IRISH BY BIRTH, CORK BY THE GRACE OF GOD

« on: November 07, 2005, 06:02:47 PM »

Just listening to the live album there, and the version of sweet child is awful  no. Whether it was the sound quality or what i dont know but its brutal. I know some of the songs on it were redone to make them sound better, obviously SCOM wasnt one of them.

Anybody else got ones they dont like ?

It's a shame about the live album, the band was so much more talented that the re-recorded, patced up, heavily tinkered Live Era CD would have you believe.

I couldn't even pick one song, the album is ok but it doesn't represent what GNR was capable of.

Another thing that donr really like is the reggae part i KOHD, what was that about didnt like it to be honest. The part where axl and the crowd take turns singing is good.

I agree that SCOM doesn't sound very good.  Axl actually sounds quite bad on that rack.  And I hate that extended version of the song they started doing.  Where Axl keeps yelling "CHILD!", and the rest of the band is just making noise.  Why did they start doing that?

I'll never understand why they started doing that either. Extremely pathetic.  Talk about ruining a great song. confused I hated Live Era. The only reason it was released was for money. The only highlight of Live Era is Dust N Bones.  To a new fan buying this album, DnB is the only song that really represents the raw energy that GNR had.

Yeah, I do give Live Era a listen every now and then, but it is kinda a  second rate live album.  It doesn't even say when, where, or who is playing the songs.  The whole thing was just thrown together to make money.

i have to agree with you there even when it came on the Tokyo DVD id lose interest but on the whole i love the Live Era Cd and ok yes it was a bit of a money maker but it didnt sell and it wouldnt sell being a live CD i believe it was released for the Fans no it shouldnt of been remastered and yes some better versions of songs could have been picked but on the whole the CD was far fom a disaster some of you are putting it down as.

I think they would have been better off releasing the soundboard recording from the '88 Live At The Ritz. As a whole the master for that recording would tear apart most of the tone represented on the Live Era stuff.  I'm not gonna totally dis all over Live Era but opinions will be opnions. Ritz 88 would blow it away.

I'd have to say Sweet Child O' Mine is my least favorite right ahead of Rocket Queen. The flow and sound of both of these songs on the live album just seem so wrong and off.

On Live EraI like "Sweet child o' mine" and "estranged" but I think "you're crazy" is kind of lame. The singing on Paradise City is kind of lame too.
