Whilst Ive never had acdtual road "rage" there's plenty of things that really get under my skin.

I hate it when its peak hour, Im out on the highway going to work, and some thoughless doofus has decided that that's an okay time to take their kid out on the road for a driving lesson - and I have to drive as slow as they do!!  I mean, in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday or Sunday is fine - but when people are driving to work is just plain selfishness! That really makes me mad. rant

The other thing is when people tailgate me, cause they want to speed and I dont. I was booked for speeding once, and dont want to speed anymore - but they think that dangerous driving (driving too close to the car in front) is the way to get me to speed - it wont. All it does is make me annoyed, and runs the risk of a bad accident if I have to brake suddenly!! rant

I've always found it interesting how passionate people get about driving.  People who otherwise can control their temper completely lose it behind the wheel.  Screaming at others (who can't hear them) cutting them off, even chasing them.  Why do people take driving so seriously?  And whatever you do, you must never criticize a friend's driving.  They will become furious.  Its like people take it as an attack on their character.  People argue over who's a better driver.  Why is that?

I once had a psychology teacher say that his theory was that driving represents a person's first steps to independence.  So if you criticize their driving, you are actually challenging their adulthood.

Here the main problem or road rage is the weather, is very hot, every time there's a lot of sun people get frustated and people start behavin like pricks. Once I made a experiment (if i can call it that way), I spent one day in this inferno weather  and try to watch the behaivour of the drivers, anyone gets upset, for every little thing it coud be the guy in front of him is driving slowly or the guy behind him is trying to go ahead of him.
Then I spent the weekend in the highlands, Cuenca city, that place is very cold but people over there are nicer than us (guayaquil guys), the people driving is less stressing, is less agressive and there's no rush for anything as comparing what it happens in this city.
So I think the weather is a great factor for road rage.  peace

What do you think causes people to get road rage?

How can it be avoided?

If you take my companion who outroaded himself at 180km/hour with his bmw and came out of it thanking himself for not using his safety belt and laughing out to whoever admired him, if you take the fact that we had a crash 3 years ago in which an 18 year old's 1200CC motorbike crashed into us and since my companion viciously tries to make motorbike users fault, if you take a man who smiles stupidly when he says he has had fun with the car ( meaning almost killed 2 grannies, 10 dogs and 3 schoolboys in paris) , i'd say it's due to how he was educated.

JF, my companion, is a stupid man.

A very stupid man with a very high IQ. Funnily renough. He is also full of vices and very weak. He hasn't got the right to do anything when his mother is around ( bless, he is ONLY 35 years old lol ) so takes the right to do all instead and became extremely selfish.

He was always the little prince, but caged up. Alyways the pretty one. Always the clever one. Always the most protected. Always the suffocated. He was brought up to feel guilty about having pleasures. etc etc etc...

So he likes fast driving.

He is fast at everything.

He wants the result before even giving something of himself for it.
He is a man who has arrived before even leaving.

Sometimes, i tell JF this sentence :

You fuck me off so much that it's as if you want someone to kill you so you don't have to do it yourself.

Meditate.

I used to deal with roadrage everyday....now, not so much..I just relax and sit back and watch the idiots and try to derive entertainment from it...I drive taxi and after 12 hours of crap, nothing really bothers me anymore...being a woman, I suffer a double stigmatism...a chick.. a woman driver.. a TAXI driver, makes me the most dangerous person on the planet Wink

I found this article about road rage prevention: The "Sorry" Sign

I've never heard of a "sorry" sign.? Huh

Here's the article:

Prevent Road Rage
Prevent Escalation
If you are looking for protection from the road rage of others, your best protection is to:

? Stay in the car
? Do not respond with an angry gesture or action
? Keep a "SORRY" sign in the car and use it when needed

Make a "SORRY" Sign
According to a regional survey conducted by Drs. Arnold P. Nerenberg and R. Jerry Adams, over half of drivers in the USA suffer from road rage.? ?The average number of incidents per road rager is 27.? ?That means that most of us will encounter road ragers many times in our lives.? ?Road rage can lead to injuries or even death.? ?The U.S. Highway Safety Office has testified to Congress that tens of thousands of accidents each year can be linked directly to aggressive driving, including road rage, and is now a leading cause of death for young children.

A road rager can become upset because you accidentally cut in front of him or her, or other reasons that were not intentional.? ?A key factor in reversing the process is an apology.? ?Over 85 percent of road ragers said that they would drop the matter if the other "careless" driver simply apologized.? ?Instead, road ragers claim, the "careless" driver seems to be unconcerned about what they just did and, therefore, needs to be taught a lesson.

In a car, only one method is effective in conveying an apology: A sign.? ?We have found that it is very effective in warding off anger.? ?In fact, many drivers actually smile when we raise a "SORRY" sign to them after we have accidentally done something wrong.? ?We keep a "SORRY" sign in the map holder on the driver's door and the passenger's door.? ?It could also be kept under the sun visor if it is fastened with a clip or rubber band so that it doesn't hit you in the face when the visor comes down.

Um, let me think..ah, no Im not going to the "microsoft chairman commity" whatever the hell a commity is supposed to be, Im not going there.

Didnt I say in my reply that I wasnt speeding? Im not expecting to go any faster than I am legally allowed to drive as a fully fledged driver - NOT the speed that a learner driver has to drive. And Im getting to work  - and like most people, Im not exactly going to be happy to be held up getting to work, and made late, by a selfish and thoughtless driver, who has no consideration for others on the road, at that time of the day!

As I said, if were Sunday afternoon, I would not be in the same frame of mind I am in, during the week, at peak hour. My point here is not about going fast..its about the irritation of people who think its ok to take their kid out for a drivers lesson at peak hour, during the week, rather than after hours - as I would do, if that decision were presented to me.

Do you have a job? Do you own a car?

I am a fast but safe driver and I hate when people

Drive below the speed limit, Get in the fucking slow lane assholes!!!

I really hate when people wont turn right on red when there is absolutely nothing coming, I mean dont turn if there is traffic, but shit when u can see a mile down the road and there are no cars, TURN TURN TURN

I usually let things slide and realize that people make mistakes, sometimes I get pissed but I would never be dumb enough to try and get out on someone, u are just askin to die.

Today I was driving to my job and was singing GNR UYI 2 as usual and this prick next to me started insulting me I understand this cause his mouth was moving like saying fuck this fuck that etc, so I'll turn the volume up and keep singing as nothing happened and the prick put his car infront of me so I can drive, I just stayed still clapson the guy and he kept insulting me, so the best thing to do was going retro and move forward like nothing happened and keep singing, the guy really loose control but he kept behind cause I made a U turn in another street and lead to other way. Anyway I had plenty time to get to my job, the weird thing is that I never knew what the hell happened to that guy.
Anyway "Shotgun blues shotgun blues,  If you're goin' up against me then you know you're gonna lose"
Keep singing  peace
