Whats worse...playing Beautiful at concerts to kill time or writing a song about Paris Hilton an putting it on your debut album?

Dude, there were 6 pages without a Vr vs GNR debate and you have to drag them into this without any reason. You really think that everyone hating on GnR for covering Beautiful is loving VR? You're just seeking a stage to show you're anti-VR attitude. Knock it off, no reason for doing that in THIS topic.

Im not trying to drag this into another VR/Gnr debate. ALl Im saying is that there are a zillion whiners on this board who look at every single thing this band does and analyzes it.

Can you imagine if GNr asked some1 like Pharrel to come in and help produce a song or 2 for the album? There would be thread upon thread of how Axl is a wigga wanna be whos selling out cause he cant write his own chart topping song....

As for what they play at concerts...same thing..old gnr use to play whatevr they wanted. Its the spirit of GNr. do whatever u want. That has not died with this band. And concert by concert day by day they are proving that to me. You may not liek them doing something like that but tough luck. They dont care about what you think...and thats rock n roll...

the only gripe any1 should have with this band so far are 2 things....the album and the same setlists. Thats it. the late starts, solos, and anything and everything else some people complain about here is bullshit....

if the album is not out this fall and the setlists dont change when the album is out to where they are playing mostly CD with some hits then I, myself will be pissed and give up. But for now Im enjoying this band correct some 02 mistakes and putting on some great shows

will every show be perfect hell no. Its impossible for every show to be perfect. Its just not gonna happen. But the bitching and crying around here over the past few months is pathetic....

Why does everyone slate Velvet revolver? If it wasnt for 3/5ths of that band half of you haters would still be on the Korn board whining about something else.

All this 'Oh Bumblefoot rules more than Slash' crap - have you heard yourselves?!!! The guy has only been in the band for 4 weeks and already you say hes far better than the greatest rock icon of a generation - Mr Slash.

Wise up.

Anyhoo, back to the 'Beautiful' solo. Are you rushing out now to buy Aguilera's cds? Thought not - cant be that fucking great can it.

Okay.. Everyone who feels like they need to start a GN'R/VR comparison in this thread. Don't.

Anyhoo, back to the 'Beautiful' solo. Are you rushing out now to buy Aguilera's cds? Thought not - cant be that fucking great can it.

No, but I never buy albums because of just one song. I really wasn't all that impressed with the other material. It's not that she can't sing, but I just don't like the music. But it's a good song. And covering it with 2 guitars sounds great.

And I'm really glad that the solos that everyone's been doing are varied. It's great. And for them to go out and do all these different styles of music in these brief moments. It's not away from anyone. There are amazing melodies in all categories of music. The way they're presented isn't always to my taste in the original compositions, but can be turned into something great with a guitar or two. These things of course are just a matter of taste. But whether I like it or not, I'm not going to go tell anyone how they should play _their_ solos. It's none of my business. I wasn't a huge fan of Bucketheads solos, and I didn't feel that some of the songs fit the show well. But it was his time there, and that's what he wanted to do with it.

Some of you may not like the song, but to not like it just because the origal performer is Christina Aguilera, is not one of the best arguments I've heard.

Who cares who made it if it's a good song? It has a catchy melody, thoughtful lyrics, and people can relate to it.

Check this: Linda Perry, who wrote Beautiful performing with VR. They do the song Whole Lotta Love by Zeppelin.

i like christina aguilera too she has a great voice, but c?mon this is guns n roses and how the fuck anyone dare to compare slash and izzy or gilby (remember the jams in the ilusion tour?) to this wannabe rockstars that jams a christina aguilera song?

please give me a break

Totally agree with you... GNR is a hard rock band... covering a pop song like Cristina Aguilera instead of doing some Rolling Stones, Zeppelin or something like that, just don't fit Guns.
Don't be close-minded/biased.

Some people just don't know what they are talking about.
hihi Zep made songs inspired by James Brown and reggae as well as by arabic? music, celtic folk etc.

I would never compare James Brown or serious reggae artists with Cristina Aguilera... maybe Britney Spears...? hihi

Some of us dont know what are we talking about and some other would always justify everything the new band do no matter what... tomorrow they could cover a reggaeton song and it will be great to you.

If it wasn't by Aguilera, everyone would love it. They just don't want to admit it now because some whore is singing it..

Everyone?  I hate that song, and this is a guy who isn't ashamed to admit he kind of likes Oops I Did It Again!!!  yes  It's pretty catchy.

Never liked Beautiful.  Don't like it as a GN'R solo.  The old solos were much better.  And it's not just because Slash did them.  They were just better.  It might have something to do with the fact that they were all classic and timeless songs, unlike Beautiful which will never be either of those.

Hey I was in Lisbon with my family, my 14yr old daughter kept telling me that they were playing that, and I kept saying "no".  So now the truth be known!!!
