Usually I get just the one nest that loads come out of. ?When that happens I put loads and loads of powder around that one area and they usually die off pretty quickly. ?As they seem to have taken over your whole house I suggest you surrender to them completely. ?They might take pity on you.

boric acid works.  it's usually mixed with sugar to attract the ants and then they take it back to the nest.  you can buy ant bait... it's a clear syrupy liquid.  You put it out and they will come in swarms, but they'll take it back to the queen and it will eventually kill them.  you have to find out where they're coming in from, and also what they're looking for.  ants will come inside when it's cold, so they may be looking for warmth.  even if you have crumbs (maybe your toaster?) they will find them.
good luck.

That's slugs.  I'm pretty sure ants love salt. Undecided

Unbelievable.? The stupid things were in my coffeemaker this morning.? Now they have stopped my from having my morning coffee.? And last night, my dog decided to taste the ant poison.? This is beyond ridiculous!

Get yourself a magnifying glass and burn a couple of them.  Watching them fry will make you feel better.

Borax (or something like that, mule team borax?) it is in the laundry section of the grocery store.
Put some in a shallow bowl and mix in some icing sugar powder (just a little) then put this mix in areas where you see them, ?preferably where they can crawl in it. Borax is poisonous to the ants (when they groom themselves, yes they do groom themselves, they die). Borax is safe for humans and pets (although try to keep them away). Another thing you can try is Cyan pepper (pronounced with a K sound) also found at the grocery store, where the ants are coming in from pour the pepper in a little line, supposedly ants won?t cross that line. ?If you can find the ant hills, you can pour boiling water down the hole or squirt the liquid ant bait down.

It sucks to have ants

All this talk of poison desguised as sugar for the ants to carry back to the nest seems way too complicated to me.  I know the dog makes it harder to leave real acid poison lying around but if you plaster it all over the nest (when you find it) that always does the trick for me.  If that doesn't work, burn the house down and live off the insurance for a while.
