When GNR (old band), performed in Israel in 1993, it was (and still is) the biggest international band concert ever in Israel. There were 40.000 people at the Tel-Aviv gig. Plus everytime I go to Israel, I hear Guns N' Roses music everywhere. This band just hit this country like no other bands ever. Even U2 or Madonna have never been as successfull as GNR in this country. isn't Slash half-jewish also? He played "hava naguila hava" on guitar. Smiley

Yeah, pretty sure he was making a political statement.

i dont think he was. he may well hold those specific political views but to me it just sounds like an affable, off the cuff reply from someone.

Agreed. Perhaps we are reading a bit much into this. Axl was at a party, probably a little drunk, a little high. Sounds like he just gave a funny reply.

Maybe he said "I'll be in Israel again" or something like that.

i think "i`ll be in israel" would make perfect sense....

Apparently, you have no sense of history or you are completely ignorant of what goes on in the world! But, there are a lot of people that don't believe in Israel (i.e. Iran, the Palestinians, Bin Laden). They don't recognize it's right to exist. Some people in this country, USA, think we give too much support to Israel.

For Christ's sake (no pun intended, because it isn't one) Read a book or pick up a newspaper once in awhile.

I think it's funny that now we just shrug it off if Axl wants to drink or do drugs, when only a few months ago there would be threads popping up ever so often such as: "What drugs dig Gn'R do?!" "Who did the most drugs?!" "Was Axl a junkie or just a stoner?" hihi

It might not have been overtly politicial or intended as a political statement to the world, but it certainly wasn't meant to be funny. Obviously, the kid takes pride in his country and Axl was trying to make him feel good. Still, he wouldn't have said "believe" if he didn't mean it.

So he wouldn't say that.

I don't see someone who wrote the lyrics for Madagascar (with the speech of martin luther king) CD,IRS, saying something political to a fan in a party casually.

You talkin' to me?? Grin I can't tell is that sarcasm? . . .

I think it IS ENTIRELY BELIEVABLE that Axl would say "I believe in Israel". What I was responding to was someone saying that Axl meant to be "FUNNY". There is nothing funny about that. At the same time, it is not like saying "I believe that Israel should retain the lands they captured in the 6-day War".?That IS political. I think he was trying to relate to a fan and obviously the fan took a lot of pride in where he came from. And, Axl supports Israel.

Yeah but to do it today would be very very bad... 40,000 people in one place + one very big bomb = destruction...

alternativemonkey,

Read the original post before telling others to read a book n newspaper and think about it again.

Does the flow of the dialogue seem natural to you?
