LORD OF THE BARNYARD

After watching numbers 20 through 2, I knew it had to be WTTJ. FINALLY, a list of list with truth. But we already knew this, right?  ok

As there should always be homage to groups like Sab, Zep, Maiden, Priest, etc, there comes a time when there has to be updating in what constitutes a 'best' or 'greatest'. Yes, "Paranoid" and "Whole Lotta Love" WERE amazing. REPEAT "WERE". Thankfully, there's now acknowledgement of something that came after the 60s and 70s.

Now, if only the other mainstream lists would get a clue. Isn't it time for the Beatles, et al, to start going down on every list? Let someone else get a chance?

Totally awesome. WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE is my all time favorite song! I love it especially at a GNR concert. It's after Midnight, you hear the first strains of muic and then Uncle Axl screams "DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE F*** YOU ARE? YOU'RE IN THE JUNGLE BABY!'

I watched the whole series all week and before it even started I said to my friend "Back in Black and WTTJ should be the top 2."

Just giving some credit to the guys who wrote it. Nothing wrong with that! ok

Oh please. Just another one of your "tricks".

Did you post the same kind of messages in those threads where Chinese Democracy or songs from it were praised by "outsiders"?

I always have said I can love both bands and all that.

I give props to the old when due and I give props to the current when due.

What is wrong with that?

if CD has a number 1 all time song, I'll be the first to congratulate the authors of said song.

VH1 finally got it somewhat right. After only putting Guns N' Roses 9th on their Greatest Artists of Hard Rock list, they definately had to redeem themselves. I thought it was a little odd last time around, but hey maybe Im just biased.  Grin Good to see the boys at the top.

Obviously everyone here is happy that "Welcome to the Jungle" won the top spot, and deservedly so.  I also thought that VH1 did a pretty good job with the rest of the list, too, and that gives the fact that GNR placed first a little more meaning in my book.  Maybe you can argue about the particular songs chosen, but they got most of the bands right, and I thought this was the best one of these list programs I've seen.

Yeah it was a pretty good list.  My only complaint is how can a song like "Sweet Child O' Mine" not be on there?  Not to mention Paradise City.  You could argue that it doesn't fall under the "hard rock song" category, but try to tell me how "Kiss Me Deadly" by Lita Ford or "Interstate Love Song" by STP is a) a better song than SCOM or b) more "hard rock"?

Even aside from SCOM, there were many ballad type or slower rock songs that could've been on the list.  "Stairway To Heaven"?

I agree with you, Faldor, it just seems like they tried to stay away from multiple songs by the same artist for the most part.  I didn't see anything but the top 20, so I might be wrong, but that was my take anyway.

Yeah that's true, there were some bands that had 2 songs on the list, but not many (ACDC, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, The Who).  None that I remember had 3 songs.  So in a sense I guess they were trying to stay away from having multiple songs from bands.

If there was a formal award reception for VH11 Greatest Rock Songs, the guys D mentions would be the natural recipients. Would you bitch on VH1 as well if that happened?

VH1 isn't a person claiming to be a fan while constantly having trouble giving the (current) band credit.

Actually the guys who recorded it. Axl and Slash wrote it.
AND, I think when you list the original band members to congratulate them you should always list Axl first and Steven last, not the other way around!  hihi

It'd be fun to see who would show up to recieve the award.
