DRUMline: You're going out somewhere else coming up, Dubai?

Richard: Australia...and Abu Dhabi that's right, you were close. Right down the street from Dubai.

DRUMline: You guys are doing big shows all over the world.

Richard: Yup.

DRUMline: That's amazing.

Richard: It is amazing [smiles].

Haven't heard anything on this show however - Sting is playing there in March, and Metallica in April, so GN'R certainly could.

The show is part of the "du World Music Festival"

http://www.du.ae/en/dulive/EventsDetails?event=/Guns_n_Roses_live_in_Abu_Dhabi_2013

"The best live music is back to the UAE this spring, with the third edition of du World Music Festival in association with Samsung, from 22 March?6 April 2013.

This year, the du World Music Festival will be bigger than ever before, and concerts will be held for the first time in both Abu Dhabi (at the du Arena) and in Dubai (Dubai Media City Amphitheatre and Dubai Tennis Stadium)."

So many high profile gigs, wonder if they would consider playing my 40th on Long Island NY this summer?

How many GNR shows over the last 7 years haven't started with ChiDem and ended with Paradise City? In the middle they almost always include Jungle, November Rain, Sweet Child, Nighttrain, Better, It's So Easy, Mr Brownstone, Rocket Queen, Patience, LALD, Knockin on Heaven's Door and lately Estranged and Don't Cry.

Effectively therefore the shows are the same. They also invariably play those songs in the same order, night after night.

Which is fine. Those are the band's hits and it's what the majority of the fans want to see. What I would prefer to see, is less cover songs, or at least cover songs that GNR recorded. GNR have recorded a shitload of cover songs in their history. Throwing out Sympathy for the Devil, Mama Kin or Ain't it Fun, wouldn't interfere with the show in the slightest, yet would add something legitimate and a bit of difference to the show.

Also the guitarist solos are getting a bit lame. I'm pretty sure most fans are at the point where they know who the band is, or at least have come to understand that the "allumni" are no longer in GNR and don't overly care about about the new guys, so long as they play well enough, in much the same way that most casual fans probably don't really care about "The Conspirators" so long as they accompany Slash well. (That opinion is based on reviews constantly pointing out how well the "new guys" play. They do I agree, but the fact it has to be brought up, shows that non-hardcore fans still aren't fully accepting them and probably won't, but that's fine as long as they play well.)

I also think it would be great to bring some old songs into the show, not that I was disappointed with what they played at all. When The Seeker came in people liked it, is it just that Axl can't sing If The World, Chipping Away or that they don't want to? The little bit of Chipping Away (which I'd never heard before) that is on youtube sounds fantastic & I'd love him to include that even though they didn't write it.  yes

Whenever Axl sings someone else's song his voice always sounds better than the other singer, like Tom Petty with Free Falling, Springsteen with Come Together, Bohemian Rhapsody with Elton - Axl's unusual vocals just make him stand out over the others, or is it that I just like his voice more than the others? To me he just steals the show with his vocal range - maybe I'm bias.  Cheesy
