Title: Listening to Chinese Democracy on a Nokia N Series Phone
Post by: Brundle25 on January 09, 2009, 06:36:48 AM
Hi all,
I was not overly impressed with Chinese Democracy running on Nokia N96. I had copied the CD to a PC using Windows media play at the highest bitrate and then copy and pasted the tracks directly to the music folder within the Nokia N96?s memory.

On listening to Catcher in the Rye, it appeared to me that at the end of the song the vocals seemed detached from the guitars, the song appeared to have no flow and I was of the impression that the new version of this song had been ruined by over production. Prostitute seemed to have, what I can only describe as an ?Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters siren? at 1:59.

BTW using headphones and not the internal speaker.

Ill cut to the point. I took a look at the N-Series software that came with the phone. I noticed a music manager with the software. I plugged in the phone and thought I would re copy Chinese Democracy using this software. On copying I was asked ?Do I want to convert to aac+ for better quality when running on a mobile? (or something like that). I said Ok.
On listening again, the difference is incredible. I am hearing so much more to each song now and Catcher has become one of the best tracks on the album! It now sounds perfectly put together at the end.

I have been told that the best conversion tool which provided excellent music quality is Poikosoft?s Easy CD-DA Extractor. Can Chinese Democracy get any better?
Has anyone else got a Nokia N series phone and has tried this?
