What do you think of the lineup without Buckethead?

I think its pretty lackluster...none of the members really stand out or are anything special.  The band is bland.

I think the nu-GnR just lost its second most important link.  I never cared much for Bucket's dress and stage antics...but at least his "tophat" and persona were somewhat similar to Slash...and he was an interesting player...definitely more interesting than Fincky boy.

IF GnR even exists anymore, I think the remaining members leave a lineup that leaves ALOT to be desired.  What do you think?

The band is still very good, they are just not great.
Robin will do fine doing all the leads

Release the album as a W. Axl Rose solo album with all the (ex-)members as "session musicians". Forget about touring.

Yes, and that is why Axl shouldn't use it's name.

I think they will survive... Robin was Slashes original replacement....  2 Lead Guitar players was never the original plan anyways...

Im still not convinced B Head is gone...

OKAY OKAY OKAY, I'll admit that before I was a huge Finck hater. Now I'll give him this: I realize that he is a very very very emotional player, and puts a lot of feeling into how he deals with the guitar. The problem is, I don't like how that sounds, he does little things that sound off and don't give with the old GNR songs. HOWEVER on the new songs I like his fresh approach, I'm just hoping for rio that they can get a more bluesy type lead player to play the old stuff with the same "fuck you" swagger that slash did.

But, I will grant Finck that his style fits the new type of stuff Axl is gonna be putting out, i just don't like his work on the old songs, which are a different style all together.

What do I think of GNR now that Buckethead's out?

Good question.

I don't think GNR even exists without Buckethead.  So they have quickly become (as if they weren't already) a huge non-factor.

I look at the current line up and the hope i once had just slips away

Buckethead was the most talented member - people like Finck and Fortus didn't seem to matter when Bhead was there, they would be playing second fiddle to him

He had a great gimmick going, he got peoples attention - and had the ability to hold that attention, sure he's no Slash but he's a fuckin awesome guitarist

They seem very average without him.

Since we have not heard CD yet we don`t know exactly how much buckethead contributed. No doubt they`d be better off with him, he`s a phenominal guitarist. Fortus can play awesome leads and honestly I think GNR doesn`t necssarily need to replace him. This will give Finck and Fortus more room to contribute.

Yes I am looking at the bright side. I am just hoping Brain doesn`t jump ship also.

Axl get your shit together and release the album before its too late.

Well as he played those lead parts badly i think we can chalk that one off to a mistake....

If ur trying to imply Finck is as good as Bhead, or perhaps even better...then....er......well

He needs to keep this same band together.  I mean what is Axl thinking.  Release the album, tour, and keep your fans updated.  Quit making people leave and keep your new lineup together, your making a fucking ass of yourself.

no, i didnt imply that... but what i did mean is that there must be one reason why he plays the bigest parts of the solo's. maybe BH never was as much involved with GNR at all.....

maybe buckethead just used axl and the GNR name and legacy to promote himself?

It totally SUCKS that Buckethead has apparently left.

But as has been pointed out that still leaves 2 guitarists each with 20+ years experience.  First of all I absolutely love Finck.  He stole my heart a few times over already.  I love his vibe.  Live he is absolutely beautiful.  Intense even when he is calm.  He is the perfect fit in this GN'R lineup.  And Fortus fucking rocks.  I am actually looking forward to hearing him play more parts now (if BH is indeed out).  That being said along with Finck, Tommy is my favorite of the new Guns N' Roses.  I love his energy and his attitude.
Tommy is a pure rocker.

So what do I think of GN'R without Buckethead?  I still love them and hope that I will have the opportunity to see them soon.

And if I can't be there when it happens I will be jumping up and down wherever I am squealing like a school girl:  Tommy!!!!  Robin!!!!

PS:  I think Brain is gone..  This is what really has me scratchin' my noggin.  We need a drummer!   crying   Ah but that is a different topic/thread.

Personally, i think with Buckethead leaving it really looks like a real band now :)I mean Buckethead was easily the most skilled guitar player when improvising solos and shredding old song solos but other then that on stage he doesnt contribute much, and in my opinion Robin was more of a valued and useful member then Buckethead. Saying without Buckethead, this band will be hard to grab attention is true, i mean if i wore a kabuki mask and a KFC bucket on my head around town people would think im a fucking retart. Who really cares if Robin is a goth, i mean if Axl performed in a loincloth, everyone here would still worship him so cut the guy some slack. New GnR lives on....sort of ok

VERY MEDIOCRE.....as compared to the old band, but still better than the majority of shit on the radio today. Axl still has a gift for melody and Bucket or no Bucket won't change that. Grin

GNR will be fine with just 2 guitarists. Buckethead was awesome, but we don`t know how much of an impacht he actually made with Chinese Democracy since no one has heard it yet.

I just hope Brain does not leave also. That could be a problem. Maybe Axl will be taking drum lessons also?

OK this is just my opinion so it don't mean shit, becuase opinions are like ass hole right, everyones got one.

I have been a long time learker of this website and forum and have even from time to time send Jarmo info and news and hoping that the new album would get released but I decided to post here after all these years because I really and truly believe that it is over.

I don?t think that Buckethead?s loss is great in terms of music, you can just get another hired gun. But to me his loss shows the state and situation of the band, in that the band members and even the record label as well as the fans are getting frustrated at Axl. And are slowly losing patience with him and many are jumping ship. I jumped when Duff walked, the Label is well and true pissed; the release of the Greatest hits album proves this. And over the last few days I have read posts by so many people that are New and Old GN?R that are sick of the bad treatment we get as fans. If Chinese Democracy ever hits the stores and it is even better than AFD I don?t think it will sell because the press and media are going to hate it and ridicule it because it has taken so long and it is Axl.

The only way GN?R can redeem itself is a reunion. Perhaps in 2007 we will see the AFD line up return for a 20-year anniversary tour for AFD. I have already bought my ticket.... Tongue
