I know it's been said many times, in many different ways, but need to reiterate.  I love this band, I like it more than the original.  I have been a fan since 1987 and will continue to go see them any time they are near.  That being said, I have seen this same show over and over.  CD was great, I still listen to it often, but new music is needed.  If you have this good of a band together, use the resources.  I would rather have them be in the studio than touring.

The show was awesome. The band are really tight and a noticable difference as expected from when I saw them here in 06.
It was basically the same show though as 06 give and take a few songs.
The crowd in my opinion was ok I wouldn't say flat and prob as to be expected for a tuesday night. I took notice of the capacity and I would say seating was at 80% and the floor was 60% pretty much back to the sound boards.

I took a mate who 'likes some guns n roses songs' and he was really impressed and to quote him "that was one of the best rock n roll shows I have ever seen". Pretty much sums the night up for me too.

ZZ Top sounded great too

Can someone who went to the show, or indeed the Perth show say what intro they have been using in Australia?... thanks.  Wink

I think it was Massive Attack's "Splitting the atom" last night.

That's cool, that intro worked really well in Europe and actually turned me on to the song... glad to see it wasn't a "european only" thing... thanks jarmo.  Smiley

I'd agree that the floor was at 60% but seating was closer to 50%. The upper levels were curtained over to give the appearance of a full arena and there is a large section of seating up there.

I was a little annoyed that I paid $169 for a Gold Reserve seat and some people I know paid $99 for a cheap ticket up the back, ended up getting a free upgrade closer than my seat due to the fact that it sold poorly.

It is a difficult time to sell tickets in Australia though with so many bands and artists coming out, especially for a band that have toured the same album here in Sydney 3 times and one of those I recall started very late. Just this year alone there are so many shows on offer and I guess music lovers can only afford so much. Metallica, Kiss, Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and possibly ACDC just to name a few.

Still got a massive woody over Axl's vocals last night tho, so impressive. Jungle and Better were particulary impressive.

I've been to shows in Sydney and my hometown of Brisbane.
Disappointing to hear the Sydney crowd was lacklustre cause every time I've been there they've been great.
Brisbane fans we need to show them how it's done next week...see you in the front!

Had an amazing day off in Sydney, got to see some of the sights in the sunshine and then the day after GN'R rocked the Allphones Arena in the Olympic Park.

Managed to catch some of ZZ Top's set before GN'R. Don't miss the opening acts if you're a rock fan!

Beta was wished a happy birthday complete with a cake brought up on stage.

Here's some pics:

Next up, Newcastle!
