I'll be at this one as well as Tampa!!

It will be cool to see them in some bigger venues, after seeing a great "club" show on May 14th in New York. These are the first chances I've had to see them live in 15 years as a fan-- and now 3 shows in a year!! Pretty cool! Especially since I think musically, these have been some of the best of Axls career!

For anyone not familiar with this venue, it's just outside of Fort Myers but North of Naples on the west coast of FL. Fairly small town. It's a minor league ice hockey arena basically, and they are having games the day before and after (which are GREAT to watch in a smaller arena venue, BTW). For Floridians, think of the venue as the St. pete Times Forum in Tampa, with the upper decks chopped off, and shrunk down quite a bit. Almost similar in size, maybe a BIT smaller??, to the Lakeland Center.

Have fun!! By the way, use Priceline for some decent deals on Fort Myers area hotels. Hotwire has a 2.5* near fort myers airport for $64/nt. Likely a Hampton Inn.

I guess with the tickets high priced, and the weird location, and the 3 other FL gigs in a better location, not many people would want to make the trip to this one. Hey, leaves more room for us, eh?

P.S, i got a hotel called La Quinta, its been open for like 2 weeks only, and looks good, $90 a night, and 5 minutes from the venue. Maybe you should look into that instead of sleeping in your car!

I am really wondering, that this venue (which holds only 7000) is going to be over 1/3 empty ???

Tickets were selling so bad for this show, because of the remote location.......

that they fucking reduced the tickets from 89 bucks to 69 bucks!!

Doesnt that piss you off? We buy the tickets right when they go on sale, because we love this band.. and because of that... we get jipped 20 bucks!!
Is their anyway to return the tickets to ticketmaster and then buy them for this price?  ;D

I am wondering if this will happen to all of the shows that are selling shitty. Man that would piss me off too, but better than the show being canceled/postponed.

Maybe it was limited time offer then?

The lower bowl is full when I try to order a pair, and the upper bowl was giving me seats in the last row. I guess there's still a lot of floors cuz the place seems to have a large floor :P

Hey Folks,
Call ticketmaster and bitch and tell them you bought your tickets for this and now they are being offered for $69! You should get money back on whatever card you used to purchase unless you used cash. There are some places where this show is selling out and some are having a hard time selling. And the ticket prices range by venue.

Don't worry about the crowd - if it doesn't fill and they still play, you guys are in for the most awesome treat of the year! I'm sure Axl will take it personally and possibly rage on stage!

Seriously, call ticketmaster and rage! It's the American way to get things done because they're all trying to rip us off! Just look at the handling fees!

This baby is just about sold out. I checked ticketmaster and they have less than 50 upper level seats left.. none on the floor and none in the upper bowl.  I wonder if this is really the case or the radio staion bought all the rest and gave them away.

A few days ago someone told me that the promoter said the show was only 60% sold out. Well, its a small venue, but in a remote location.....
I'm sure itll be packed either way!

I use to live in Fort Myers and am moving back in a few months.  If you haven't been there recently, you'd be shocked how it has grown.  My husband was driving home from Fort Myers this afternoon and said the DJ's were all talking about how the show may be cancelled or rescheduled, but had nothing to base it on.  I just sum it up to idiot DJ's.  Fort Myers may be small, Estero is in the middle of nowhere, but it is a rocking town.  I know that many members of different rock groups live in Fort Myers, Spring Break there is nuts, you've got two major league baseball teams who have spring training there, etc., etc.  And hey, if it isn't full, great, more room for us!

shlashbog, where did you see them, st pete? ?How was Axl's voice? ?still as strong as the euro shows? ?it seems like the more he sings the better it gets/sounds like the old days, so i was wondering if it lost a little something from the break. ?thanks.

Um, I don't know if you were referring to Motley or Guns.  But I saw Axl on Tuesday in Sunrise and his voice was 98% right on and his showmanship was 100% right on.

I saw Guns in Ft Lauderdale a day b4 yesterday. It was an awesome show, His voice ( in my opinion) is much better now than what it was in 2002, but not as good as in his Appetite years.. But stiill, He can still deliver a great performance , with a great kicking ass attitude ... I loved it , And I m pretty sure everyone that attended the show thinks the same.. I also noticed the people in New york was a little more aggresive, meanin more mosh pits , and freaking pushing and jumping all the time.. Here everyone was into the show singing and stuff , However, more calmed ..  Overall,, Go check them out , they are worth it..

ya i totally agree with your take on the voice.  I flew to vegas to see them at the joint and it was without a doubt the best show i have ever seen, part of that was due to the fact that at "The Joint" Axl was practically screaming in your face if you were up close.  i was only wondering because the vids i have seen from the kroq inland invasion in cali didnt seem quite as good as what i saw in vegas.  thanks, and maybe i will see you there.  I will be wearing a "kill your idols" shirt.

Tonights show kicked ass!? I went to the show tonight with a good friend of mine who I've known for nearly 15 years Damien aka Taz or DamienTheTaz here on this board.? Damien was the first friend I made when I moved to Florida from Rhode Island back when I was 13 in 1990 and we bonded over the fact that we both loved Guns n Roses and I had on a Stoned in LA t-shirt.? Growing up we always said that one day no matter where GnR played in Florida we would go together and see them and tonight was the night as my girl bailed out on me last minute.? We got to the arena at 10:40 as we skipped out on Bach and PR tonight so that we could get more sleep prior to the show.? We timed everything perfectly cause we only had to wait about 10 mins after arriving before Guns took the stage.? Our seats tonight were total shit in section 108 but we noticed nobody was sitting towards the back of the arena dead center looking straight on at the stage so we walked over and had in my opinion the best seats in the freakin' house.?

Tonight's show was amazing!? It was the same setlist from Wednesday nights show in Tampa but seemed flawless.? Axl's voice was dead on all night and the band was so freakin' tight like a well polished machine.? Back in 2002 the band seemed to be a carbon copy of the old GnR lineup in that they played all the old songs the same way Slash, Matt and Duff would have but this time around the band took the old songs and owned them making them there own.? Can't really explain it but they just weren't playing Slash's old solo's on guitar they were owning the songs and simply making them their's if that makes any sense.? Robin Fink did a guitar solo that I can only describe as dangerously sexy.? It was just this bad ass down and dirty sexy guitar riff that in my head I could see people fucking to in a movie or something.? This new band is full of such talented musicans I dare anybody to name another band playing today that busts out 3 and 4 min guitar or piano solos during their shows.?

I had no problem tonight sneaking my camera in and below you will see pictures.? I also used my Sony Digital to record Chinese Democracy and I Use To Love Her on video and will upload those very soon.? I gotta hand it to the guys who bootleg shows as I was scared to tape too much tonight as I didn't wanna risk getting kicked out plus I was bouncing around too much and having too much of a good time to sit still and record everything.? So my hat is off to the great folks who do all the recordings as it takes big balls.?

After the show ended we hung out in the back loading arena with all the trucks and saw the lead singer from Papa Roach and some groupie babes trying to get backstage.? After about 15 mins of standing around we walked around the side of the building and saw Bumblefoot talking to fans and signing autographs.? What a nice nice guy, total class act.? He signed both mine and Damien's ticket stubs and took pictures with both of us.? Totally mellow guy who was really appreciative of everyone coming out and thanks us for coming out and being fans.? Who does that anymore?? Seriously, how cool is that of him to be so down to earth and take time out for the fans?? Simply awesome and that my friends is how a kick ass night ended.? It's 4:34am and I still haven't slept as I'm still all jacked up from the concert and a wonderful night out with one of my best buds.? Enjoy the pictures and as for the videos somebody just email me or PM me with directions on how to compress the videos and where to upload them or simply where to upload them if compressing isn't an issue.? I recorded I Use To Love Her for everybody cause I figured they hadn't been playing that live and it would be neat for everybody to have.? Anyways, I out so? :peace:

Big Chris

ps meet EFISH of the board tonight who was sporting a HereTodayGoneToHell.com t-shirt.? Nice meeting you my friend!? (He also meet Bumblefoot and got a pic with him)

Thanks for taking the time to write the review (and post the pics); sounds like you had a brilliant time.

I couldn't agree more with you about the way these guys take the old songs and make them their own.  This band injects so much life and energy into their performance that, in Europe earlier this year, I was able to recapture all the old excitement I felt when I slipped AFD onto the turntable for the first time way back in the '80s.  And that's definitely something I thought had gone forever only a few years ago!

I wasn't really planning on going to this show. But the wife and I decided to go at the last minute. I am really glad we did. Was able to get tickets on the right side of the stage row 3. Technically row 1 I guess, because they had the first 2 rows blocked off. Anyway overall very good show. The crowd was really into at as well. More so than the Sunrise show a few days ago. Same setlist as Tampa & Sunrise. Although they did not play Used To Love Her @ Sunrise. So that was a nice treat. Being stage side,I was able to see Axl, Robin, Richard & Ron closer than I ever could have imagined. About 8-9 feet away. I was so excited and amazed. Never thought I would be that close to Axl. Was also able to see alot of backstage stuff. Beta was there, as well as Axls girl he has been with. Sasha I think is her name? Saw Baz and his wife as well waiting to go on for My Michelle. Some guys from Papa roach too.

Highlights for me were Better, Chinese Democracy, Nightrain and Mr. Brownstone. Although the other songs kicked ass too. I have only heard Better in it's entirety since the other night in Sunrise, was holding out until the cd comes out. That song kicks alot off ass. I can't get it out of my head. Some girls were throwing bras up onstage and Axl picked the first one up and held it up against is chest. That was quite funny (and disturbing at the same time) ;D Overall had a great time and it was well worth the 3 hour drive over and back.

For those that are unsure about going to see them, if you can you should it is well worth it. If you are disappointed about no new Chinese Democracy songs, when I saw Metallica back in 97 when Load came out they only played 3 new songs of that cd, and there cd was already out.

That is my review. Gotta go to sleep now it is almost 6:00 am. Thank God I don't have to get up early. :peace:

One more thing I am pretty sure HTGTH's very own EFISH caught a water bottle from Robin. : ok:

I hadn't heard Better before seeing them live and you're right, it really does get under your skin.  :D

Just got home, was front again, verrrry first one in the arena....
I met Ron after the show and snapped some pictures...
Security were being real assholes until GNR came on then they lightened up....
Setlist was exact same as Tampa...
This show was fucking amazing!
Caught Robin's water bottle....
Held up Robin during Nightrain, touched Rons guitar during PC....
Great fucking night, just amazing!
Review and pictures to come, getting them developed now....

ps meet EFISH of the board tonight who was sporting a HereTodayGoneToHell.com t-shirt.  Nice meeting you my friend!  (He also meet Bumblefoot and got a pic with him)

Good review Big Chris and great pics. You had to be really close to SLC and I. We were in section 106 about a dozen rows up.

Sounds like we waited too late/went to the wrong side of the arena to meet anybody.............

Great reviews and pictures, thanks to all. Another great night with GnR.

See ya'll in Jacksonville!

Urggh you are so lucky >:(
 ;D haha have fun man!
So out of the shows you went to, which one do you think was better?
I think Estero was better, IMO....
Also, have trouble finding that hotel? ;D They gave us the wrong directions, we drove around for an hour before we called them and asked where the hell it is

Title: Re: October 27 - Estero, FL @ Germain Arena

I went the total opposite way. But after about 5 minutes, I realized that there was no way this could be where the hotel was. Then I found it in a few minutes. It was actually a pretty nice room.

I liked Tampa better, but I am guessing because my seats were much better. It was still fun in Estero because I got to see more of the "entire" show: lights, flames etc. I got to see the those guys get thrown out (who were really fighting the security guys bigtime.......... :hihi: So that was cool.

We had a fun time. We went to breakfast with Kujo at the Denny's (gross) right next to the hotel til 4 that morning. (This is just between us, but I think Kujo was losing his mind from lack of REM sleep.)

Hey, I went to Denny's for breakfast too!  :hihi: :hihi:
Yeah, it was actually a guy and a girl thrown out, and security picked up the girl and just carried her away, and the guy was struggling to get free and the 2 security guards were twisting his neck, looked like it hurt like a bitch.

Oh, yeah? Well the shadow people are telling me that you are a stooge. Besides, who was the one who wanted to stand in the cold october rain hoping Axl would come by and autograph his hand?

I was actually doing fine, thanks Red Bull, until two incidents:
1. Listening to the guy on my left trying to sing along with everysong yet butchering every single lyric (Think Borat mixed with Eric Cartman as the special olympics athlete and you've got it exactly)

2. The absolute morons sitting behind me at Dennys. To think that those kids are the future scares the shit out of me. You had to be impressed though that I was repeating their entire conversation at the same time they were saying it :smoking:

hahaha, "Could you sign here where it says 'free taco'? Thanks!"

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. That guy to your left had me laughing for about 10 whole minutes. Probably the most I will ever laugh at any GnR concert. I thought I was going to piss myself.

My favorite exchange was between Mrs. Punk and the security guard. As he sat there with his jaw open, wondering how to respond, I just told him, "Hey dude, don't feel so bad........... I'm married to this girl! I have to hear shit like this everyday!"

 :hihi:

The kids behind you didn't bother me as much as our waitress who looked like she had gone through a wind tunnel while drinking 40 cups of coffee and chewing 8 no doze. Yikes! I'd also seen cleaner restrooms in jail then that place.

I had forgotten about that. I'm glad he was cool because I had visions of him calling security and having us get a beat down for standing by Mercks bus. I also became convinced at that point that she writes all your material.

Just so everyone is clued in, we were leaving and saw a few tour bus' where we were told the band would be, so we decided to go see what we could come up with. No guards at the gate so we all walk in towards the bus. We were halfway between the bus and the gates when security came out and walked to us.

Security: Do you have a pass?
All of us: No
Mrs Punk: Can I just say I have one?
Security: If you dont have a pass you have to stand behind the gate
We walk behind the gate
Security: Who are you waiting for? Everyone is gone.
Mrs Punk: Well if everyone is gone, how come we have to stand behind the gate?

We did find out that it was Mercks bus "That promoter/manager guy" and that we did see Axl's bus leave past us and honk the horn.

Did you go there right after the concert? I did about 15-20 minutes after and I saw Richard walk out and then go back in the arena, I saw the Papa Roach guy walking to his bus, and alas Ron hanging out with like 10 fans....

We got out of the venue pretty quick, but didnt think about looking for the bus until security started clearing people out of the front of the building. Probably 30 to 45 minutes after the show.

I talked to one guard who was over by Sebastians bus and he said he isn't really a fan of hard rock music, but he wanted to check out the band. He had no idea who anyone was other than Axl, but said he was very impressed with the talent of the band, even if some of the more agressive songs were not "his cup of tea"

She is a saint to put up with just you.

When we get together I dont know how she puts up with us sometimes :hihi:

I just remembered the one individual a few rows behind us that was screaming for them to play "You Could Be Mine"................. even after they already played it. So of course I started calling for Welcome To The Jungle, which prompted Chuckles on my left to inform me "They already played that, my friend"

Also thanks to Chuckles It will be awhile before I can listen to Patience without hearing "We never made it/Because i couldn't bake it"   :hihi:

That is strange because the dude next to me was shouting for YCBM after they played it also!

Another funny story was when we were waiting for GNR to come on, some guy that looked like a terrorist started coming to the front saying "I'm just looking for my watch..." and kept pushing up...
I said "dude your watch is on your arm" and he  paused and said "no, my other watch".. Security came over and told him to get to the back and he started arguing and getting pissed but finally gave in. I thought he was gonna blow us up though or something because he was very terrorist looking.  :hihi: :hihi:

Man I love it when people at shows want to sing along and butcher everything, make up their own lyrics and what not.

Especially when its caught on video.

Thanks Chris! You're an awesome GNR fan! You have given us reviews and pics for all the shows! You rock!

I love the tidbits about people singing and get thrown out. Keep the extra stories coming! One question for the groupies - how the hell do they manage to stand in those shoes the whole concert without feeling like total crap by the end of the night? I guess it was cool since this show wasn't sold out but I can't imagine standing like 8 or 9 hours in fuck me pumps.

I can't imagine standing like 8 or 9 hours in fuck me pumps.

SLC kept asking me to rub his feet :nervous:

Shirts were $35-$40 dollars

Another story I had forgot about. Frank was doing his drum beat to get the crowd to chant "Guns n Roses". I was talking to SLC about something but after the second drum beat with no response, on the 3rd I shouted out "Guns N Roses you fuckers". The 4th beat got a better response ;D
