Just wondering.  How many of your friends have you turned onto GNR?  And which songs are there favorites?

There are a handful of my friends that now listen to GNR a lot more than they originally did.  Two of my friends in particular are big GNR fans now.  My first buddy loves "Yesterdays and Dead Horse".  My other buddy likes "14 years" (says this is where he became a fan of Axl's voice), and has fallen in love with "Rocket Queen", "Estranged", and the live version of "Knockin On Heavens Door".

I think it is neet when you see GNR still reaching people.  It would be interesting to see what you guys can share.

Peace and rock on!

I admit it. I have failed in passing on the GNR wisdom to my friends. Some of the are so far out in taste, it would be like convincing George Bush to stop war in Iraq.

They believe I'm a freak. When I told them I had joined a GNR message board they almost took me to a mental institution.  nervous

Yeah, my girlfriend was like that too.  However, she slowly started to get into them a little bit.  She eventually liked "November Rain", "Patience" and get this "Your Crazy".  I actually sang that song to her once in my room.  That is one of the GNR tunes that I can actually sing pretty good.  Her dad was actually a big fan of Axl as well, saying that he loved his voice.  And I had to make my Dad a compilation of GNR tunes because he said that NR and Don't Cry were "beautifull songs".  Kinda interesting that older generations even like GNR.  That's the cool thing about GNR, they sing such a wide variety of songs, that anyone of them can touch anyone.

I got so many people turned onto GNR its ridiculous. All my friends love them now, and during high school, mostly everyone didnt like them but after I graduated they all liked them. It was weird. But yeah, lots of people like GNR because of me  smoking

A few. I was sitting at a bar with a friend of mine and he'd never heard AFD before, so I sunk a bunch of money into the jukebox and played the whole album right thru. He became a fan on the spot. His favorite is "Out Ta Get Me"....strange since being in trouble with the law is the last thing he'd do.........

I got my now roomate into them, same way, with AFD....Though he swears he had it first. He hates it when I show him cool tunes, for some reason.....He doesn't like Blind Melon because he never heard of them before I played him the first CD...........

I also got an ex in GN'R a little bit, made her watch the Tokyo tapes with me one night.......She bought Illusion 1 after, but told me after we broke up she doesn't listen to it anymore because of "bad memories" whatever that means.....

Most of my friends run away screaming when they see red (or white) hotpants.
Which is why I've stopped showing them videos until they learn to appreciate the music! They'll get used to the hotpants later.  yes

Anyway so far they like WTTJ, Paradise City, SCOM, Don't Cry and November Rain.

Yes, it was.  However, Axl sings a sweet chorus.

Wow, what memories.  GNR is a tradition with my buddies and me.  Alot of beer parties in our younger days, but it seems I'm the last hold-out listening to Axl's beautiful work.  Like Rain said, when they ask for the latest news, they just laugh...although they all agree the new shit rocks and will be even better from the studio.

I've been a fan since I first heard AFD about 15 years ago!  Nothing new from GNR from my 20th year to my 30th year!!!  Damn, that's a pisser!  Boston 12-02-02 memories keep me going.  What an incredible night.

I'm tellin' ya, Where's Axl? bumper stickers would be pretty damn cool.

Later-

Yeah, like I stated earlier in this post, I have gotten one of my best buddies to become not only a big GNR fan, but a big Axl fan.

We came up with this saying about 2 months ago that kind of helps us make decisions.  Whenever we have a tough decision to make, let say for example your drinking with your buddies and you have already taken like 4 shots of Jack in a row, and then your friend offers you another.  Your thinking to yourself, "there is no way I can take another one right now".  Then your buddy says "WWAD Bitch".  Which stands for What Would Axl Do?  And then you all of a sudden down another shot.  Makes us feel like Rock Stars, but it can get you in trouble every once in a while.  Like the time him and I came back from a bar after drinkin a whole lot of beer.  I then asked him if he wanted to drink a bottle of Night Train that I brought from home?  He said "no fuckin way".  Then I said "WWAD".  An hour later, we were both puking off his balcony.

The funny thing about that saying is that now more and more people in my circle of friends are saying it, and they think it is great....lol!

I feel as though I needed to pass this on?

Peace
