Madagascar "stolen"

Don't know if this is worth mentioning, but in a Rally sport program on "Viasat 1" in Sweden today I heard Madagascar being played as a intro. It was no singing and it wasn't live. One of the producers probably did a "cover" of the song. The problem is that in the end credits it said something like "All rights reserved bla bla (can't remember the name) Limited 2004".
Is this okay since the song isn't released on any record?

The tv channel was "Viasat Sport 1" and the program "Motorsport: Swedish Rally - The Adventure".

In theory atleast there is nothing stopping a band doing covers of all the new GNR songs releasing them and getting all the credit for them (if not the royalties)

Okay, so they don't have to mention the writer of the song? The program will be broadcasted again 31/3 17:50. Maybe someone want record the program as don't have the channel myself.

So what your saying is a major televised event is playing unreleased GN'R songs as there introduction to the show? Did they say it was by GN'R and the title was Madagascar? Or did it sound completely different, sounds interesting.

It was absolutely Madagascar that was played, but without voice and it sounded studio rather than live. It wasn't just synth sound, it had a nice guitar sound too. It sounded like it could be a demo version from Axl's studio but I don't think a small Swedish tv producer would get hold of that
You got the impression that the whole program was completely done by the producing company.

This is my personal favorite new GN'R song. Is there anyway you can put it up on the net? So someone did remake it or was it just straight Madagascar from GN'R with no vocals? Did they mention anything about it or was it just played? So many question I mean who knows it might actually mean something.

But Viasat isn't the producer! They bought the program from a probably small producer that I can't remember the name of
Madagascar was used as the intro to the program.

That's not really true, you can have a song copyrighted before it's ever been released. All you have to do is submit it for copyright, and then no one can use it without your permission, and spending some of their green.

I don't have Viasat Sport 1, I saw it on a friends tv. Maybe I can get him to record the program.

Is everyone sure that "Madagascar" is 100% original? I do not know of any instance of Axl sampling before (like some pop/hip-hop artists do), but "Madagascar" is an unusual track. Since it already has all of the voice overs added in from films and speeches, perhaps Axl just decided to incorporate sampled background music as well? If that is the case, the television station would probably have been playing the original track. It is not like we've seen any official documentation to suggest GN'R are taking credit for the background music on "Madagascar".

Civil War has samples.
The music I heard was the "intro" of the song (without Axl's voice) including Bucketheads first solo, but ended before the samples. Probably between 1-2 minutes long.

If it is a studio cut maybe it means Axl is sending out random copies again like the I.R.S. incident? It would be great to hear the show with Madagascar playing in the backround. You really should try and record this Duga, and let us know if they tell you anything through e-mail!

It think it's a cover. I mean, it probably wasn't Buckethead that played the guitar in the version I heard.
