Hey,

Since Dear Science was named best album of 2008 by Rolling Stone, I thought I'd give some samples a try at amazon.

http://www.amazon.com/Dear-Science-TV-Radio/dp/B001EOQTSI/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1229119970&sr=8-1

It sounds pretty cool--although I don't know if it's the best thing I've heard this year. Never even heard of TVOTR before seeing that RS loved their album.

I think I'll pick it up. Any thoughts on this band?

I wanted to like it.  I really did.  Being #1 on Rolling Stones list has got to mean something.  Right??

You can stream the entire record on their myspace site.

I just can't get into it.  Oh well.

Check out "Return to Cookie Mountain" also

never heard of them. checked out the previews on the amazon.

the music is good but the vocals sound like the guy is scared to speak. Crap vocals which puts me off it. Which is a shame.

on Dancing Shoes there's these lyrics :

I see you figured in
your action pose
Foam-injected Axl Rose,
Life size
Should something shake you
And you drop the news,
Lord, just keep your
dancing shoes Off mine

"Cookie Mountain" was an interesting listen from a recording and writing standpoint, but I can't say I really enjoyed much of it at all.  By comparison, "Dear Science" is a much more immediate and accessible record, and far more enjoyable from start to finish.  A very surprising and solid record.

I got it for Christmas and I love it.  It took me a few listens.  Very unique music with each song standing on its own.
