How do i convert media files to mp3?

Iv got these songs on my pc that i want to put onto cd, but i cant coz theyre not mp3s, is there anyway to convert them to mp3?

what media files? if another audio format, dBpowerAMP Music Converter is universal, it can transfer any audio format into any audio format (with apropriate codecs, can be found at their website). if you need to extract sound from video files, for example Virtualdub or XMpeg can do the job but it's not that easy
