street teams are groups of fans of a band that get packages promoting new stuff (new dvd, new tour, new album, etc.)  they get stuff like stickers, posters, clings (these smaller posters that use static to cling to stuff), bumper stickers, etc. that have the bands name, the album name, release date and website so other non fans, or long ago fans can find out about the new album/tour/whatever so it sells better.

So when was GN'R supposed to get some? Anyone? I know this was talked about before...

Lol.. I know that... but.. wasn't it a plan sometime in '02 that got shelved? I just want to hear what happened... if it was a rumor.. or whatever.. and if so who brought it up. If it never happened then thats cool...

There were street teams for the 2002 North American tour.

Also, some plans on how to organize future street teams were made in 2004 (I think). But nothing was promoted.

Some people think the teams were working in 2004, but that wasn't the case.

I would encourage people not to engage in street team activity; I know when I read messages from street teamers on other boards, it annoys me to no end.  Plus, idiots carelessly toss around empty titles like East Coast Street Team President, as if that justifies spamming. It is better to spread the word of Axl by word of mouth when and where appropriate and not engaging in the base actions of die hard Britney Spears and/or Linkin Park fanatics.

That's a waste, and no one even sees those things, people just assume its for a garage sale or something.  IT's just clutter.  Crappy bands do that here in L.A. and then they drop off the face of the earth.

Why does GNR need street teams ???????

Granted it's not the original lineup but they're not a fucking garage band out of New Jersey.  Just buy CD when and if it comes out and buy tickets to the concerts.

Stay out the streets

Some people tried to start a street team in 2004/5. The furthest they got was a website and forum.

It was funny because they called it the "official" Guns n Roses Street Team, and recieved a email from the GnR Management telling them to stop it.

Well, it depends on how you look at it!
I would do the street team for showing my support to Axl and the band. Not for making this the best selling album. I would only do it for
the fun, and support!

give me a break on having them have street teams.

The day after Axl's new band played the MTV MVA in 2002, they were on CNN actually... The journalist said after having commented other bands :"...and this was presented as Guns N'Roses although Axl Rose is the only original member."

Don't expect too much help from CNN to promote CD...

I feel the same way.. I'd feel like a douche anyways going so bonkers over this band acting like paul revere screaming cd is coming..

The ground work was layed down with the gnr from yesteryear.. it might just be fun if you are a teen wanting to expereince something now..

let axl promote this thing after all the time waiting for it..

Sometimes fans have been giving everything they could to the band for the past 7 years with no support from said band or their management or anyone related whatsoever to the band. Maybe this is restricted to certain countries.

whatever happened to that street team stuff that was getting organized back in 2004?  wouldn't now be about the right time to get something like that going in full motion?  ???   nobody i know has any clue GNR is about to start a US tour and they dont even know about the European tour until I tell them..   I remember everyone was all gung ho with that whole street team thing then it just kind of died down.

its quite strange that theres almost no publicity whatsoever for these tour dates.

I would think so, it feels like it. I listened to some of the "new" songs again today, after not doing so for a while, and it got me really excited again. I can't wait until they come to Phoenix or Tucson (and I already went to all 4 Hammerstein shows).

well garry, i don't really care what you think merck's tactics are, you're just an 18 year old kid and have a lot to learn yet about business and the music industry

I'm not saying either that GNR will definately have street teams, but i think you're being just a bit ignorant by making statements like "only nobody's [sic] use such lame tactics."  Especially when Mystereon has said that GNR will have street teams.

Right now, if I were to go and stand on a busy street corner, with a Megaphone and yell " GUNS N ROSES-CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS....UMMM FAIRLY SOON!!" then that would be more promotion that what is currently being done publicly  for Gn'R . If you need proof of that, look at their quarter-assed ( Half assed, would be a compliment) "official" site that has the 2002 logo up for 2006 dates. The same site that apparently thinks Europe is unimportant as there were no dates listed for the entire 06 European Tour.

I agree that GNR needs a little help in the promotion department. Everytime I bring them up, people say, "They are still around?" They have lots of fans that don't come on to these forums and because of that they never knew about the European tour or about the album coming out this year. However, once they decide on a release date I'm sure they will start some decent promotion with or without street teams.

Garry you clearly don't understand. Your like, what? A little kid? Yeah. So your opinion is invalid. Duh.

Also, if you want my opinion GNR definitly doesn't need a street team (though it might be fun.) Give em some time on MTV and they'll be fine from there. To be fair about the "what about megadeth" discussion.. Megadeth doesn't exactly get too much airplay on MTV when they release a naw album.. they are more underground than GNR.

GNR will have promo when they decide to go out and get some. Otherwise, lets not worry.

PS. Garry you are dumb. Dumbdumbdumbdumbdumbdumb... dumbo!

Jack, I'm gonna have to disagree, because I love to argue.

Maybe street teams were cool if you were born in '79, but Jack you old fart, need to get with the times.

P.S.  You don't know anything about the industry and your mom sounds like she's 20.

Your a joke coke boy. You kids and your fancy smancy CD's. I listen'd to phonographs back in '12.

Street teams are needed for a big band like GNR. Im a member of the Rolling Stone street team!  ;D
