Seems like this is a monitor mix like 2006 Donnington.
They say "This is a mix Axl's in-ear monitor with audience recording, so you can hear Axl's comment to staffs.." something like that.
Nice quality! I love Axl's laugh on Better. ;D
Thanks for the info. Estebanf.

Google Translation:

AXL ROSE on stage at the use of IEM (in ear monitors) and arena seats, A Block Flows
Turned into a mass from low 生音 Events, a full matrix material and the finest audience
Su. Not only that, the only thing not listening audience recording, made over a full-length show to hear things
Ru, AXL ROSE the barrage of bad jokes and paste command to work over Iyamoni crew members and of course,
I recorded it all is.

So, it's really Ear Mix + Audience

I smell a lawsuit.  ;)

If the system is wireless (and it probably is) you wouldn't need the crew or staff to record it.  You'd just need an IEM and the right  frequency..tap into it, and then line in to a recording device.

At least, that's how I understand it....Can anyone confirm?

Exactly. Some bands solved this problem by releasing SBD versions themselves...for other bands, you can find 2 or 3 different sources from the same show a couple of days after the concert. I stopped downloading GN'R boots a few years ago, and I see it has not changed. People still wait on those japanese companies. The only difference is that back in the day they used to make silver CDs. Hopefully things will be different when the band is in Canada.

In a public domain is NOT the place to go, learned that lesson last time (12/17 and 12/20) collections.

They both worked out fine, but for a higher price.

People actually paid to get amateur filmed DVDs? I think I already stopped collecting boots by then, I don't remember this.

Anyway, let's get back on topic. I think the show (either those "CDRs" or the actual recording) will get online eventually on DIME or whatever. We just have to wait. Unless it covers the costs of these CDRs plus shipping (like $5), I don't think people should pay for this. Just my opinion though.

The incident I was referring to was in 06 when a board member collected money from a ton of people and promised to deliver the Hammerstein DVDs and then just took the money and left.

But as you said, we'll all just wait at this point anyways. It's good knowing it's out there and it'll eventually be shared with all of us.

Its almost hard to believe this is Axl 2009. It is fucking with my head listening to these samples (which I can't stop doing). He really sounds unreal, like he discovered and ingested some kind of rejuvenation potion.

So where the fuck are we on this boot? Any chance we will have it to listen and rock out to over the holiday (please please please)? This shit is a dream. I wasnt to hear the whole concert this way. Sounds so good and this concert itself seems like one in a million.

Axl has never sounded good in these kind of recordings. Remember that completely forgettable osaka 2002 monitor mix? he sounds like shit there, like in donington 2006 in that ''micpad'' recording.

BUT i really think ALL SINGERS sound bad in these kind of recordings.

Anyway, even though I have to admit Axl's vocals sucked at Prostitute, he nailed it pretty good in catcher, TIL and Nice Boys

it is my humble opinion that most of the boots from 01-07 sounded a helluva lot better(vocally) than these from asia....
the band has never sounded better in my opinion, however.....axl does not sound as good as should be expected from him....
whole lotta rosie and nice boys and the oldies sound great, but on most of the CD material, meh, not so great....

Yeah, compare a lot of boots where his voice is mixed properly with the other instruments with a Ear Mix where Axl's voice is everywhere...

As estebanf said, if you compare this to other ear-mix boots, it's the same thing. Axl sounds horrible in every ear mix boots, IMO. Osaka 2002, Donnington 2006, Chiba 2007...

I'll wait to audience recordings than we can figure out how his voice really sounded

but then how do you explain that it is part shit and part the excellence that is axl?
whole lotta rosie & nice boys presents us with an axl that sounds angrier and meaner than he has in many years and it sounds flawless(and is an in ear mix), but on TIL and CITR he is sometimes so out of tune that even my deaf grandma would have shook her head in disbelief...

A mirror for the file with the 4 songs: http://dl.free.fr/htPNWrLTh

I didn't think Axl's vocals would be so "powerful" compared to the instruments (guitar, bass, drums, etc.), maybe that's why it sounds different, because it's supposed to be what Axl was hearing, not the audience...

Because some of you have obvious difficulties seeing the difference between a bootleg discussion and an obvious Dead Horse topic.

Then you start whining when we clean up the thread after your mess.  There's obvious attention seekers who love nothing more than to start shit in every other thread. Even one about a fucking bootleg of all places. ::)

You cry like little kids about your posts being removed.

Just so you know, just because the crying works on your parents, doesn't mean it works on me. Deal with it.

Next time you try to be a smart ass will be the last. And crying won't help.

Just like now because you just had to whine about it.

Jarmo, man, I don't want to get in a fight.

I just didn't get why me saying I thought Axl sounded great here and that those criticizing should see this in the context of:
Axl being in his late 40s, these shows being 3+ hours long (i.e. of course he's gonna show some signs of fatigue as the set wears on - being fucking human), this being his in-ear mix rather than a full soundboard etc. was removed.

I thought these were good points worth considering as part of the thread. I wasn't 'crying like a baby' over it, I just thought admin might at least keep my posts up when I'm defending the group and trying to help people get a little perspective.

If it was deleted as part of a wider thing, taking out a whole conversation that was deemed irrelevant, fair enough, I misunderstood.

(Reading back, it seems like I did. If so, my apologies for being quick on the draw)

Now that i have listened several times to the tracks, i think it's great to be able to hear Axl's and Tommy's comments (it's Tommy right?), especially about the record, the "prep for Sorry", etc. Tommy "The General" Stinson.

I'm pretty sure 'cause the uploader said she got those 4 files from the boot seller as for samples for making up her mind to buy or not.
And I guess Axl's voice is too louder than the instruments in ear monitor, they had to mix it with an audience recording.

I guess we'll have to do it then. The only problem is to sync the audio with the video, sometimes it can take a while to do it (which is why they didn't do it I guess). I should get the DVDR set as well, we have to wait on a good audio source for Osaka then.

I could do it in 2007, when I worked as video editor. Now I dont really have time and a good PC to do it, but I don't think it would be that hard or take that much time to sync if you record, authorize and sell bootleg DVDs for that price. :p

So we'll have both sources for Tokyo to compare. In this one we'll be able to hear Axl's and Tommy's comments. "Prep for Sorry!" ;D

The uploader added this for this torrent: "*******KEEP LOSSLESS!! PLEASE DO NOT ENCODE TO LOSSY***********" (he didn't put that in the first torrent).
So no sharing in MP3 format. :(
We can upload FLACs on mirror servers, but it's gonna take a while!

I can understand that. I'll just burn it to CD for myself and delete the huge files. That's acceptable right?

The person on Trader's Den may have bought the CD and uploaded it, but he did not record it. What's to stop someone else who 'buys' the CD from ripping it to mp3 format?

Yes, he's been kind enough to share the recording, but he doesn't own it exclusively and did not make it.

It seems a strange position to take, telling people what formats they can trade someone else's recording in.

What if I purchase it, and decide to share it as MP3s? Isn't that my choice?

This isn't the taper uploading, it's another person who bought it if I'm not mistaken.

If I uploaded it first and said 'don't trade MP3s, but do so in personal space' then I could share those files right?

Is this like a 'whoever speaks up first, gets to rule the roost' kinda thing?

First of all, I have to repeat once again I do not like MP3, dont collect them, dont understand grabing them if there's a lossless copy available.

BUT:

- What if you do not have an internet connection at home, and you only get the music you love in a cyber or at job or at a friends house? How can you download a 1,4 gb thing? I did that for years... for example. Not all the world is Sweden or Canada, where if you dont have an internet connection you're a fucking alien...let's break the bubble for a bit

- What if you think downloading a 1,4 gb thing is a waste of space, time and money, when a 150 mb thinks sounds almost exactly the same?

- What if you live in the third world, in a country where the best internet connection is 512 kb? How can you download 1,4 gb that way?

Not allowing MP3 is elitist, unreasonable, and selfish. Yes, you can tell me ''go buy your recording and do whatever you want with it''. I have news for you: these bootleg companies dont ship to southamerica, otherwise I would have bought it myself.

Lets all the uploaders start to make this stupid requirements at once and we will see this community fall to pieces. I would understand this shit a little more if the sinigami dude was the recorder, and he made that decision after living a nightmare with security guards and things like that, but hell no! And if you want to spoil japanese bootlegs companies business, this is not the best way, trust me.

While these are good points, I have to agree with keeping it FLAC only for now. Respecting the dude's wishes doesn't seem like such a bad thing, in the spirit of creating a community, the community has to have people who share the bootlegs with us, and respecting ones wishes i think goes a long way towards that.

The whole thing's ridiculous. When you put something on the internet you forfeit your rights to tell someone what to do with it. If this were the taper talking about only wanting his recording put out a certain way, fair enough. We're talking about a bootleg thats changing hands for hundreds of dollars here. I would have thought it was in the fanbase's best interests to share it for free in as many ways and formats as possible.

Let me get this straight, are we actually being encouraged to go out and buy another CD copy to convert?! So, give $100+ to the assholes who are selling this thing rather than just convert the existing files?

In about a week, other people will have these boots so surely we'll be able to share MP3s. Let's share FLACs at least for this one in the meantime. I think we can wait a few days for MP3s.

About servers speeds, sorry I didn't know the free.fr server was slow for people outside France. Here I got 800kbps this morning, and about 150kbps on the MediaFire server when I tested downloads. It must depend on where you're located and at what time of the day you download.
Next time, I'm ok to upload on MediaFire or whatever but I thought the free.fr server was cool because there's no waiting time, no registration required, etc. (at least from here). Sorry if it was too slow for you.

Not to be a dick, but I really don't understand people getting angry over FREE stuff either. Having said that, I have a question;

I got the whole thing downloaded in FLAC and analyzed it but came up with errors on some tracks. I was just wondering if I was the only one. It was these:

Disc 2
SR
KoHD

Disc 3
Madagascar
Better
Nice Boys

Am I the only one?

Since I have previously uploaded conversions here, I think its pretty clear I already have the mp3s.

Yes, its very selfish to want to share the recording with everyone in a manageable format.

Clearly I'd get a lot out of that.

Clearly, what I should be doing is encouraging the expensive and illegal sale of bootlegs, like you. Because I'm sure that's what the band, the fans, and everyone else would prefer.  ::)

Your needs are firsthand and nobody else matters.

Yes, I'm a horrible, horrible selfish person.

check ANY other bootleg - EVERY uploader says "don't convert to mp3" - but it ALWAYS happens. and this is no exception. it's as odd condition as "play only at $100000+ hifi stereo". the only reason for this is to keep quality. ok - but if somebody wants qualty, he always has FLACs. if the uploader doesn't want FLACs converted from MP3s, everyone can do spectral analysis. prohibiting mp3s is just hypocritical and against basic common sense. you just can't stop MP3s from spreading. if you block them here, they appear on some other forum. if you want to support the uploader, say a BIG THANK YOU to him, or send him money. but this just makes no sense.

I agree with what most of you guys are saying, but I'm not the original uploader, and Jarmo isn't either.
You guys should have this discussion with the uploader on thetradersden, not here.

Personnally, I downloaded the FLACs, I thanked him and I uploaded some of the FLACs here. I converted them to MP3 so I could listen to them on my MP3 player but that's it.

As Jarmo said:

Come to think about it, I don't care. If there's no new GN'R bootlegs released, it wouldn't really bother me. I'm sure it would bother some of you guys a lot.

I understand it's frustrating to respect the uploader's wish, but as I said, I'm sure other people will receive their bootlegs soon. I'm sure we can wait a few days. If really some people can't download the FLACs, I'm sure we could do some kind of B+P or whatever.

GNR bootlegs aren't going to cease to exist because one anally-retentive uploader of commercially sold Japanese boots gets pissed off about mp3s.

I thought the philosophy of a trading section was freely sharing what's available amongst fans and including as many people as possible, not encouraging people to throw their money at the kind of people who would sell a bootleg for $150.

I feel a damn lot more sympathy for the fans who can't listen to this in FLAC format and are being made to wait or 'buy a copy' than I do for the people who are excluding them from enjoying it. But then again,

Your needs are firsthand and nobody else matters.

See, we just have to wait. ;) People, please stop arguing about everything all the time. This is just a bootleg, just a file format. Cotis talked about buying some of these bootlegs before, so we can trust him about this I think. We'll be able to share these MP3 files once it's uploaded.

I don't understand why people are angry at the board. We didn't come up with this rule, it was the uploader's decision. Maybe you should try to explain that to him on thetradersden?

Angry at the board for not allowing to freely do what is desired with it, is more like it.

You can put all the claims you want on a download, and people will not always follow them.

There are people here that don't even know what FLAC is, and I can understand that. Giving them MP3's, which they will be able to play, will let them listen to their favorite band on one of the best nights of the tour (thus far). So in essence, you are NOT allowing the fans to hear their favorite band. Not everyone has the plugins, programs, etc. to play FLAC and you are leaving out a BIG CHUNK of the GNR fans. Why cut them out, let everyone listen to the recording.

Don't get me wrong: I am not questioning the discussion of quality, FLAC is by far the better quality.

Not allowing the MP3's here, and forcing us to purchase our own copies not only hurts us financially, but also the band. Making us buy recordings from these Japanese Sellers is just furthering their business, giving them more money for their pockets, so they can record again and sell more shows. Aren't we supposed to be supporting the band, not Japanese sellers?

..sorry for three posts in a row, don't want to edit.

Wasn't the motive here before that we couldn't share the MP3's? Kind of why I just made my post above this?

But now that I have my own copy, I'm able to post the mp3's for all? Just want to get this right, since I was under a different impression the whole time.

**EDIT**
And don't get me wrong, this is in no way to disrespect the uploader/tapers, this is to allow this recording to reach all GNR fans, not a select few.

I thank all involved in this for your effort, it's a great release. I have always stood by the motive, if you tape/film a show -- you can do whatever you want with it (sell it, trade it, "hoard" it, etc.) because you took the risk of getting caught in order to capture the moment. I thank the tapers, maybe not agree with their selling, but they did a great job recording this.

As I said, I will post the mp3's for ALL FANS tonight.

Not allowing the MP3's here, and forcing us to purchase our own copies...

No one forced anyone to purchase anything.
The bottom line is: I wanted to share the MP3 links as soon as last night, but I decided to respect the uploader's wish because we thought it was the best idea, in order to avoid other people hoarding releases. But in the end, as Jarmo put it, you guys can take the chance to piss the uploader off and share MP3s of this, since Jarmo doesn't care because he doesn't collect bootlegs like us.

Is it really worth it that we go on an on for 10 pages about this?

I know that whenever I get new bootlegs and torrent them or whatever, I don't care if people post MP3s, AVIs or something. Not all people are like this, but I don't think it's that important.

I apologize for thinking ahead. Or at least trying to.

Won't happen again regarding bootlegs.

Sorry.

Share all the mp3s, and risk pissing off all the tapers and/or people who share the bootlegs first.

Because that's how it's done! Respect for others' wishes? Fuck that, give me what I need now or fuck off.

So in the future, do what you want.

Nobody will be whining on this board about bootlegs in the future. No matter what happens.

Not me. For every person who wants to dictate to others how they can listen to music, there's more people like Cotis who care about sharing stuff with the fans.

By the way, the shows locker posted are already being shared on this site as mp3 - and I didn't hear any protests from you or the rest of admin then.

I thought you were done with talking about this anyway, being as you're not interested in bootlegs? Or is the opportunity to gloat at fans just too hard for you to resist?

You may not know me because I stopped collecting bootlegs a while ago but I did a lot for the community as well, authored many DVDs and shared lots of stuff. For this one, I just tried to respect the uploader's wish.

As for the community, it may be more interesting if people stopped arguing about everything and taking cheap shots at each other. I don't think I ever protested about shows being shared as MP3s, just in this case because it was asked.

Can we now go back to the sharing side of it (FLACs and/ or MP3s whenever they will be up), instead of fighting each other? Thanks.

I'm afraid you still fail to see the other point of view. 1) respect the uploader, 2) share for free. which one is more important? are you going to respect someone who sells bootlegs which are meant to be traded for free?

exactly the same situation as selling pirated software. if someone uploads pirated software (let's say something that can't be bought legal way anymore), are you going to worship him for uploading it or will you send police at him for violating the law?

about technical aspects, me or estebanf already wrote above. I don't think the ultimate solution is to ban mp3s from this thread. if you do it, you have to delete EVERY OTHER MP3 shared here - because EVERY original bootleg says "don't convert to mp3". what do you think about it now?

As I said, I have no issues with sharing mp3s. Share mono mp3s encoded at 96kbps for all I care.

The question is that the FIRST source asked his upload not to be shared as mp3s. We chose to respect the wish of the first uploader. The person who made it possible for all of us to get the bootleg for free.

Does that make any sense? You're pissed off at us because we respected somebody else's wish? Are you serious?

Why don't you all go harass the guy instead? It's his "fault"!

What's the problem? What's the big fucking deal here? You can't wait a few days until more sources become available? People who love sharing mp3s.

More sources/uploads are becoming available. Which means you'll get your beloved mp3s.

As I said, from now on feel free to piss off everybody who shares stuff for free. I don't care.

haha, I'm not pissed off, I'm just amazed of this absurd situation.

and my beloved mp3s? I have (almost) every circulating GNR show in FLAC either already sharing, or ready to share at gunsnroses.us tracker. that is about 600GB of data which I'm contributing 24/7 to anyone who wants it and can afford downloading it. I don't keep mp3 versions of those. I'd just like to deliver bootlegs to people who just can't download FLACs. that's all.

(credit for all this stuff goes to locker - I'm just waiting for him to upload the rest so I can join and seed. thanks man!)

Since you asked (despite saying about 4 times now that you don't care), the big deal was that you suggested to fans 'buy a copy and encode it yourself' - i.e. give another $150 to the bootleg sellers rather than work with what was already freely available, and dubbed those who wanted to share it with as many fans as possible as selfish.

like i said if it was not for me buying things from japan a dew different sources of the 06 shows may never have bin released
not all jap boots are that way but a few are my point is let's see u 99.9%  go spend about 10 15 thousand in boots since 02 and release for free see how you feel weather u like sharing or not it just is not right people want low quality off stuff they  did not buy or will not buy

for example destroyer costs 100.00 in japan how many of you people bought it or just jumped it free or ask mp3 free
because all i hear oh i have no space or my net is slow ect  now is it our fault as buyers that u have those issues no but u expect free free free  stuff

Yeah, I mean if you really need the mp3s ASAP, instead of demanding them for free, maybe you should just start paying for the expensive bootlegs.

I find it ridiculous myself.

I'm grateful for being able to download bootlegs for free. I don't demand anything.

I don't really feel like I have to get everything ASAP or have some kind of mission to piss off the ones who make it possible for me to get the bootlegs for free.

But that's just me.

I'm not part of any "GN'R bootleg community" and it's quite obvious why.

You are pissed off at us for respecting the original uploader's wishes. That's fucking ridiculous.

As I said, take it up with him.

I don't have the time or interest to play stupid games with a few select individuals who think its their human right to download bootleg mp3s for free.

As I said, in the future, do whatever the fuck you want. I just don't give a fuck!

There's no rules for bootlegs from now on.

Sort it out yourselves.

To me it seems like you haven't been able to sort anything out at all in years. Just the same endless bickering. Have fun!

But then again, you knowing that would be contingent on you actually reading the thread before you go off on your pointless rants things that you repeatedly say you don't care about.

Sarcasm and jokes is something you don't seem to get.

If you're in such a hurry to get something, then maybe you should order it from Japan and get it first. That was the whole fucking point that went over your head.

The pointless rants are courtesy of you and your kind. People who are upset that we decided to RESPECT somebody else's wish.

If you were running this site for profit, you'd be making money out of other people's contributions. A little like those bootleggers who charge $150 a time. The ones you suggest people give their money to rather than sharing for free.

i don't understand all the moaning and complaining about boot's formats, however im pretty thankful to whoever brought the bootlegs to the boards.

Obviously some people like to have a smaller format (mp3), for ipods its better also...but like Jarmo said, you gotta know how to live and respect the guy's feelings about his bootlegs.

If the guy doesn't want mp3's than don't do mp3's with his bootleg, however if anyone else buys it... then thats their choice and they can share it however they want it.

But i also appeal to some good sense here.  :hihi: To both, bootlegers and downloading motherfuckers

I will be uploading and spreading around the mp3 all over the internet as soon as i get home.

I truly dont give a fuck about the uploader's ''wish'' of not converting them to mp3. You cant tell me what to do with MY files. Once they're in my PC, they're mine and its up to me what I do with them. If you at HTGTH dont allow them, fine, you will not see this upload from me nor any other one from now on.

I feel, as a fan, that I cant deny other fans the chance of listening to the same music im enjoying as hell.  Its unfair, and extremely selfish. I can perfectly live without ''sinigamis huge contribution to the GNR community''... geez, who's him? If we were talking about Limulus, Cotis, Gunnershome or Zombux i'll think about it twice. It's kinda like a payback: i got EVERYTHING i got for free, thank to people sharing freely. I am a GNR fan basically because of unofficial recordings like this one. When I was only able to manage mp3, there were people uploading them for me and other people like me (remember ''gnrbootlegsforum.tk''? I remember Zombux there, but not Sinigami... ). Now I feel like I have things to return to this community. And ''sinigami'' is not gonna stop me, sorry.

The only ocassion where it should be acceptable to pay one fucking dime to bootleggers is to LIBERATE the bootleg. Once its liberated, we should NEVER spend once cent to buy bootlegs. To companies or to individuals. Denying the fans to have 1 mp3 copy is encouraging the sales of these companies.

Saying that ''the trading community could end right here, right now, that I would never give a fuck'' is perfectly understandable for a guy that have seen the band live like 30 times, diff lineups. But this is not a legit parameter.

In another hand, I am sick of speculation around ''rare'' bootlegs. This is supposed to be fun, but how could this be fun without the music? Wont wait anyone, wont wait for any future trades, wont wait for anything. I will share what I have right now. There could possibly be 4 o 5 angry people (hoarders)... but how many happy fans?

Saying that ''the trading community could end right here, right now, that I would never give a fuck'' is perfectly understandable for a guy that have seen the band live like 30 times, diff lineups. But this is not a legit parameter.

In another hand, I am sick of speculation around ''rare'' bootlegs. This is supposed to be fun, but how could this be fun without the music? Wont wait anyone, wont wait for any future trades, wont wait for anything. I will share what I have right now. There could possibly be 4 o 5 angry people (hoarders)... but how many happy fans?

Good points well made. I think there's only a couple of people here who truly feel otherwise - and one of them 'doesn't give a fuck about the trading community' - which shows you how much they care about other fans enjoyment. If you live in a territory where the band rarely visits and aren't in a privileged position of seeing multiple shows per show, the trading community is pretty damn important to you.

Nice to see some people put the fans first.

What fun to see the great enthusiasm over the mp3's vs FLAC's discussions here  ;D

However, I'm not gonna opinionize- just wanted to say a big THANK YOU for sharing these files for free!!!
Downloading them FLACS right now, gonna burn them to a cd (or 3), put them in my stereo, take a beer, order a pizza, and enjoy this AMAZING show!

axlrosegnr: about the files you mentioned, it doesn't work for me either. Maybe we should try to upload them on MegaUpload or something?

Yeah, I don't give a fuck because I'm not that interested in that scene where you bicker year after year about who said what and how this is better than that blah blah blah.

Bootlegs are a nice bonus, not something essential.

I can enjoy GN'R's music by listening to the studio albums.  :)

When I see people like yourself attack Will and myself because we chose to respect somebody's wishes, it just makes me realize why I don't want any part of your little "scene".

Good points well made. I think there's only a couple of people here who truly feel otherwise - and one of them 'doesn't give a fuck about the trading community' - which shows you how much they care about other fans enjoyment.

You better take that back.

You're saying I don't care about other fans enjoyment? Pretty fucking insulting.

I've ran this site for over 13 years now.I find your comment highly insulting and disrespectful. So I suggest you apologize for it ASAP.

The whole "I don't give a fuck about what happens to the so called trading community" is more about a select few individuals. I tried to help by making sure the original source's wishes were respected until more sources became available, and I got shit for it. So from now on, I'm not gonna bother trying to help anything. That's the part I don't care about, you're on your fucking own. Piss off the tapers or whatever, I don't care!

I didn't say anything about not caring about those who like to download GN'R bootlegs and/or other fans. Get it?

When you say something aimed at a select little group of fans, suddenly you hate everybody. That whole tactic has been used in the past.

So, I'll be awaiting your apology.

Something I don't expect to see considering you have some kind of personal agenda going on against me.

I do want to point out the absurdity to everybody here though. Getting attacked for not caring about fellow fans. Really? You don't find that insulting?

13+ years of not caring for other fans.

Thank you, nice to know you like to come here and actually respect/appreciate what we do.

If you wanna shit on what I do, maybe you need to do it somewhere else so you don't have to deal directly with me.

I tried to follow this discussion a bit and I'm truely amazed by all the negativity around... But then again, I'm kinda used to it now... :) Jarmo did put it well when he mentioned bootlegs are a bonus IMO.
But as a true collector myself: It's mainly about communication, right? My opinion? As long as it is mentioned correctly with the download (torrent for example) whether a show is in flac or mp3, I'm pleased...

We now have a Flac/MP3 thing going on. But back in the days:
A few years ago it was all about hoarders, and mystical shows that 'had' to be around, but were hoarded... Before that were the different trackers and their so-called wars... And I even traded 80% of my collection through postal mail with true CD-r's. Talking 'bout 8-10 years ago. And back then people were complaining about the cheap Memorex CD-r's used!  ;D

Now I understand people want the stuff they bought (for $$$$) to be shared in the best possible quality around. I myself like to have it in the best quality on CD-r (no Memorex! ;) ) But I ALSO understand people who just want MP3's. I myself like to have it and put it together with some other mp3 sourced bootlegs  on a mp3 cd-r to be played in my mp3 car stereo. Hours of bootleg pleasure on 1 CD! ;)

I honestly hereby like to thank EVERY-SINGLE-ONE of you who once put out a bootleg in any format at all. I've torrented a few back in the days, but since most of my stuff (you guys do have that Atoms demo (http://www.xs4all.nl/~remenmar/izzy.htm#atoms (http://www.xs4all.nl/~remenmar/izzy.htm#atoms)) from the early 80s with Izzy on drums right? Anyway, the quality sucks, so... ;) ) is easy to get now, I don't have much to offer... But, I did transfer this old interview ('87) with Axl and Slash from LP the other day (in England, with a nice quote of Axl about the 2 gay guys who had a record store - he mentioned them recently at an Asian gig, in the Bob Dylan story) so maybe you guys might like that one... I'll try and make a mp3 out of it tomorrow. And why not, I'll try and fix you all a FLAC one as well!! ;)

Again, I truely LOVE all the stuff you guys (and you know who you are) share, just wanted to put down my opinion. I'm not mad or anything or asking for apologies (j/k jarmo ;) ) and really hope you understand my humour and irony... (and I mean, Jesus Christ I use a lot of smileys! Just saw it in my preview... ;) )
To speak with Axl: "Ha!"

Remco!

I noticed some people having trouble with certain files on mediafire, if this is the case, feel free to PM me directly and let me know what issue your having, what files you need, and if there are any other services (i.e. rapidshare or megaupload) that work best for you for those files. This thread is a bit much to sort through, so just feel free to PM me directly.

I just don't think it's that respectful to be labeled as a person "who doesn't care for other fans' enjoyment".

Do you?

Nice to see some of you are able to put your personal agendas aside.

If you think what I do, and have done for years, means that I don't care about other fans' enjoyment, good for you.

Personally I think that's you taking a huge shit on everything I've done over the years.

But whatever.

Nice to know the true colors of some of you.  :)

Now, before the two of you go and twist this around (yet again), I'm not asking anybody to kiss my ass etc.

I just happen to find that comment disrespectful.

One time I met Jarmo at a GNR show, and he saw I was having a good time, so he punched me in the face. Then he asked if I was a member at htgth, and I said yes, so he stole all my money and said he was owed it for hosting. Then he asked me how many news articles I ever read on the site, and demanded 35 cents for each one. Then, to top it all off, he put chloroform over my mouth, disrobed me, stole my gnr shirt, and re-dressed me in a kenny loggins shirt. Then I remember coming to, and he was pushing me into the mosh pit, I think he had pierced my ears too, and he was just screaming "welcome to the danger zone, you ass!." Cuz' thats just the kind of guy Jarmo is, he doesn't care about the fans.

That's for you fuckers who don't get sarcasm!

UPLOADS ARE ABOUT SHARING WITH OTHERS, NOT TAGGING YOUR NAME ON SHIT. EVERYTHING ISN'T THE END ALL OF THE FUCKING WORLD, IT'S A GOD DAMN CONCERT. IF THE COMMUNITY REALLY TURNS TO THIS, BECAUSE OF SOMETHING THIS SMALL, THEN THERE IS NO COMMUNITY AT ALL.

The trading community is not a few select individuals. I find your dismissal of the community insulting and disrespectful. You trivialize and dismiss their enjoyment of the band and their ability to hear shows. You don't care about bootlegs, so apparently they're 'not essential'. Oh yeah, you really care about fans being able to enjoy these recordings.

I find your comments that those who share files with fans 'only care about themselves' insulting and disrespectful.

Difference is, I don't gloat every time someone agrees with me or demand apologies every time my precious feelings are hurt.

Where's your apology?

Oh right. Exactly as a predicted.

The trading community as a whole isn't the issue here. Because there are people in it who agree with me.

Is that the issue? No.

The real issue is you making generalizations while pursuing this personal agenda (?) you have. While doing so, you've made yourself look like a fool.

If you could put those feelings aside, you wouldn't be labeling me as a "person who doesn't care for other fans' enjoyment" now would you?

Just because you don't agree with a person because of his/her opinion on a matter doesn't mean you have to take a shit on what he/she has done previously. Which is what you did.

I don't expect you to understand. It's easier to just keep going on about what a stupid dick I am.

You're very good at it and I wouldn't disrespect you by saying otherwise.

FYI: I'm one of those who has shared files so I guess I'm being disrespectful towards myself as well?  ???
I started sharing mp3s on this very site back in 1997. February 8, 1997 to be more exact. Remember that?

Of course not.

What else do you wanna attack me for?

Go ahead. This seems to be the topic of this thread (once again, I've become the topic). I must be the favorite topic some of you have. The amount of attention I get is astounding.  :-[

Oh the irony.... This was probably the first GN'R site (or home page as they were called back then) to share mp3s....

Regarding bootlegs not being essential, it's called my opinion. Am I allowed to have one or does it annoy you that I do?

Bootlegs didn't make me a fan of GN'R. So to me, personally speaking, only speaking on my own behalf without trying to piss off any person and/or the community/nation/group/club he/she might be or consider him/herself to be part of.

Go ahead. This seems to be the topic of this thread (once again, I've become the topic). I must be the favorite topic some of you have. The amount of attention I get is astounding.  :-[

At least a half dozen times now you've said you don't give a fuck about this whole situation, and about half a dozen times you've come back with lengthy posts about it. Accusing me or anyone else of making this thread about you seems a bit rich.

Yes, you've done great work for the site. Nobody said otherwise. If I had said 'Jarmo doesn't give a fuck about GNR' or 'Jarmo doesn't do a good job running the message board', I'd apologize.

Saying you don't give a fuck about fan's enjoyment, clearly talking about bootlegs, in a paragraph about bootlegs, in a bootleg forum, on a bootleg thread when you've said bootlegs don't matter and that you 'don't give a fuck about what happens to the trading community' doesn't seem like much of a stretch on my part, or a wild accusation.

The amount of insults you dole out to fans on a seemingly daily basis is pretty staggering, yet you seem to take offense very easily.

If you think I've made a fool of myself, fine, I'll live with that. I'd rather be considered a fool than be accused of acting like a God.

Anyway, thanks to the uploaders; Jarmo, if it weren't implied by us being here, thanks for the site.

No, you see this has no effect on me. I got way more important things on my agenda. Trust me! :)

I do comment on things I don't agree with and in this case I find it ridiculous how this guy can attack me for something so ridiculous as "not caring for other fans' enjoyment". I mean, come on!

It's pretty creative, I'll give you that. But still, it comes down to one fact: It's bullshit!

Sure, you can think that. You're free to believe whatever the fuck you want.

Read my posts and make up your mind about the kind of person that I am. I don't care. I know some do that. Not much I can do about it, so why worry about it?

But to me personally, once again this is only my opinion and I'm not trying to piss off you or your scene, it just looks like a pathetic attempt at getting back at somebody who you don't agree with (or like).

You don't like me? Fair enough. Chances are you're a stranger to me. A guy on a message board that I never met....  That kind of people don't ruin my days. Any more than the other strangers we encounter daily. :)

The amount of insults you dole out to fans on a seemingly daily basis is pretty staggering, yet you seem to take offense very easily.

Well the funny thing is, that those guys seem to get insulted. Do I go on other sites talking about you? No I don't.

Trust me, I don't get insulted. I just point out shit I don't agree with.

Like in this case, I didn't agree with disrespecting the original source's wishes. I still don't.

But if I cared a bit yesterday, I care way less now! I learned from this. This is the whole "I don't care" thing. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less.

I was naive enough to think that if we get the best possible copies out first, people who want mp3s would have patience to wait a little while. But I should've known better.

As I said, I learned from this and I hope you all get the mp3s you deserve! And if you don't because people refuse to share, oh well. Right?

Anyway, thanks to the uploaders; Jarmo, if it weren't implied by us being here, thanks for the site.

You're very welcome!

When I see people like yourself attack Will and myself because we chose to respect somebody's wishes, it just makes me realize why I don't want any part of your little "scene".

I am not attacking you or Will.

And I truly can make a difference between Will and you. Sorry to say this, but its the pure truth.

Its easy to tell that Will is doing his best to spread the GNR live music, because he's been uploading stuff from day zero of this new tour, and he has some big ''history'' in the trading community. Its also easy to see that Will knows how a good trading / sharing community is or should be, and that he understands the importance of the light and ''friendly'' mp3 format. He uploaded SEVERAL mp3 boots these days, and all of us were grateful with him.

You just dont give a fuck about this subject. How can you give a shit if you attended the show in question, and all other asian shows from this year and some from past years? Well, i got news for you, your case is one in a million. I truly dont think you love GNR more than me. Difference is I cant see GNR live everytime i want.

There were LOTS of people asking not to convert their uploads to mp3 (like prisby) in the past. it was done anyway, and I have never see you ''moderating'' this section back then.

I really think you just wanted to play some role in this subject, and found a whole lot of people (long time collectors) thinking the opposite than you, and with very good arguments you can only counterattack with that ''respect uploader's wish'' crap.

I have nothing against you (God... dont add me to your black list of people who have ''agendas'' against you  ::) ). But I truly think you should contemplate the possibility of being wrong sometimes. Calling this trading community a ''little scene'' wasn't very nice at all. I think this ''little scene'' did and is doing an enormous job spreading the GNR music for free to fans and people all over the world.

I really think you just wanted to play some role in this subject

Just to add my 2 cents about this, I actually first talked to Jarmo about it and we both decided to respect the uploader's wish, so I don't think Jarmo wanted to have anything to do with this in the first place. ;)
I do apologize for these long discussions and for talking about it in the first place, but I didn't think people would argue about something like this.

I think Jarmo posted here because people started arguing about something that we both thought was right, but of course I don't want to speak for him.

I like MP3 for some reasons, but Flac is better and if I want I can download a free converter to make my own mp3's outta anything, so man up and turn off the fucking childish school girl whining.... :crying: :crying: :crying:

That's not the problem. Think a bit more. Not all the world is USA or Sweden. There is not a broadband connection at every house in places like southamerica, central america, africa, asia and other places. But GNR fans are everywhere. Its not easy, even for me, to download 1,4gb of stuff. I still manage to do it, cause I dont like lossy stuff.

Problem is HOW to get the 1,4 gb thing. Yes, obviously, once you have it, converting it is quite simple.

You can convert the 1,4 gb thing into 150 mb in one minute. 40 minutes later, you can have the files up. 10 minutes later, a whole bunch of thousands of fans can enjoy the music you and I are enjoying.

But there is STILL people trying to deny the fans that chance, just because they werent born in the first world. THATS pathetic.

You just dont give a fuck about this subject. How can you give a shit if you attended the show in question, and all other asian shows from this year and some from past years? Well, i got news for you, your case is one in a million.

So that's it?

I truly dont think you love GNR more than me. Difference is I cant see GNR live everytime i want.

I didn't even know this was an issue.

I never claimed anything like that.

There were LOTS of people asking not to convert their uploads to mp3 (like prisby) in the past. it was done anyway, and I have never see you ''moderating'' this section back then.

In this case, the fact that it said so was brought to my attention.

As you might've guessed by now, bootlegs aren't a "big deal" to me. I honestly haven't paid that much attention to what formats are out there or what masters, versions, re-authorings etc. are out there.

I download the occasional bootleg and listen to it. It's a nice memory to have.

But as I stated earlier, it didn't make me a fan. So it's not a necessarily to me.

I can see how that might be different for you. You upload a lot of stuff so maybe you have a reputation as "the mp3 guy". I have no idea. If that is insulting or disrespectful, it wasn't meant to be.

I just haven't been following theis whole scene that closely and the more I see, the less I wanna know.

I really think you just wanted to play some role in this subject, and found a whole lot of people (long time collectors) thinking the opposite than you, and with very good arguments you can only counterattack with that ''respect uploader's wish'' crap.

Wrong!!!!!!

Just like he pointed out to you, Will asked me what we should do because he noticed it said "no mp3s". So in my stupidity I thought we should respect that wish.

No, there was no evil master plan to piss people off. The whole idea was to not piss off the only known source!

So if you wanna blame somebody, blame Will! He told me!

Funny how you assume things. Without knowing all the facts......

I have nothing against you (God... dont add me to your black list of people who have ''agendas'' against you  ::) ). But I truly think you should contemplate the possibility of being wrong sometimes. No, the little scene would be the little group of people within that big group.

There's always a few who stand out in a bigger group.

you know how much time and money you need to download 1500 megabytes with... dial up? are you kidding me? and keeping the telephone line busy for... 1 week? Its up TO US, now, this right moment, to help people with slow connections. Its NOT UP TO US to help people without any kind of connections. There's nothing we can do about that, except for a few B&P, something I've done A LOT.

Had a nice long reply about this, explaining various things. Unfortunately Mozilla crashed. If I am inspired enough maybe I'll retype it later.

Anyways here are the mp3s.

****DISCLAIMER****: These are for personal use only, not for trading. Do not blacken up the trading pool with these lossy quality files. This re-release of the mp3 version is to reach ALL GNR fans, not just those of us who can listen to FLAC.

Thank you to the taper, buyer, and all involved in it's release and production. You guys did a tremendous job and we all truly appreciate your word -- despite not showing it sometimes.

There's gnr-fansites with real rigid bootleg-source policy.

But there is STILL people trying to deny the fans that chance, just because they werent born in the first world. THATS pathetic.

Because someone is doing it to deny other people in some other world? THATS a pretty evil-spirited conspiracy-theory.

when calculating a show length of 1 band it doesnt help if you count the preshow or support acts or post show when you're still drinking at the beer bar....generally it should be counted like:

(beginning) lights out/intro -> (ending) music post-show on/most likely lights on

.....doing that the exact timeline for Tokyo'09 [starting right before the unreleased intro (not the pre-show) and without the overlapping seconds end CD1/beginning CD2) and without the music in the outro] is:

03:34:53,800 (December 19, 2009 Tokyo)

secondary issues:
- they do 30 songs released under the GN'R name with Axl singing, not counting any Jams/Solos as "songs".

inglewood'91 (same counting as mentioned above, master cassettes source + ~1min outro/Axl talking from a gen1 source which wasnt on the master release here on DIME):

03:38:58,794 (August 03, 1991 Inglewood, LA)

secondary issues:
- they do 31 songs released under the GN'R name with Axl singing, not counting any Jams/Solos as "songs".
- at least 4 cuts cause of cassettes/battery switching where you loose seconds/minutes of the show
- analog speed could be an issue though, however the time is based on the taper release without any casssette generations

do the maths!

The internet is bigger than htgth, and how is respecting the request of an uploader dictatorship? :P

I thought we were done with this whole discussion...

I never said anything about HTGTH being a dictatorship.

The uploader at TD did not create the recording.

He uploaded someone else's recording against the taper's permission, yet expects his wishes to be strictly adhered to. Whether you or I listen to or share the show in mp3 format will not affect him/her personally in any conceivable way, yet he/she wants to dictate to people what format they can share or listen to it in. Locker has expressed similar sentiments, along the lines of 'if you don't listen to this in FLAC format, you shouldn't be able to listen to it at all'.

Pretty much saying 'You shouldn't be able to listen to this on your mp3 player' seems like dictating how you should listen to music to me. What's hard to understand about that?

Can we be done with this now?

mmmhhh.. i thought it was already pretty clear.

http://yfrog.com/3xdestroyerxj (destroyer)
http://yfrog.com/3xmaxxximumj (inglewood)

dBpowerAmp says destroyer is longer than that 08.03.91 crap. 3:39 against 3:38... do you want subjective reasonings or the concrete times? do you want someone's explanation at a message forum or what Axl Rose himself said?

And I dont know if any of you realised this, but the tokyo show has ZERO interreputions from one song to another. One song ends, someone tells Axl what is the next song, and immediatly the song starts. Extremelly different from 1991, where there were huge breaks from one song to another. And no boring 6 minutes of sorums drum solo... zzzZZZZZzzzz

Oh, and qualitywise, there's no comparison between one show and another. The Tokyo show has the November Rain, TIL, Prostitute, TWAT, Catcher and Maddy, plus almost the complete AFD played by a band that makes the 1991 lineup look like newbies.

I'm done with the whole ''longest show'' subject. Its just funny to see how much worried all the haters have been these days. They whined about setlists, they got them!

Now its time to release the HOB 01/01/01 pro-shot DVD   ;D

Post by: Limulus on January 06, 2010, 07:29:31 AM
its no whining, its just talking about the longest show being played under the GN'R name yet, thats all!

so "dBpowerAmp" is your fact?  ;D
or what Axl says right after the show which most likely is judged by watching on clock not on digital counter? he said lots of things not turning out being true aswell as proven in the past. no discredit here (plans change etc.) but the show times differ about 4min! or songs/breaks? just count: its 30 vs. 31 from GN'R catalogue!
quality is no issue here, come on. boring solos? well....subjective, huh? and Jams, solos still present a lot in 09, sfw...

in the end i've only tried to list it as objective as we can make it out of recordings we have judging the showtime only, just read again please and with the exception of the analogue issue or any cuts on the tokyo'09 recording (which i havent found) i think i'm damn right on with calculating show times: lights out/intro on -> lights on/music on  : ok:

I don't get why people who do care about running times of shows discount solos etc. anyway.

A featured spot for a GNR member in a Guns N' Roses show is still part of their set. Surely the time from when GNR hit the stage to the end of the last encore (excluding encore breaks because no one is on stage, if you want to get picky) is the length of the Guns concert.

And thanks for the pics RaspAxl - nice artwork. But then it should be considering how much they charge for the damn thing! ;)

I don't get why people who do care about running times of shows discount solos etc. anyway.

Because some have a really hard time letting the past go. The show they cherished as the longest ever isn't anymore. Tough luck.

If people who are in the band say it was the longest show in history, it was.

Easy as that.

They don't have to listen and time bootleg recordings. They were there!

I prefer IDCAT than this one. Destroyer is the mixed version of Axl's in-ear monior with audience recording and I Don't Care is aud-recording alone but sounds way better IMO.

or is it that people just would love to believe the record being broken because "they said so"?
we have a "digital" recording from the tokyo'09 show as proof for the real playing time from lights out/intro to music(lights) on...which is 3:34:53!
so the digital recorder or editors must be wrong because the band said it different, right?
Inglewood -though analog sourced- with even shorter intro, with cuts cause of tape/battery changing and without "Lupo"-outro is about 4min longer.
but that cant be true because they said so  :hihi:

Well, recapitulating:

- Axl Rose himself, plus other band members, said 12/19/09 is the longest show GNR has ever done

- '''''''''''''''''''''dBpowerAmp'''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' (yes, a software), says the same.

But we still have some whining from our tied to the past friends, claiming ''maxxximum'' is longer.

Game over, haters  :hihi:

So after the FLAC/ MP3 discussion, now we have the Tokyo/ Inglewood duration discussion lol. Do you guys ever take a break from these discussions sometimes? ;D

It's "General" Tommy Stinson that orchestrates the band and him and Axl pick which songs to play next.

mmmhhh.. i thought it was already pretty clear.

http://yfrog.com/3xdestroyerxj (destroyer)
http://yfrog.com/3xmaxxximumj (inglewood)

dBpowerAmp says destroyer is longer than that 08.03.91 crap.

Amazing how some people on this forum have a ZERO TOLERANCE for any negative opinion on the current GNR line-up, but apparently it's ok to shit all over the 1991 lineup...

I think its a draw. The old and new band are awesome live and this new band is also the future and gets me more interested and curious about the cds that are supposed to be released after CD.

This bootleg is awesome though, It left me with a dilema, which one should i have on my mp3  ??? this one or the i dont care about time one?

killer show tokyo'09, overall very pleased with that unexpected long run one + performing quality and the issue we are lucky to have a killer quality audio souvenir (where are all the illusion songs though?  :hihi:) but those all arent the points i've been talking about!! the only point was comparing the real lenght with the other marathon they did back in 1991 just to see which show really has been the longest. technology and recordings are here to do so in some fair way, watch the post above again about how it has been done please. and once again: we have an digital counter as proof about the tokyo'09 show length. so if you really dont trust that and just believe in what band members said about it right during and after the tokyo'09 marathon.....you're little too blindfolded in this case. they surely didnt go off stage tracking the exact show length like some fan freaks like me did earlier yesterday. more realistic issue about their version about the tokyo'09 show: out of such an long performance (also after ~2,5 years live abstinence) its more likely just about excitement, feeling and not correct lenght tracking, maybe even given false info given by the crew like recording started some minutes more early, or too long in the end, or even judged by watching on hand clock, whatever....
when not doing some digital tracking in a show you easily can be wrong. how many times i've thought other killer bands i've seen live have played like 90minutes but turning out it was just about 80min after comparing complete recordings?
and @estebanf: did you even read how the calculating has been done by me? shall i send you the files i've created so you could compare them on any software you have?

in the end my calculations still are there, so are the files everyone can combine/compare to himself, and it all leads to tokyo'09 being the 2nd longest show Axl ever did under the GN'R name yet. might be a downer for some people but it is what it is!

peace out!

Limulus

its ok limulus, honestly, i dont give a flying fuck if tokyo was longer than Inglewood. I really prefer to attend a show with -CD > Sorry > TWAT > Outro- than a 4 hours marathon with a very inferior techicallywise lineup with lots of fillers like 08/03/91. But that's just MY opinion. I respect other ones.

What really amazes me is how violent some tied to the past fans reacted after Axl said this was the longest show. You all act like this is a competition between 2 diff bands when REALITY tells us the band is one from day zero, when Slash and Duff werent even members of the band.

I always thought the resentment some fans have since Slash departure would be decreasing, reaching a zero point. But if after CD's release (no more ''they have to write own material, otherwise they're a cover band'' argument), after 2 inmense and intense tours done by a truly dream team GNR is (no more ''tours will fail, 'cause Axl is nuts'' and ''they cant play the songs like the originals'' arguments), and after burying the good old ''i want sets to be larger, and with more song changes'' argument there's still some haters whining... then it seems nothing will stop them.

There's NOTHING GNR can do to erase whiners. They will always find something to whine about. They are like a evolved-superior race, made with liquid-metal, like the T-1000 in Terminator 2. They, soooner or later, regenerate.

While everyone is focusing on what is now the PAST , again! I'm here wondering what will come with the new shows, and beyond, you can all bicker about show length, and maybe Axl will screw you all and go 4 hrs, maybe 2 one night, maybe 3.5 another, its up to the band and how they respond to the crowd. Long shows are great lots of fun, the point to me is that they are out and playing. And the other point is its great we as fans got to hear these amazing shows. I like many can give a fuck boots , sure if they are there great, I don't fuss format, if I couldn't be at the show , I still would like to hear it if I am able , and yeah I can do the high quality stuff. But End of the day Im grateful for those who shared. Something I will do again when I have the chance and no I wont sing next time! and have better equip! :P  :peace: :hihi:

yeah? all the time you've been promoting tokyo'09 being the longest show ever....when you really dont care? how does that work? off course now when being proved wrong you say you dont care, normal defense here  : ok:, and go right into subjective stuff like better songs, technical skills and even more bringing up other things not having anything to do (own material, tour failing etc.) with the issue which we've been talking about: the longest show! very weak argumentation!!
aint it more like: "damn, they said its the longest, i believe(d) it, omg, it really looks like, fucking awesome.......wait, now its proven not to be, eh, i dont care but subjective its much better, all the old band whiners, bla bla..." so who is really whining here?

band members themselves have been talking about the "record", so fans picked up that issue and finding out it wasnt broken, no matter how great the 09 show has been! if it would have been longer....more power to them and i'd have posted similar description of my comparing.

looking forward to upcoming shows!

Gayest arguement ever on this board!  Everyone stop bitching and be happy.  Science damn all of you!

I rarely ever download bootlegs but I did download this one just to see what the band is sounding like these days....It was pretty cool.  I was more interested in the backstage comments and directions from Axl and whoever than the actual music.  Pretty funny stuff and neat to see how the operation is ran so to speak.

MP3/Flac/etc whatever......it's all the same people.  It's a concert recording, not gonna be high fidelity shit no matter what unless it's done and released by the band.  As for the longest show, who the fuck cares......they had a good time, the fans had a good time, it doesn't get much better than that.

To be pedantic, recording speed is an issue with the Inglewood show, analogue tapes are almost never correct speed because of battery-operated equipment (DAT recording would be different, or video), so Limulus "scientific" examination ain't that waterproof.  (And please God, no, don't anyone try to pitch-correct it for _this_ purpose!)

Not that i care.  This is the best rock concert i've ever heard from any band, and if Axl says it's the longest show, that is enough for me (to the extent it matters at all).  i wouldn't even think it impossible that he had in mind to break the goddamned record to kick some naysayer's ass (meaning: he'd know better than people studying bootleg lengths)!

And thanks so much to people who bought and released this - and those who converted it too and then uploaded it.  Very generous and kind.

By the way, i really like these ear-mixes, i like hearing Axl and the way he sings clear as possible sometimes, even at the detriment of the mix in general.

wrong?

PROVEN wrong? LOOOOOOOOOOOL!

Tokyo IS longer than Inglewood. Never doubted that. TIMES say that. AXL said that. RON said that. DJ said that. The band was consciously trying to break the old record. They knew what they were doing.

Who should i believe, some Slash lover at a message forum with a metaphisic explanation, or the band AND THE TIMES themselves?

This is gonna come off as smart ass but I've just gotta ask;

When you guys are having this argument about 1991 Vs. 2009 and which was the longest show, you're both basing your arguments on the length of the actual bootleg right?

Also just curious; how much time difference is there between the two shows?

I'm sure pissing off and annoying him about his research he has done about the recordings will make him think twice about releasing stuff again. He is merely stating his research and his opinion on the two recordings (91/09). I think it's cool he did the research and came to a different conclusion than what the band came to, it's intriguing. But I do have to ask, this is kind of the same thing with the original uploader of this show right? "Don't piss him off -- he won't share again!" -- isn't that the same? I'm sure Limulus is used to the shit, as he has gotten it over the years countless times on this board, but still. There comes a point when enough is enough.

All you people saying the 09 was the longest, and stating it as FACT are acting like little kids with your arms folded refusing to budge.

No,w not that I would ever sit down and listen to recordings all the way through and time them. (better things to do), but IF someone DID do that (Limulus) then I would listen to what they have to say and I would honestly take his word for rather than DJ Ashba's or BBfoots. Simply because....

A) I can pretty much guarantee they've never heard the inglewood bootleg. Why would they have? Unless Axl sat them down and said, "OK Ron this is how we did things back in the day..." LOL...wouldn't happen.

B) They probably weren't even aware of how long the Inglewood show was at all. (And that's IF they knew about it at all!!)

Also I would doubt if Axl himself ever timed the shows. Probably just said a throwaway statement which places like blabbermouth pick up on..."GNR play longest show EVER". Not that he needs/wants the publicity.

Also how about some respect for Limulus for doing so much for the GNR bootleg community??!!! Estabanf has been great too in recent years, but come on. Show a little love, a little respect, and realise that most people with their heads screwed on properly in this forum aare a fan of GNR no matter what fucking lineup. Capiche? :peace:

just a little from me - sometimes during the end of the Tokyo show, something like this happened: Axl said to Tommy: not Paradise City yet, we're nearly at the record (not exactly, I don't remember it at all, but you know what I mean)

1991 was 18 years ago and Axl's 47 now. I say if he's done a 3hr 30+ show and say its the longest, give the motherfucker the benefit of the doubt.

Limulus has a history of trying to show everybody how great the old band is and how things just "suck" now.

Has nothing to do with the amount of bootlegs he spends his time on releasing.

If I don't agree with him or you, I'll say so. How do you deal with that? You keep posting smart ass remarks in every other thread.

Keep it up. Let's see how long you last here...

I finally listened to the bootleg.

The sound is nice but I prefer the other one. I thought there would be more comments from Axl and Tommy though. Actually we heard almost all of them on the samples we had a few days ago. It's still nice to hear them talking about the record and all.

Someone asked for another link for the MP3 version, check the first post on this thread, there are many links. If RapidShare doesn't work, try to get the FLACs and convert them to MP3s. ;)

As for the duration of the shows, my opinion is a bit different than most people I guess. I actually don't think any show is "longer". Limulus says Inglewood is and I tend to believe him because he's checked duration and all, but I also tend to believe Axl when he says it's the longest because he's actually in the band and was on stage in 1991 and 2009 lol.
The thing is, at the end of Inglewood Axl says the show's duration was "3 hours 36 minutes and 19 seconds". I guess the tour manager or someone else in the crew had a watch and was checking the time. As for Tokyo, I guessed they checked it too and it was 3 hours and 37 minutes. Bottom line, for me it's a draw, they're "both" the longest GN'R show, because their duration is about the same. That's just my opinion. ;)

As RaspAxl said, they should have played another song after or before Paradise City. Something like Estranged or Coma? ;D I don't think it really matters though to know who is "right". Let's just listen to the bootlegs and hear some great performances.

About the Tokyo show, I now like some songs live better than on the album, like Scraped and Shackler's Revenge, but others like Catcher In The Rye, There Was A Time and This I Love are difficult to sing I think. That being said, guitars are great on those.

This doesn't relate to this download of the Destroyer, but is in reply to what you said. May be a bit off topic, but we both are going off topic here.

I moved on from the picture thing, as you can tell I didn't bother to respond because no matter the explanation I would be wrong in some way or another in your view. That's fine, I accepted it and moved on. PM'ing me bringing it back up, come on dude -- you need to move on. Like I said, you would be right in the end no matter what. So I just accepted it and tried to move past it. I still believe that if a photo is posted as a public, profile picture then it is free for everyone to see. But so be it, if I wanted to I could find it again -- but I've neither the time nor desire to do so.

I just sometimes think you are out of line, as am I sometimes -- everyone has their moments. But continually bashing Limulus because of his view is just not good for not only this thread and the forum, but for the community. It seems to me, correct me if I'm wrong, but everytime Limulus posts he can't be left alone. Yes it is his opinion the 91 show is longer, and has evidence to prove it -- you don't agree, that's fine. State your case and move on. But continually bashing him and everything just doesn't bode well. He's done a lot for us GNR fans, not only releasing LIVE RECORDINGS (bootleg doesn't sound nice...) but also various other things.

I have no personal issue with you Jarmo, I appreciate the things you've done over the years for all of us fans. Am I jealous you're at all the shows? Absolutely, but that isn't the issue here. I just think that sometimes you get set on a little tirade, target a few people and have at it. And in doing so, in my opinion, make yourself look a little childish. I don't think an Admin of a forum should be constantly bashing and bickering in the forum. Like I said, it's my opinion. But always having to have the last say, come on man. As you tell us a lot, and your buddies do -- take it to a Private Message (as you did with me).

As for me and my buddies "spamming" the forum -- it was a simple Guns 2 Roses thread, that Gavin himself was participating in. It's about Gavin's band, and if he has an issue with it -- then it is a different story. Who gives a shit that we're having a friendly discussion, in a FRIEND's thread? Doesn't harm anyone else, nor does it take away from this forum at all. Wouldn't you rather have the "shenanigans" in that thread than all over?

If you would like to discuss this further and resolve the "issues", we can do so in private whether it be Private Messages/Facebook. Whatever you prefer. I have no problem with you personally, just a few things that have gone down here recently. I know it's tough to run a site like this, especially with a huge tour going on, but doesn't mean I'll always agree with everything.

*edit* ...and if any of this has to do with my 'watermark' comment from this morning, come on. Every picture that is posted like that gets watermarked instantly. I was merely bringing it to your guys attention! I understand, this is the first place it was posted, so I know you guys want your name on it. Simple as that!  :peace:

I think he's wrong. Weird concept huh?

If I "bash" or "bicker" it's because of what I think/believe.

I have my own opinion on things, if you say something I don't agree with, I will point it out.

Some of you like to make claims such as "you bash fans". Talk about a generalization. But it happens to anybody who dares to point out that certain elements of the so called fan base has the wrong idea.

I don't "bash fans". I might point out to a little group of people that A: I don't agree with what they say and B: I think they're wrong. Some of these people see themselves as fans, while my own personal definition on what a fan is might be different. Ironically I'm also attacked for that! I'm not allowed to have a definition on what being a fan means to me. Because it upsets some so called fans!

For example: If I think one American is a moron, it doesn't mean I think the whole USA are morons. That would be stupid. But with GN'R fans, it seems to be a viable thing to say "he bashes fans".  :hihi:

If I look childish, fine. How I appear to a bunch of strangers or my "online imagine" isn't something I spend any time on thinking about.

I say what's on my mind and that's it.  :)

/jarmo

PS Yes bumping your friend's band thread with pointless posts can be seen as spamming and could be viewed as unfair to those who don't have that kind of friends. Meaning, other threads won't get bumped to the top day after day.  : ok:

its not about i "think", "believe", "wish" or "hope" what show is longest, those are thoughts from others not me. i've given a method how to calculate a length of a show and used this method on 12/19/2009 Tokyo and 8/03/1991 Inglewood show with the only intention to find out which one was the longest after all and owns the record. the process of this method is described, all the files used for it are circulating worldwide. i've posted the results out of that and those ones all lead to Tokyo'09 is inferior in playing time and inferior in GN'R songs being played with Axl singing - unlike information being given out of band members and "believers". out of my method the claim that Tokyo'09 was the longest show was wrong! if you dont trust my results of my method feel free to do it your own going to the same method i've used and you'll find about the same results +/- ~1sec.
exspecially with pure digital recording fans are able to track a show length themselves, did that with Tokyo and even that differs from the official band version (and i've given my thoughts aswell how they most likely came to that conclusion....coming down to wrong tracking or false information given out by the staff).

can you give me real arguments against this method i've used? or better.....do you have a better method for comparing??

the best (and IMO only better) working method off course would be comparing digital tracking times from true digital unedited soundboards....but fans dont have access to that. i've pointed out the analog issue with possible speed correction for Inglewood91 but right now the taper source still is 4minutes ahead and has at least 4 cuts (each about 20-30sec for switching tapes and batteries....so basically about 90sec even more missing, add to that cassettes usually used to run faster when transfering digital and the pre-recorded intro is way shorter); it might not even exist as complete unedited soundboard.

you can still "think" i'm wrong but as for now there hasnt been any proof let alone any objective argument falsifying my results! noone has come up with real arguments against the method i've used for it or a better way to do so neither!
and as for the words "but they said so" (no real argument by the way).....time has proven to be very carefully with what any band member in any line-up of this band has said, it just even proved themselves wrong with Tokyo'09 digital lenght tracking based on my method.

THe main obvious thing with the 2 shows is one in 91 contains, songs that for the most part will never really be played again , didn't really transfer well "live", where in 2009 the songs sound tremendous, Im a huge GNR fan from jump, but Im not missing Bad Obsession, The Garden, Locomotive, , You Ain't the First, , get plenty of Dust n Bones, when I saw Duff, .....its a show and still you argue this point and yet I could buy it better if the tour was over to be definitive, but we still don't know what comes down the pipe, maybe 6 more shows will blow all records, then what will you complain?

I agree for the most part. I could do without You Ain't the First, Bad Obsession, Double Talkin' Jive and Move to the City.

But then again, I could do without a few from Tokyo such as Live and Let die (also in Inglewood) and Nice Boys (even though it is a good performance).

August 3rd, 1991 - The band plays at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, CA. This show was the longest one on the whole Use Your Illusion world tour. According to Duff it was three hours, 36 minutes and 19 seconds long.

That's it. You shouldn't be wasting your time since bandmembers know a lot more about it than you do. They do not use tapes or amateur recording to do the math. ;)

Yeah during the show axl kept checking his watch.

some fans saw the notice at the entrances of tokyo Dome like this that say " please know today's show will be finishing by 9 30". http://echizenya.biz/yamabuki/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/IMG_3533.jpg
(the other notice says the show will be shoot, filmed and recorded. We consider you have agreed pics films and recordings of you taken during the gig be used without permission. :nervous: )

Tokyo dome has lots of regulations. I hear they didn't allow full use of the pyros GNR prepared either. Many (including rock writers) thought poor axl must have been told to finish in good time after Osaka, so that he had to watch the clock. And the main set did ended promptly but that wasn't the real reason he was watching time, it seems.

The title of the other boot, I don't care about time is rather funny now.

GNR played over 3hours just a show before this. No one thought Tokyo would see such a long gig, lets alone the loooongest one. 2 3+ hours Long shows in a row- 7 hours in total, the length of 3 usual shows. thats also a new record.

oh, the tokyo'09 show was just watch tracking then?  ;)

i also fucking loved that they did such a long marathon, next to the other long shows right before! it was totally unexpected, a shot in the knee right out of the blue.....and a very good shot! that and the energy and aggression from Axl, his "good mood" and long talking and the technical skills of the band performing still is stunning to me, exspecially after ~2,5 years live abstinence. speculation now, but could it be the power of Axl resulted from his "worst fucking year" maybe? a bad life period can turn into good things after all, maybe into performing in this case. the amazing sound quality (how the hell did they get those guitars that nice??) of the unofficial live recording, and a fast release, probably helped aswell.
damn, that was too much positive talking from me  :hihi: but hey, that was only subjective but pretty much honest, Jarmo!

to me, the band performance was A+, just Axl's voice seemed pretty weak to me, just like in 2001/2. I think he sang much more stronger in 2006/7 than now. it can be the recording though

anyway, some moments during Nightrain or some other songs were just killers

I dont really have the will to do a proper comparison of times. I just happened to have both shows in FLAC format in my PC, selected both folders, right clicked, and asked dbpoweramp plugin to give me the times. And that resulted in ''Destroyer'' being longer than Inglewood. almost a minute longer.

Bumblefoot and Axl seemed pretty sure and confident when they talked about the times. They gave precise times, and Axl was really worried about breaking the record at the Dome. But these things, somehow, dont seem to be valid for some people.

And there is a very important item we are not considerating in this discussion: the break between songs at the dome was incredibly short. It was the same at Osaka and Seoul. But the ''silence'' breaks between the 08/03/91 were considerably longer all over the show.

And at Tokyo (you may say this is very subjective, but hey, we know each other and we know pretty good what the mass of the real GNR fans think), there were almost no fillers at all. Plenty of fillers / forgettable songs at the californian show.

Instrumentally, the 2 lineups in question are in 2 very different leagues. This lineup makes the 1991 lineup (the worst sounding instrumental base GNR has ever had) look like newbies.

Remember these words: first canadian show, and we'll have the unquestionable record.

We already had the FLAC/ MP3 debate, the Inglewood/ Tokyo debate, let's not have the old/ new line-up debate. ;)

Both line-ups have their defaults and qualities, but this thread is about a bootleg, not about the skills of members of the band 19 years ago.

acknowledged.

regarding bootlegs, considering the lenght, the sound quality, the setlist, and the lineup, i trully think ''I Dont Care About Time'' is the best audience GNR bootleg EVER, and a top 5 among ''all categories'' (including soundboards). I and think I have some boots...

I dont really have the will to do a proper comparison of times

see, estebanf, this is absolutely not personal so please dont take it like that, but ^^that says it all!
and all the other points from you are not really valid:
- "they said so" (pointed it out before)
- break and silence (= didnt help playing more GN'R songs!)
- filler songs (subjective! who decides that? its just a matter of taste from one fan to another! are civil war and estranged filler songs to you aswell but my generation isnt? even if so...doesnt count as argument. i've only given examples!)
- instrumentally skills (what does this help in playing time? nothing.....but that was the point we've talked about, the playing time! if we'd talking about guitar notes being played in those 2 shows.....Tokyo surely is like 4 times or more ahead! again, that wasnt the point!)

looking forward to the new tour leg.
bring on 4h shows, Canada!!  ;D

fair enough.

can you give me a good explanation on why i CAN NOT trust in the times dbpoweramp says? i ask this not with the intention of ''fighting'', im just being curious. I have tracked LOTS of audio shows. the original single wav file says one duration, and after the tracking and the right-click-checking with dbpoweramp, i get the same duration.

you're worried, Limulus, admit it. you know GNR will break that record in the next canadian tour. I do not take this as personal, but trust me Axl will  ;D

Post by: Limulus on January 09, 2010, 12:24:28 AM
nah, absolutley not worried. its just some weird that in Tokyo'09 they were allready talking within the show about the record to break....but in the end they didnt. i mean....when the intention is there really wanting to do the longest show (comparing to the only long marathon they did before)...why not doing safe just playing 1-2 more songs? nobody could ever have doubted it then. but they decided, most accidently i think though, to do a close run only...turning out not being the longest one. and thats where this discussion basically started.

and for me i would LOVE if they play more marathons like that. in general i always rate longer shows = more entertaining, at least for the fans being there....i mean, you're there to have a good time, right? if they play longer than you've have a longer period of good time (given that they dont play sloppy by purpose or other shit happening taking away the pleasure). actually i "think" Canada wont have such long shows as the tour schedule is a lot more stressy for all band members, exspecially for Axl's voice for obvious reasons. i also disagree on the 1st candian show being a very long one...speculation of mine right now but its just not a good tactic to "open" with a marathon - information spreads fast and fans might expect such marathons all the time for the following shows but wont get it, turning into disappointment. also they closed not opened with a marathon in 91 and 09 aswell. i also would love to be proven wrong in that. but honestly i "hope" that south america gets the longest one ever because for mainly 2 reasons: fans over there are nuts and deserve it IMO! 2nd reason is pure egoistic: cant make it over there myself but the band past has shown us that they always have been cool and nice with tv broadcasts from SA. being a fan of live music i'd just love to see them there in front of thousands of totally crazy fans....thats something you hardly find in USA, Asia and not even in Europe here (off course sometime we come close  ;D).

as for your dbpoweramp question:
i think that has been misunderstood by you. the time being given from the program should be totally fine, thats not the issue. the issue was that the files you've used dont reflect the actual real lenght of the shows. the tokyo'09 show is shorter than what the company released on the CDRs. i do have copies of the inglewood91/maxxximum CDRs somewhere but they arent the ones to judge from as they are uknown sources/transfers from higher generation tapes and bad editing! you gotta go as close to the original source as a fan can do....and for years that has been the gen1 from JM78 (its listed there as 219:22min by the way.....that time would come out of your dbpoweramp proggie aswell....but again it doesnt reflect the real show lenght which is some shorter (too much preshow/postshow and silence parts if i remember right)! the DIME taper master transfer version released in october'09 (+ ~1min outro Axl talking not on there) is the version to judge from. i can give you the files of my "method" for checking in ANY proggie, the results given some posts above by me will stay the same.

You make this sound like hard facts, when in truth this is just YOUR opinion.  This is a GNR fan forum, and I'd presume most of us found our way here BECAUSE OF the 1991 'newbie lineup' with their 'filler/forgettable songs'.

Why does it have to be 'haters OR believers'.  Why can't one person just enjoy the original/UYI lineups, AND at the same time enjoy Axl's new band ?  Why is it apparently forbidden to say ANYTHING negative about the current lineup  ?  They have their faults, just like the original/UYI lineups had their faults.

Of course Axl's voice was extremely weak during several parts of the 4 recent shows.  Why is that so hard to admit ?  1991 was almost 20 years ago !  He's 20 years older. He's never gonna sound that good again. He's hardly had any practice either.  He had off days in the past as well.  He forgot lyrics for new (and old) songs in the past as well.  Who doesn't ?  Still, I'm happy to see him touring, I'd rather have this than nothing.  I may not always agree with everything, and I might have preferred it if they had worked out their differences, but they didn't, and they moved on, so should we !

And the whole thing about 'more technically skilled players', while true in some cases, is totally irrelevant (except for the new songs).  Would you prefer one Beatle and 3 virtuosos over 4 Beatles and their limitations ?  Those guys you keep bashing fucking wrote all those songs.  Think about it...

you're right, that was just my opinion.

But we still can make a thread asking fans all over the world if they would choose TWAT / Prostitute / Better or You're Crazy / Dust N' Bones / You Aint The First.

Why does it have to be 'haters OR believers'.

I dont think it has to be that way.

Quote

Because there isnt a new band, maybe? ''haters'' (the word u used) love to call this band ''Axl's new band'' or NewGNR, an elegant way of denying this band its own identity.

This band is Guns N' Roses. No matter how much you can whine. You would love to see Axl using another name for the band he created and he kept alive all these years, but you arent that lucky.

Quote
Why is it apparently forbidden to say ANYTHING negative about the current lineup  ?  They have their faults, just like the original/UYI lineups had their faults.

Instrumentallywise, this band is flawless. currently, It all depends on how tight Axl's voice is at one show or the other.

but hey! if you think this band deserves some negative comments, just express yourself! Nobody here is gonna be scared by your words.

Of course Axl's voice was extremely weak during several parts of the 4 recent shows.

I do not agree with this at all.

without sounding too offensive in this thread but have you ever recognized just how much harder the chinese democracy songs are to sing in comparison to the old songs? on the old songs at this shows axl sounds as good as, in parts even better than in his best time during the 80s and 90s. off course "this i love" is harder to sing than "my michelle" for example. i don't think that anybody really doubts this. and we could to this comparison with nearly every new/old song.

but i totally agree with you when it comes to enjoying the old and the new band...

Even some jp media claimed so. I tend to go with what the band says.

The band must have their tape of the show while Bootlegs can be edited by the makers I think.
or I don't get why no one had tried to correct the inglewood record for 17 years till the tokyo happened.

Quote from: HTGTH History Section
August 3rd, 1991 - The band plays at the Great Western Forum in Inglewood, CA. This show was the longest one on the whole Use Your Illusion world tour. According to Duff it was three hours, 36 minutes and 19 seconds long.

What a nonsense are you saying kid. Those "fillers" and "forgettable" songs became GNR in the best rock band at that time as well as caused that you be a GNR fan nowadays. I'm sure you're not a fan becasuse of Oh My God or Scheckler's Revenge, if so, you'd be one in a million.

Actually they were, but besides they were incredibly talented. I don't give a fuck if old Guns
used to make mistakes when they play live, it's band of Hard Rock after all, not a
classic music convention. They used to deliver everything in every gig, in a very
authentic way, that became in the most genuine and loved era of Guns n' Roses.
