Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: July 24, 2004, 04:26:59 PM »

I was watching the video of "nightrain" from Madison Square Garden and Chicago 2002, and I have noticed a really great chemistry between Fortus and Finck.
I think they should do an accoustic duet on stage like Slash/Gilby back in the days with "wild horse" or a thing like that. It would help the band to be more confident on stage and to show this is a real band. I think they play very well together. I really feel a chemistry between these 2 guitarists.

Yeah, I think they really connect, especially on the intro to 'Out ta Get Me', for me. There was one concert when they were playing PC and Finck put Fortus in a headlock while he was playing, it was cool. Whoever says this band doesn't have chemistry needs to get away from Sott Weiland's dealer...

man, the MSG show is absolutely amazing  Cheesy. One of the best GN'R show ever for me, including the old band. This show is magical.
Now, to tell you the truth, the entire band is GREAT exept Buckethead. ok he played awesome guitar solos, ok he was very technical, but on stage when I see my video I see a weird guy totally appart, totally isolated, totally out of the band like "what the hell is he doing in that band?". I think Buckethead pretty ruined the reputation of the new band in the past. It's not a musical problem because he is very good, but a human one. It just doesn't make it.
Now that he is gone, I hope we will see a more confident band on stage, just a real band with guys who have fun and who enjoy playing. Bucketead may be fantastic for a studio work, definitely, but on stage please no, never, never ever for a Rock band like Guns n' Roses. Fortus + Finck can make it! They are enought talented to show to the entire world that they are one of the greatest guitar duet in the world. Buckethead is definitely not essential. Believe me, this is a good thing that he is not in the band anymore.
good night.

I understand what you saying but I think your missing the whole buckethead thing. Hes a robot. Hes in his own world. Not because hes a dick or whatver but because thats him....

ANd I own a lot of new gnr bootlegs. He jams all the time with the band. Go watch Rio. Go watch ALbany. Hes always running up and down the stage. Especially during songs like otgm, nightrain,pc,cd, mm......
Thats just buckethead.

not really....and dont be surprised if you see him raom the stage again in GNR

I totally agree with younggunner.

I think Buckethead is a very talented musician and I really like the way ho moves on the stage too. I think that he will play some really cool shits on the studio and I wonder who will be able to play his parts live if not him.

Not to put down your opinion, but seriously every musician I knew was mainly interested with the new GNR because of what Buckethead and Brain brought to the table.  Bucket, regardless of his antics, which by the way didn't ruin crap because hell I remember most concert had hordes of people that started a little cult following of him. Shit I remember seeing so many people with little chicken buckets on their heads and going nuts when he did his solo.  But not only did he bring that excitement to the fray......he brought an incredible talent that most musicians were very excited to see mixed with Axl's songwriting ways and I know when he left alot of them were dissapointed because they didn't think the material he did would ever see the light of day.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
