...of all the bootleg versions of the new GN`R song *The Blues* to be found on the net, the version performed during the Rockin N`Rio III show was the best.

It`s just a shame there were sound issues. By the time CD comes out, when ever i hear the song *The Blues* - i`m always going to hear those immortal words `OK, NEVER MIND!`. Those words have somehow burnt them selves into my brain   rant

Dunno about you?  peace

Boston was a better performance in my opinion. Listening to rio now, the song seems so primitive. It's grown as the band have played it more.

The 3 Cam Boston version on gunsnroses US is the best I'm reckoning... especially when axl sings 'you know i...' sounds amazing.

You can hide beneath the covers and study your pain, make crosses from your lovers throw ROSES in the rain.......nice ADZ. Grin I like the Rio version of the Blues best myself.

Why are you reading this?

« Reply #6 on: February 26, 2004, 03:54:12 PM »

I also think the Rio version of 'the blues'  is the best I have yet heard, simply because I think the song works better at that slightly faster tempo (the same goes for 'Chinese Democracy'). I also reckon the unintentional 'OK nevermind' ad lib was a nice touch, and should be poart of the studio version.

I thought i was the only one! I love that bit

I have tried to avoid listening to the bootlegs where possible - because if u grew realy fond of a certain version of the song - and they change it.........

I like the quicker paced Chinese Democracy as well except I prefer the two solos with Finck then Bucket adding on. Bucket's added solo makes up for Finck's weak solo in my opinion. Finck's solo  is too thin sounding for my taste. Undecided

I think of the "Ok, Nevermind" every time I hear The Blues.  Another one that gets me is from Patience on the DVD's where Axl says "ahem Bullshit" after saying 'sit here on the stairs cause i'd rather be alone'.

Good job fuckers!

You just had to do it didnt you...you just couldnt keep your pie holes shut huh?

You know what you motherfuckers just did? You just delayed the album for at least another year.

You know after Axl reads this, he is going back in the studio to add this right? Of course it won't sound quite right so it will take at least a few months to lay it down. Of course Bucket will have to be brought back in to ad some high riff just to cue the new line.

...yea good job  ok

Very nice BuddhaMaster.  hihi  This thread reminded me of the, "Gimme that shirt!" from Don't Cry, Paris 6-6-92.  The "Kill Your Idols" shirt made famous that day.
The Blues is such a friggin beautiful song.

That happens to me too... and it fits so much in the silence part that it seems it belongs there !!! it was a part of the song that I even used to sing with the rest when I was hearing it.

When Rio3 was the only boot to be seen from the new band I didn't dig The Blues.......But when I went to Toronto in 2002 that was the best version(Axl's vocals),that Boston or Albany.

No at RIR3 it was during Its So Easy.. and he was ejecting a guy who was holding up some insulting shirt.. I think it said Axl sucks or GNR=Slash or something? Can someone enlighten me?

But Paris 92 was a seperate incident.. he asked to have a shirt that said Axl Fuck Me which he had a laugh with.

"O.K., Nevermind!"

« Reply #17 on: February 26, 2004, 11:13:53 PM »

The best thing to do is to put "The Blues - ballad version" on CD and then "The Blues - live from Rio" (clear version with OK nevermind) on some single or in the second cd (a studio quicker version, without the "OK Never mind").

It would be like Don?t Cry: one song three versions (original, alt. and demo).
