As for CD2006, you never had a chance at liking death metal with your attention span. Go back to listening to pop-punk or radio-approved classic rock, or whatever you listen to.

my attention span has very little to do with me not being able to enjoy this garbage you call music. my musical taste is actually quite varied, but it certainly does not include listening to some guy belch out nonsense which can't be interpreted any better than a sheep with a broken throat.

If you limit your musical ear to just the vocals then you're an idiot. People ragging on this band and laughing at them should be laughed at for their ignorance.

Nile are a fantastic and extremely talented band. The Egyptian themes they have in their songs are great but what I love the most is the exotic flavour they use in melodies and solos. I agree with Walk on that people who call such music 'garbage' have a short attention span.

If anyone wants to listen to some more 'acessable' death metal then try out Opeth. Their vocalist has one of the most beautiful voices that I've heard, and has a very enjoyable growl.

Angela Gossow...the hottest chick in metal, maybe in all of music period.? love

Don't get me wrong I love the music of Napalm Death, but everytime I see them I laugh...they should really be wearing clownshoes for the whole effect.? rofl
Having seen both bands live I can confirm Miss Gossow is hot but I'd disagree about the Napalm comment - they'd have to be some down right fuckin nasty clown shoes!!

Whilst I have the chance, can I pick your brains about "Gorguts" Walk? Do they employ similar growly vocals? I've heard them touted highly by some and wanted your thoughts.

Gorguts use a lot of unorthodox elements in their metal. Their song structures are always weird and hard to pick up on and remember. The drumming is very technical, and they don't overuse the double bass. I prefer Deeds of Flesh (they're easier to listen to), but Gorguts is still a very great death metal band. I recommend their album Obscura to start out with. It is EXTREMELY dissonant, even by death metal standards, but it's musically brilliant.

And yes, Gorguts use the death voice, but it's not as deep as many other bands, but still very grating. If you want death metal without the death voice, you'll have to look at either melodic death (uses it occasionally) or old school 80's death metal. You should start with that stuff first.
