Lynyrd Skynyrd Adds 3rd Guitarist to the Army

Mark(Nashville, TN) - Legendary southern rock band LYNYRD SKYNYRD welcomes guitarist Mark Matejka to join Gary Rossington and Rickey Medlocke as part of the triple-guitar attack.  Matejka, politely dubbed with the nickname 'Sparky,' will fill the position previously held by Hughie Thomasson.

"It's a dream come true to play with Lynyrd Skynyrd and I couldn't be happier,' says Matejka.  'Having played with Charlie Daniels I feel it's an honor to be back playing in the southern rock tradition."

Matejka previously played with bands such as The Charlie Daniels Band, Hot Apple Pie, and Sons of the Desert.

And by the way I thaught this was super cool..I wish more bands were like this, truly care about the fans

ROCK LEGENDS LYNYRD SKYNYRD PERSONALLY
REFUND JULY 4TH SALISBURY, MD SHOW

BAND FORCED TO CANCEL PERFORMANCE
DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

(Nashville, TN) ? Lynyrd Skynyrd has announced they are personally offering a refund to patrons who purchased tickets to the July 4th Salisbury, Maryland show at Arthur W. Purdue Stadium.  Refunds will be made available through January 5, 2007 by visiting the Arthur W. Purdue Stadium Box Office located at 6400 Hobbs Road, Route 50 in Salisbury.  The show was cancelled due to severe weather complications.

In the past week, Lynyrd Skynyrd received word that the promoter halted refunds on July 31, 2006, leaving fans who had not received a refund jilted.  ?Our fans are what keep us going,? says Johnny Van Zant.  ?When we heard about this, we were all shocked!  We have very loyal fans and are also loyal to them.?  The band along with The Delmarva Shorebirds and Comcast-Spectacor has decided to donate money to ensure their fans receive a full refund, immediately.  In addition, the band hopes to return and perform in the area in the near future.

One of the hardest working groups in music today, Lynyrd Skynyrd performs hundreds of shows each year.  In 2006, the band performed on the VH1 Decades Rock Live (airing Sept. 1st), were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (March 13, 2006), and has been touring steadily throughout the yea

Any recomendation on how can I start to listen this band, perhaps a greatest hits? Here is quite complex to buy that kinda albums  Undecided

As another poster said, "All Time Greatest Hits" is a great selection of their best songs. Amazon.com has it for $9.99 and I'm sure stores like Best Buy have a good price on it too. A fair warning is that "Free Bird" is a LIVE version and the studio version is not included in this package. But this live version is an incredible one. It's over 14 minutes long and kicks total ass. You can download the studio version for free from anywhere. I've listened to that album many times over and over and it's just awesome. "Tuesday's Gone" is also not included in "All Time Greatest Hits."

"The Ballad of Curtis Lowe" is a track I highly recommend to anyone, especially anyone who ignorantly thinks Lynyrd Skynyrd were/are redneck racists.

Another greatest hits package is called "The Essential Lynyrd Skynyrd." It comes with the studio AND live versions of "Free Bird," as well as "Tuesday's Gone." It is a two-disc set and Amazon.com has it for $13.99, which is a good price for 25 songs. I personally own the first one mentioned so I can't comment on this one but it looks to be just as good except for more songs included.

I also recommend that if you get into there older stuff..Viscious Cycle is a must pickup...Its there lastest album and I belive its from 2001 but man it kicks ass...Thats How I Like It, The Way,Red,White & Blue, are all instant Skynyrd classics...And a great remake of Gimme Back My Bullets with Kid Rock

I am amazed the there are "rock fans" who don't know Skynyrd.
Listen to me: this is one of the best bands ever. Get any one, or all of their first 5 albums, and you can't go  wrong. They all are great, with no filler. The present  rendition of the band is  doing all of the all old songs--this is  a band that has been making money off the same songs for 30+ years, and you know what, the songs are still great. I  saw them (again) in 2006 and the old  songs still have the same  magic (if not exactly the same energy). So do yourself  a favor and get any of the original albums (1972-1977) and CRANK IT UP LOUD.

If you dig on Zakk Wylde you should pick up the Pride & Glory album. It's southern rock.

Southern music icons Hank Williams Jr. and Lynyrd Skynyrd will team up this spring for an outing dubbed the "Rowdy Frynds" tour.

"Hank played with Skynyrd years ago and it was one heck of a show," Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant said in a press release. "Since then, we've been looking for the opportunity to tour together, because his fans are our fans, and vice versa."
