I think what we've been waiting years and years for is about to happen. Axl could get away with not releasing an album and playing theatres, but the fact that he's playing arenas is a sign that he's about to put out a single and release an album. What do you guys think? These arenas will be half empty if Axl doesn't release a single, and I think he knows it. I hope he announces a show in Seattle, Vancouver, or best of all, Victoria!!

I thought the same thing in 2002, and look how well that worked out.

Just wait a few months and see how things progress - there's no guarantees with this band.

I don't think he'd be allowed to play arenas if he wasn't releasing an album. It's either going to happen now or he's going to fuck the whole thing up and it'll all be over. I believe Axl's going to come through.

Very true. Given the leaks, and the way this lineup is thriving, I remain hopeful. ? beer

I hope that the bigger shows mean bigger news, but who's to say? It's the middle of august, and the first shows are about a month away. That's not much time to get a single out, promote it and have it boost ticket sales.   drool

I'm not quite sure these arenas will only be half full, I think even without a single or album they will still be packed following the awesome European tour.

I think Axl WILL produce this time around. I think he knows he can't do another 2002 this time around (he can start the tour without the goods like 2002 but he knows he has to follow through with the goods), he has to produce the goods and I don't think he would have put the wheels in motion without knowing 110% that this is happening this time around.

Peter Frampton was trying to sell tickets for $70 at the McPherson. What a TWAT. The Save On Foods Centre really needs a rock show. Back on topic. Axl has to release a single now because it's the only way he'll be able to have a chance at selling out these arenas.

People in North America, minus the hardcore fans of course, don't care how the tour went in Europe. People in North America know that Slash isn't in the band and that the 2002 tour was a joke. They have to release the new material here or they will have no chance at gettiing past the fact that this band doesn't include the top hatted one.

Ifind that alot of people didnt even know that they toured in 2002, and these are people I knwo here in NY, , and Im sure most of america was clueless that GNR toured then.

I grant it many may know that the band is slashless and whatever, but I almost asuredly say that this time things are different, and GH , (like it or not), brought abut a newer and younger generation of fans who if you havent knowticed are pouring into all the GNR forums, researching whats goin on , whos in the band etc, and many dig the new tunes.

Another thing that was definitly lackin was a real good promotion of the shows. whereas I personally think they are doin this in the right way this time. Setting up markets, not blowing thier wad all at once, by anouncing every show they plan to do right away. its creating a buzz, a groundswell of anticipation. And its doin pretty well up to this point I would think. One thing I will b curious about is seeing how these other cali shows sell .

As far as the album I have no doubts that it will be released . And Im guessing that at the "new warm ups", TWAT and CD will definitly get more play IMO, and perhaps something new.

Either way, Im excited as hell for the things to come!

Retarded? How so, explain the retardation .

If anything its building more press, and news articles . and keeps the  momentum goin. Wereas if they announce the entire tour schedule , they get one week worth of press, people forget , cost more to generate publicity and promotion when in reality its the news outlets that are reporting all the happenings, do you by chance have GNR google alerst rom news wires, , damn everyday now since feb when the leaks started they have increased tenfold, after a day I find 4or 5 news outlets online that have reported , something on GNR, and yes evn these tour dates are coming in.

The retarded thing imo is to do what they did last time and jsut through out a entire tour itinerary whre only WE, cared about , and there was no momentum to keep stories goin from differnt areas that are reporting these shows to certain areas.

And for instance , the show in Bakersfield their local online news outlet for the area , newspaper , has it on thier website. With a  article announcing the band coming to them.

It's been a long, long time. But Axl Rose is back on the road with Guns N' Roses, and the band is stopping in Bakersfield.

Guns N' Roses, once one of the world's biggest rock acts, has scheduled a concert at Rabobank Arena on Sept. 29, according to a press release from publicist Live Nation Monday.

Ticket prices and a show time were not announced.

Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Live Nation, and will be available at LiveNation.com, Ticketmaster.com and Wherehouse Music stores. Ticketmaster is also handling ticket sales by phone at 322-2525.

Guns N' Roses has not played shows in Southern California in 14 years, according to Live Nation.

The definitive Guns N' Roses lineup, featuring Rose on vocals, Slash and Izzy Stradlin on guitars, Duff McKagan on bass and Steven Adler on drums, began to disintegrate after the release of the band's smash debut, "Appetite for Destruction," in 1987.

Today Rose is the band's sole remnant of the classic lineup. Serious Guns N' Roses fans are still waiting for the release of "Chinese Democracy," which has been in production since 1998.

I see nothing retarded in how they are goin aobut things

This article made it into the "Bakersfield" online news outlet.. and not many others.. So it's getting publicity, but not on a national level.? Aside from "us" not many people outside of California & Vegas are aware GnR are playing shows in the US. I wouldn't call it "retarded" but let's try not to make it out into some ingenious marketing campaign either..? If they're smart, they'll announce a full blown out tour & tour dates soon. Rather than keep doing this all year.

I look at it a bit differntly maybe IM wrong, could be , but I would bet rock fans all over Cali and probablyu most of thje west are getting wind of GNR touring there, and as they add dates and if reponse is good as it appears to be thus far, it creates more anticipation for the rest of us in the country. Rock fans are rock fans, and know good music, well maybe not all do but for many who are the younger audience between the ages of 16and up, who are more redily able to go to a rock show and you cannot say GNR have not become pretty big again and very much in peoples mind. All I ahve to do is go to the local pub whre after work I hang out with friends  and no matter when I go there someone is playing GNR . ANd this pubs crowd after 10 pm is made up a crowd of 19 and up.(fake Ids).

2002 there wasnt this trend goin  like now. I say rid eit out , IVe been a fan for 20 yrs. The pulse surrounding GNR today isnt so far off when I first got into them. Its cool to be there were the rebirth. BUt as always Axl has to deliver big time this time. Ive never been pessimistic, but this time it is do or die .

I have to agree. In 2002 there was not nearly the buzz for GNR that there is now. Back then, you would hear a song on the radio occasionally, but now rock stations are playing them almost every hour. Like it or not, the response to GH has been huge, and Axl should be happy about that even if he does not love the product itself. The time is right - here's hoping he cares enough to take advantage of it. As far as I'm concerned, there are more positive signs than negative.
