I've been writing poetry since I was a boy of 13 y/o in junior high school. I started out writing some lyrical poetry but it wasn't too great and it never rhymed. In 2000, I started using rhymes as a technique and then in late 2003, that's when I started expirementing with different things. Like writing narrative poetry, not using rhymes as much, etc...

I've posted some stuff in the Nice Boys Don't Play Rock N' Roll Section so it's not like this is a suprise to anybody  hihi

So, is there anybody here who writes poetry regularly or even just now and then?

I write when I'm depressed. makes me feel better. but I throw everything in the dustbin when I'm fine..It's just that ...everytime I read the things I wrote when I was depressed I find them so pathetic... nervous
something wrong with me?  confused

No, a lot of people write when they're mad/sad/depressed. I definitely write better stuff when I'm going through hard times.  ok

Yeah, songs can be fun to write. A lot of people seem to think that if you write songs, then you automatically have to sing them and be a musician and that makes me mad. I just look at myself as a poet who writes lyrics.

Maybe D, the master musician, has some insight into this...  peace

I used to try and write songs and poetry.  Looking back, I was a horrible writer... some of those songs could be emo hits! haha... I should try to write simpler, more light-hearted songs, as that seems to match my personality and musical preferences these days.

I'm a guitarist and have written some really good riffs, but song lyrics just won't come to me these days.? Back when I had a band our singer wrote all the words so I didn't need to worry about it, but no such luck now.

One day i'll be a famous rock star. yes

Yeah, song lyrics came to me naturally. Sometimes, even without an instrument, melodies and song beats came to me. Nothing powerful but the talent is definitely there.
