Has anyone heard the edited version of AFD? How do they edit it? Do they bleep the swear words, cut out a few seconds, or what?

I believe that in some places near swear words is silience and in some places, whole new words all together.

Yea I know she probably listens to shit that is on the same level with language, but it's a parent thing. I say the word Fuck all the time, but I don't say it in front of my kids. She may sneak a beer every now and then, but I'm not going to give her a beer when we go out.

 I think it's a great way to introduce a kid to great music.

You missed my point. I am not going to hand my niece an album that my brother and his wife would not buy for the kid themselves. If she was in my car and we were driving around yea I'd play it. But if I gave it to her at that age, they'd probably woudn't be to happy about it. It's called respecting the boundaries they have for their child. Even if I didn't agree with it, I'd still respect it.

It's an edited version. Censorship is if the edited version was the only one available. This is an alternative version that is offered without curse words.

Scarface sucks on tv, it's true. I like watching R movies on TV with my kids cause they bleep the words and nudity. ( Even edited, I wouldn't watch Scarface with my kids-not at their age.) That way I can enjoy them with my daughter in the room and not have to worry about certain parts.

I see both sides. In this case, with my niece, my brother is pretty laid back. But a couple of songs that say "suck me" or "fuck off" may push it for him. Also an edited version is good because she is the oldest. So even if her parents didn't care that much, she's still got siblings that are 10, 4, and 2.

We both know she hears it in school, or at her friends, but the job as parents is to draw some type of line in the sand. It's not the words per se, it's the principle really. Look at the Ozbourne kids. They walk around the house saying "fuck off". If my kid said that, they'd be laying on the floor in a second

The edited version is like everything else in life: not for everybody. I play AFD all the time, but don't crank it in front of my kids. I just don't.

To give an answer about editing, I think it's all up to the record label what words get dropped.  My first GNR album was an edited copy of Live Era (I was 15 at the time, and my parents had used fuck, shit, etc. around me my whole life, but didnt think i should hear it on an album... fuckin' hypocrites).  The cut out words included fuck (numerous songs), "drink and drive" (ISE), cocaine (YCBM), heroin (My Michelle), and "hari kiri" (Estranged).  Just seems a bit asinine to cut these while leaving words like shit and bitch.  Frankly, I'd rather hear my as-yet nonexistant kid talking about cocaine than about "some bitch."  Hearing the word cocaine isn't going to make someone go out and do blow.

It's like my dad smoking and telling me he wish I didn't smoke when I was a kid. Yea he's a hypocrite, but he's really wants what's best for me. In that case he didn't want me to smoke.

Sure everybody cusses, and does this and that. But plenty of people change and all of a sudden don't want those things for their children. EVEN THOUGH it was perfectly ok for them up until that point. Many people improve themselves because of their children.

Again it's all up to the parent what gets them in a huff. and what they permit the kid to see/hear thing is better than a neglected child. I've seen people grow up without attention, parents let them do whatever, say whatever...basically didn't care. And those kids were fucked up imho.

The act of buying it isn't censorship, and I didn't say it was.  I said it was supporting censorship.

The edited version is censored.  By buying the censored version, you're adding another sold copy to the credit of the censored version.  That only encourages record companies to release censored versions, even if they're released alongside complete versions.

I don't have kids,but my sisters do.I don't cuss around them.I listen to uncensored stuff all of the time,but I never do when kids are around.

My parents were always telling me not to do this and not to do that,but ofcourse I did what they didn't want me to do.
