Forced vaccines by Ticketmaster?
Is that as bad as it sounds?
Or does it just mean you can't attend unless you prove you have the vaccine?

Covid testing - on board
Forced vaccine - no shot

I'm not going to large events until I've been vaccinated.  Don't harass me by asking for proof I've had it or all the other folks I got tickets for.  It's a personal responsibility.  I don't think it's their responsibility.  Appreciate they care and are trying to get back in business.

Even if it's a personal responsibility, in today's world they would probably be held liable if someone got sick and died from attending a concert.

"Why did you let that person in to spread it?", "Why didn't you do more to try to stop sick people from attending events?" etc etc.

Ticketmaster just wants to get back into the concert business and make the public feel safe to spend the money, while making sure their bases are covered...

That’s a tough one.. I personally would wait.. to see how things go, before i’d go if I had to take a vaccine. It’s their business they can enforce what they want.. I just don’t see that many people willing to do that.  In the meantime if they could get bands to do a live stream ( more bigger names) and charge 30-40 dollars.  Until this pandemic is over.. that would be pretty cool.

It sounds to me very much like Ticketmaster thinking put loud, presumably as a way to encourage confidence in shareholders/ticket buyers, rather than an actual plan.

Believe it when it happens.....up to that point it's just speculation. There would have to be an EXCELLENT testing system in place to make this work. Imagine having a high prices ticket and not getting the results back a suitable time before gig? Nightmare.

Ticketmaster can do one though- they treated me like dirt when I tried to get a refund for my cancelled GNR show, so I'm not too willing to give them any of my money ever again.

I'm loving the concert streams.  Like the convenience of being at home and the good view.  Chat with my friends during the concert and preorder the concert shirt.  Lot better experience for me and it doesn't cost as much.

TM says they don't have the authority to force vaccinations and that Billboard jumped the gun.

As someone who works in local government, the Health Departments and local city/county commissioners/councils generally make the rules for the area (i.e. rules for venue operations and capacities, etc.), so I'm not really sure how TM would have any pull anyway.

They just sell tickets. They don't run the actual events. It would be like a gas station trying to make you prove you had a vaccination if you wanted to race your car down at the local track. That's not going to happen.

Looks to me like Billboard shit the bed on this story.

So, here's my thought:

If people want to attend without getting vaccinated, that's them taking a personal risk, knowing the potential outcomes.  You can't really blame TM if YOU decide to attend a large event like that without taking a readily available vaccine.  I'm sure they will post warnings and require you to check a couple boxes acknowledging that you are putting yourself at higher risk of exposure to COVID, and any potential risks that entails are wholly assumed by the attendee.

I wouldn't do it.  I won't attend a gig until I'm vaccinated.  But that's my choice.  And if I'm vaccinated (assuming it works), I no longer care, or am effected by, other people's choices.  That's not meant to be callous.  It's meant to be honest.  If someone wants to make that choice, and take that risk, that's up to them.  If I'm protected, and they make what I would consider an irresponsible choice....its honestly none of my business anymore.
