Special guests? are they guests on DL or WS or what?

and istn't Korn and Manson bigger then Def leppard too?
Def Leppard have one of the biggest selling albums of all time.

So i dont think so

i think everybody here knows that man  Tongue but thank you captain obvious

i'm not talking about 87 though, bat out of hell sold like 35-40 million but that doesn't mean meat loaf is bigger in 2009 then coldplay for example

i'm not saying any of those 2 should headline download

but I'm saying that just because DL had some huge albums all that time ago doesn't mean people are that eager to see them now, especially when they haven't released any huge sucess albums as of lately (right?) and have toured pretty frequently the last couple of years eh?

also, I'm pretty sure manson and korn would be considered bigger in Sweden then DL but that might differ to England (maybe since they're from there and all)

DL still have a very dedicated fanbase in england.

They have also had a bit of a revival in recent years with people my age, due to songs like pour some sugar on me, and lets get rocked receiving air play once more. Practically, half of the kids in my village have one of their songs on their mobile phone.

When i went to see DL tour the arena was full.

I'm still deliberating over whether to go. I've auditioned for a lead part in a play and I've seen all the bands there I want to see - I don't know whether it'll be worth going if I get it... If not I will. I have a feeling that only Axl could make me go if I get this. Crue were brilliant in 07 and so were Buckcherry but good enough to pay out and go again... Hmmmmm. GN'R won't do it again (well I sincerely doubt it - and who can blame them after the hecklers and shit at the 06 gig - phenomenal as they were...)... But I can dream (and do, frequently).  Grin

Not a fan of the Crue, but they should not be playing below Korn and Limp Bizkit.

It's a sad and sickening place.   Sad Last time I saw Crue there I walked past the main stage (Linkin Park  Tongue ) afterwards and some little chick shouted 'Motley Crue Suck' at me before literally ducking behind her bewildered boyfriend. I just laughed at her and said 'Ok - you have a nice night chicky' and winked at her partner. *Shakes head* - why do people feel the need to be ****s like that - just watch your band and be happy - I wasn't being nasty to her - I didn't say anything derogatory about the band she was watching. I don't think Motley Crue are playing below Korn and Limp Bizkit, it looks like they are headlining the second stage

I will probably not be there, but if by some miracle I have a decent excuse to go to england, I hope to see Chris Cornell, Opeth, Meshugga, and Loaded all on the main stage (that would make almost everyone I would be coming to see so far on one stage).  Either way, I am SO following this on youtube.  Amazing lineup.

Anyhow, aside from those four Slipknot, Dragonforce, and Dream Theater would be the ones I'll follow for sure.  I might follow Def Leppard (don't know 'em might a few guys recommended them.  Plus, a one-armed drummer?), Korn (don't know them but after what happened to there lead singer last year, I can't help but to chear them on), and Motley Crue (only heard one song by them, but I liked what I was hearing(.  Anyways, for those guys saying "OMG this isn't as great as the other years!"  Keep in mind that the list is only half-complete so far.

In addition to the live performances there will also be exclusive behind the scenes news reports coming live from our reporters Rhodri Thomas and Katie P. Highlights will also be broadcast on VH1 Classic and MTV Palladia as well as a special episode of 'That Metal Show', the rock talk-show hosted by Eddie Trunk with co-hosts Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson

Download Festival 2008 Music TV Presenter Competition winner Rhodri Thomas has teamed up with Katie P from Kerrang! Mark Yovich, Executive Vice President and General Manager, International Digital, Live Nation says:

"Once again Download is leading the way with its embracing of digital technologies and striving to deliver a unique experience for its global fanbase.
