Here Today...

If any of you folks on here are into Dissection (I'm sure theres not many!) - the frontman Jon Nodveidt has commited suicide.

Great band, shame his life was tarnished by being an accomplice to murder - not the best legacy to leave really. Still some will say he has got what he deserves.

Thorns of Crimson Death
Where Dead Angels Lie
Night's Blood

You would really be missing out if you didn't hear it all, though. It's an absolutely brilliant album. Notice that the album is #6 for 1995 (and #237 overall!) on rateyourmusic.com. It beats out all kinds of pop and rap albums, which is very impressive for black metal. Note that the production on this album is SHARP. It's not the tr00 kvlt production that most mediocre black metal bands like these days. It's clear and beautiful, as is the music itself; it isn't ugly or bleak, the way most black metal is. You'll just have to hear it to understand.

Storm of the Light's Bane is the album. You won't regret getting it. It's a classic of the genre.

It's black metal singing. You'll get used to it over time. Maybe start with Opeth, which mixes the harsh vocals with clean singing. It seems that Opeth is what gets most people into black metal now; it's where they start out.
