just weren't the right kind of band to support GN'R, regardless of the genre. Anyway, I think 'nu-metal' is a fair categorisation for them - they're hardly an 'old' metal band, are they?!!
