A follow up report.
referring to this show.

"The sound of music would not be complete without the clash and crash of rockers. With Axl Rose on the soundtrack and skulls and roses as prints, the Japanese company called Number (N)ine showed a lot of attitude. The show included the "F" word printed on suspenders and pants abandoned in favor of swim shorts worn with blazers. Like some rock music, there was a lot of noise about nothing very much.

This is an extract from an article on Paris Men Shows on 3rd July International Herald Tribune:
Jazz Age to Jagger: Alive with the sound of music. See the link for the Full article
http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/07/03/reports/Rnext.php
If the link doesn't work, (as it doesn't for me), try this one. The article is kinda interesting for music fans.

A slam IMO. Something equivalent to "much ado about nothing".

I just don't get this..!

Imagine if a fashion designer just reproduce every recognized look Madonna has ever worn in a video / stage performance - to the extent of detail that this guys did with Axl... and called it HIS new spring line... I'd imagine credit &/or compensation would be due Madonna.

or what if a designer did a line consisting entirely of replica's of everything Michael Jackson has ever worrn in his videos and onstage... down to the sparkly sock and glove and highwaters and the red jacket with the zippers and his billie jean tux and EVERYTHING...

this line is not 'inspired' by Axl Rose - its a direct copy of his video and stage attire - everything he's worn - right down to specific particularly identifying details

I can't imagine this not being an infringement of an artist's copyright?

A movie star is one thing - musicians / bands - i believe their image is soemthing that is part of their PERFORMANCE - their image that they've spent their careers establishing... their ART... their intellectual property. I'm gonna look into this. Hey, I enjoy this type of 'research'!

The best part is these so called models, that they couldnt even pull off Axl's look.  I mean you take all of Axl's old pictures and sit them aside these pictures of these models and Axl is gonna stand out.  And hes gonna stand out cause hes the one that looks like the true bad ass.  These models just look gay!!!

I thought it was just me being here way too long. hihi

A slam IMO. Something equivalent to "much ado about nothing".

Ta, Pandora.  Cheesy so it seems.
Just I thought things might not be always what they seem. Like the negative word 'Decadent' sounds cool for some.

Likewise, now I sorta respect the designer's ridiculous and career-risking devotion to Axl.
After a bit of search, I find the lines for previous seasons from this label decent (not a copycat of musicians) and to be honest, in better taste than this one (to my eyes, sorry Axl). The designer must have known it himself but dare devoted 2 seasons to Axl. That is, as it were, a tribute to Axl's great fucking crazy bad taste of clothing, declaring that the way Axl did it leaves nothing to be desired to the eyes of a fashion expert. Axl didn't design the bandana, Lycra shorts or anything. We can get similar gears at any local store cheap. in fact I can find some in my closet. He coordinated ordinary gears in his very own wicked way.
The fashion is, however cool it may appear, superficial and can't touch the real thing with a lot to it. So he didn't touch it. That's it, I reckon.

I don't think Axl would mind. GN'R wouldn't be hurt by this collection if not benefit .
Moreover, I'll be shot if this fanatic missed such a golden opportunity to contact Axl.

It's good that uncle Axl doesn't dress like this anymore.
An Original is always ahead of others. Bahaha, lets cross our fingers for the spring and summer 2006 Shows.  peace

FOREVER AXL

« Reply #47 on: October 17, 2005, 06:15:10 PM »

Alright everyone, get this. I was thumbing through the pages of a People magazine a friend of mine gave me tonight, the "October 24th Issue" and on page 14 on the "Star Tracks" page there is a page called "Spring Fashion Week Paris" there is a picture of a guy impersonating Axl basically but is blonde, and doesn't look a damn bit like Axl at all. It says "Oct. 4 Lucy Liu poses with Dior designer John Galliano (yep, that's him channeling Axl Rose) after his runway show.

IMO: This guy is just trying to dress up like Axl basically, I don't like him doing it, he looks stupid, definatly no resemblence other than the style of clothing

Thought I'd share this with ya's!

I always though the early Axl looked a bit like Bret Michaels.

EDIT: added one more hard core pic.

now I've seen everything!   rofl

well almost.  It would have been funnier if they had female models dress up in Axl style, then we would get the 'what if Axl was a woman' threads again for more hilarity.

you have wondering the same thing now.  But I think unless Axl specifically copyright protected his early 90's fashion style, we can just say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

with the new axl rose clothesline and the new gnr t-shirts they sell at k-mart, maybe they will sell GNR/Axl dolls next to the backstreet boys and brtittany spears dolls...hehe...then axl can be fully commercialized before he releases his artistic expression of chinese democracy hehe...then he will have giant "fad" comeback....hehe...
