If the first album doesn't go over well......... we will never hear the others.

Pre-recording them all is retarded anyway because as a band you grow so much musically as you get out on the road and play together and get closer as a band. All the studio time in the world can't simulate that experience. By pre-recording everything in that you cheat the creative process that would have naturally come along as the band played more together and went through the early growth stage. By never recording again because you supposedly had everything done already, you never allow that growth as a musical entity to be put on an album.

And if you decide that you have come up with some new ideas and decide to record them, then this whole process and all the time involved has been a big waste of time as the whole goal of supposedly recording all these albums at once is so that they don't have to go into a studio again.

Either way, there is a reason this has never been done like this before. Because the formula doesn't work well. And that is not even a reference to starting up a new band with new members.

Totally agree. If CD flops like a dick in the dirt, I think Axl will go back to his cave and this time leave the stone in front of it..

I dont think its so much a contention of "cheating the musical process" by pre-recording 3 albums at once, its more an issue of intelligence..The landscape of music and its genres & trends are continuously changing. What is the honest to god point of pre-recording albums years ahead of their tentative release if the material and music genre is outdated or extinct?? What was the big thing in 99? Rap/Metal and Industrial..lets say Axl recording CD's follups that far back or began them..is that material even relevant now? no, its seriously outdated and worn..What if while during the recording process the band were to write some emotional power ballad, and all the other material is rap/metal..obviously the track will stick out like a sore thumb..but lets say its a masterpiece..what happens? album formula and material must be revisited and reworked causing delays after delays...hmm sounds familiar hihi

Consider Chinese Democracy to be Axl's swan song.

either way, we'll never know if it's the last album or not

I think the post is premature. Even if the other 2 albums are done--which I doubt--the main thing is to get the first  one  out. Geez, it's been long enough, perfecting it and final  touches and so on and on....There is no way a second album  will be released within a 3  to 4 year time span. No  way.

I agree , the three album idea is not wise. Music is constantly evolving  - the only way this would work is if Axl has recorded three timeless albums, non specific to any genre, style or fad (eg. Appetite) - however, Axl is in a totally different climate than he was when he had to follow up Appetite and I think thats why we've waithed this long. When Illusions were being released, Guns were the biggest band in the world, following up a hit album of vast magnitude - this was prior (albeit only slightly ) to Nirvana, the rise of hip hop, pop etc... With CD, Axl is not following up a monster - there is a lot more riding on it, and there won't be the instant acceptance/sales that Illusions enjoyed solely because it was Guns...

so...  an absolute classic, flawless double album is what i'm dreaming of for CD, and i think perhaps that would be enough for me - some closure as a GN'R fan, and hopefully a work that will stand alongside the rich legacy that Guns have left

A triple album .. release it all at once and slap the music industry in the face. 3 albums released in one package on the same day would be just so much to digest and comprehend.  nervous

I'd love it!  love
