The Datsuns are a classic RnR band from New Zealand. They supported VR for some of their tour and have so far two albums out, their self-titled debut and "Out of Sight, Out of Mind".

For any of those who have not heard them I highly recommend them.

For those who have, your thoughts?

Although I think their singer/bassist is great, even if he wasn't it's highly unlikely they'd get rid of him, they're all brothers so I doubt they'd dump their own brother!

They're not like The Strokes, Jet etc are they, because I quite enjoyed their performance at VR but I haven't bought their albums cos I presumed they were another wannabe-70s band.

Why are you reading this?

Saw them opening for VR in Hammersmith last January. Good fun, but I thought their attempts to 'rock out' seemed a bit false.

I saw them open for VR in Birmingham(11/5/2004). I just couldn't find a vibe with them. They didn't play that long of a set anyways.

Although they have a distinct 70s style, they're definitely not wannabes. They even have high approval of John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, arguably THE 70s band, he produced and played a small bit of keyboard on their second album.
