Yes. Get In The Ring isn't live. They just recorded the crowd at a show in the summer of 1991.

They made a fool out of me. I thought that was a GNR concert. So they really dig adding screams to a studio recording? hehehe.

I don't know how they recorded it. Maybe the songs were recorded "live" in the studio? But the audience was added later.

I remember when I heard those tracks for the first time, I thought, "Wow, that sounds like a big audience".  hihi

In a studio I guess.

It's not taken from a real concert.

I think I heard somewhere that the crowd noise is taken from an AC/DC concert.
it's recorded live in a studio though isn't it?

That's what I remember reading as well. That the crowd's from an AC/DC concert.

There are "demo" versions of the LLAS recordings knocking about. "Demo" as in the songs before the crowd was dubbed in. First time I heard them I thought they sounded VERY familiar and by the end of the first one I heard I realised that musically it was identical to the LLAS versions.

EDIT: Now that I come to think of it I think I first got them from gnrmp3warehouse.com, an awesome site with a load of GnR demos/live recordings. Now gone (thats why I think I'm not breaking the URL rule) but was awesome when it was open. Can't remember exactly why it closed down but it may have had something to do with the host they were with.

W. Axl Rose - Pure talent

« Reply #16 on: November 11, 2005, 04:45:12 PM »

Could be useful info, I guess.

Axl: It ain't a live record-if you think it is you're crazy. What we did was go into a room, record ourselves and put 50,000 screaming people on top.

I still love those recordings even if they were stage live they were atleast studio live (90%).
SLAYER did something similar with there 1984 "live" album called LIVE UNDEAD and I think that absolutley blows away the "true" stage live albums they do. They had like 50 or 100 associates come in and party while jammin'. Studio "Live" is still "Live". What i mean to say is big deal if the crowd noise is overdubbed or if its family and friends cheering. What matters in creating a "Live" album is the lack of overdubbing and patch work by the musicians and engineers themselves.? If 5 guys go into an empty room and play all at the same time...1,2,3,4 lets go style...thats live. Maybe not "concert live" but LIVE none-the-less! beer
