Personally I think it's a big mistake. The director is the guy who made Underworld. The last film was great because it returned the original director to the series and he managed to make it really different from the first two. (The script was actually Lethal Weapon 4 originally and they changed the names around, etc. and turned it into Die Hard 3.)

This new film doesn't sound so great. The title's lame AND Justin Long (the annoying Mac guy from the TV commercials) is playing Bruce's son.

I hate him with a passion.

He's going to ruin the film.

Someone on IMDb got a hold of the script and said it was terrible...Bruce's main villain in the film is Maggie Q, a steroid-popping female villain whom he fights at the end for like ten minutes and she beats the shit out of him. This guy who has the script said there are TONS of references to videogames, e.g. Justin Long shoots someone and Bruce says "I gotta get an XBox." He said it's basically cheap jokes like this all the way through.

Then there's a big explosion in a wheat field, Bruce and his son jump off an exploding tractor or something and both yell "YIPPEEE KAY YAYYYY MOTHERFUCKAAA!" at the same time.  Cry

This guy definitely has the script. He has the same version that AICN reviewed (and they said it sucked, too). He has scripts for other movies, his friend gets them for him. I was skeptical at first but he proved he had it and the detail he gave stacked up with stuff that came out later on about the film, such as the female villain.

'Someone from IMDB,' clearly, isn't the best way to quote a source.

It is true, though. Ish.

Here's the script review that went up on aintitcool a few months back:

(SPOILERS)

1. Unfortunately, no X-Mas in this draft. There's no reason it couldn't take place then, though.
2. Willis doesn't even get to kill the lead bad guy, the kid does. Willis' final fight is with a FEMALE henchman. It's a complete ripoff of his henchmen battles in Die Hard 1 & 3 (meaning Bruce gets his ass kicked for the entire sequence, then finally gets the upper hand) but probably a little bloodier.
3. I have no problem with John having a sidekick. That being said, he feels like secondary character at many points in this draft. The kid/villain and Homeland security agents take up pages and pages of valuable screentime. There's also a golden opportunity to bring Samuel L. Jackson's character into the script in the third act - yet they don't do it. I'm shocked they didn't think of it.
4. That's the only thing he has in spades in the script.
5. No Germans, unfortunately. The villains in the this script as a bland as those in DH2 (and for the most part, 3).

1. Ok, there are a few on-foot type chases - I'm not going to waste anyones time detailing them. They could be cool, they could be nothing.
2. The first major action sequence involves a McClaine fighting a baddie in a speeding truck. Basically - they're hauling ass while kicking, punching and trying to shoot each other. Eventually, one of them gets control of the wheel while the other is controlling the pedals. The kicker: this takes place INSIDE a football stadium. They're smashing through vending stands, offices and finally people. The way the sequence ends is AWESOME (although completely ridiculous). NOTE: Almost all the action in this script is of the Die Hard 3 variety - meaning it's highly cartoonish.
3. The second major action sequence (probably the biggest in the script) involves a speeding Amtrak train taking on an military attack chopper. Homeland security thinks the train has been hijacked and is prepared to do whatever it takes to stop it. I'm not going to spoil the sequence - but it seems WAY to similar to other movies (in particular, sequences in Die Hard 3 and XXX2). It's "ok".
4. The ending: more helicopters going at it, a car chase, a few hand-fights and a big explosion. It's not that I don't want to spoil it - I'm just not going to bother. I was actually bored reading it, which should give you an idea of how weak it is. Put it to you this way: the last scene takes place in a corn field.

I spoke directly to jim-1000 and he gave me more details on the script. Apparently it's been revised since he read it and now Justin Long isn't playing Bruce's son, but I doubt they changed much else.

I'm a big fan of the movies but I'm not going to lie, I think the title is lame too.

How about Die Hard For Good, Die The Hardest, or Die Hard Forever? I wouldn't mind one of those.
