He spends plenty of money on charity but he's only one person. It's not liike he blows all his money on hookers and coke. He's trying to make a difference, but it takes time to accomplish projects of that magnitude.

Maybe you should worry about your own wallet and morals before judging someone elses.

Maybe, I am not rich, I just think having almost unlimited money would be more than enough for someone.

This goes back to my initial point.......why the hell is it his problem though? He earned his money because he's a fucking business guru. He donates a hell of a lot more than anyone in the world and he doesn't even have to. At one point he was worth $56 billion dollars. He could give all that away to charity and it still wouldn't amount to jack shit. For the millions of people that would feed, millions more would be expecting a chunk of it. Point is this.....every person in this world is responsible for themselves. In 1750 my great great great great great great grandpappy Jebediah Bill213 was out there hunting and killing his own food, building his own log cabin and making his own clothes out of bear skin. As technology grew, people became dependant. Now they expect everything to be handed to them without having to take responsibility for anything.

Do you beleive Bill is legit?

I agree with bill213 on personal responsibility.

Also, found this article on Bill Gates.

Donating large amounts of money (about 52% of his total fortune) to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, founded in 2000. Time magazine has ranked Bill Gates among the world's most influential people more times than any other man, and as one of only four people in history to have shaped both the 20th century and the early 21st. Time also collectively named Gates, his wife Melinda and U2's lead singer Bono as the 2005 Persons of the Year for their humanitarian efforts

What are your ideas for saving the world, other than pinning them all on Bill Gates? Post away.

Find out what his net worth is on your own vs what he donates. Then you will be able to figure out a ballpark percentage of what he gives (which is more than enough) in relation to what he makes.

Then, before you point more fingers, ask yourself if you are giving that same percentage of your net worth to charity. If not, then how come?

How much have you given to charity this year?

********

Warren Buffet just gave how many billion to charity?

I guess the world is saved then, no need for any more posts then?

You are trying to avoid the facts that were pointed out to you by changing the subject. Just admit you were wrong and move on.

How much did you give to charity this year? Time or money. Please let us know, thanks.

It was just a idea I used to believe might help the poverty bit.

Seems like you're trying to pass the buck rather than making a difference yourself. You don't have to be rich to help people in need. Mother Teresa was a prime example of that. She took an oath of poverty and still managed to save lives.  And as the world stands, it will always be in dire need of saving no matter how many Bill Gates pass through.

To truly answer your question though AtarliLegend because I hope you didn't think my post was smartass-ish or anything, but in all retrospect.......my view on saving the world is this:? Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated, respect the person who is on the street begging for a quarter just as much as you respect the person living in a mansion on the hill.? Treat the guy who just shot himself up with heroin the same as you'd treat the preacher that tells you to walk the line.? Treat the bag boy at Wal-Mart the same as you'd treat Dr. Finklestein, the neuro-surgeon.  If you see an old lady crossing the street...help her....if you see someone stuck in the snow, push them out.....if you see someone in a jam, help them out, whether you know them or not.  Pay it forward!!!!!? I am pretty well known for being able to get along with anyone I meet.? I treat everyone regardless of who they are...whatever god they worship, whatever color their skin is, etc.? Once everyone can look past the bullshit and realize you're nothing more than blood, skin and bones.....then everyone can get along.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Why can't you do both? Make money and make a difference.

Everybody is not able to take care of themselves in this world. We have ALL needed help at some point in our lives. How selfish and narrow a world view to think "every man for themselves."

You can always be kind, be giving, be generous, be sympathetic, and don't judge those less fortunate than yourselves.

I guess forcing Bill Gates to give serious money to charity is a silly idea then.

He already does.

What % of his money, the guy could probably buy the Eastern World with his wallet.

I did a quick search for you.

Here's what he spends his charity money on:

$1 billion over 20 years to establish the Gates Millennium Scholarship Program, which will support promising minority students through college and some kinds of graduate school.
$750 million over five years to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, which includes the World Health Organization, the Rockefeller Foundation, Unicef, pharmaceutical companies and the World Bank.
$350 million over three years to teachers, administrators, school districts and schools to improve America?s K-12 education, starting in Washington State.
$200 million to the Gates Library Program, which is wiring public libraries in America?s poorest communities in an effort to close the ?digital divide.?
$100 million to the Gates Children?s Vaccine Program, which will accelerate delivery of lifesaving vaccines to children in the poorest countries of the world.
$50 million to the Maternal Mortality Reduction Program, run by the Columbia University School of Public Health.
$50 million to the Malaria Vaccine Initiative, to conduct research on promising candidates for a malaria vaccine.
$50 million to an international group called the Alliance for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer.
$50 million to a fund for global polio eradication, led by the World Health Organization, Unicef, Rotary International and the U.N. Foundation.
$40 million to the International Vaccine Institute, a research program based in Seoul, South Korea.
$28 million to Unicef for the elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus.
$25 million to the Sequella Global Tuberculosis Foundation.
$25 million to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative, which is creating coalitions of research scientists, pharmaceutical companies and governments in developing countries to look for a safe, effective, widely accessible vaccine against AIDS.

Think of it as a moral issue, how much money does he have?

what is his is his! Its not your buisness to force him to spend or give away his money the way he wants too! he gives more then he ever had to.

In June 2006, Warren Buffet made the commitment to give away his fortune to charity, with 85% of it going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

And Gates is going to give away pretty much all of his fortune, his children will herit "only" about 10 million dollars.

The release of Chinese Democracy will give the world total happiness, thus resulting in World Peace.

It's pathetic when this is probably more realistic, than the rest of the nonsence on this thread.

Believe are not this is not an anti-american thread, and is nothing to do with capitalism. Why can't anyone comment on anything other than my Bill Gates comments.

I've just changed the thread to a full-on, World Saving threads, to get answers/suggestions other than contraception, or Bill Gates.

Say what you want, but please consider ways other than comdoms.
