You know how on UYI GnR finished songs they had for years that weren't done by AFD? (November rain, bad obsession, don't cry) Well I recall reading an interview where Kurt had said something similar to having done that with In Utero. He said he didn't have any left over material or anything so he was gonna write the next album from scratch. I only mention this because it leads me to believe that the unreleased recordings might mostly be demo's of songs and not alot of unreleased material. Then again You know your right was on the greatest hits package and I think it's one of their better songs ever so who kows.

A lot of it is Kurt's demos, new stuff, there are 68 tracks not on any other album, a total of 81 songs

There will also be another rearities album coming out after this, first the greatest hits CD "Nirvana", now the box set "With The Lights out", and later the rearities. (The first rarities album was Incesticide for those of you who do not know)

According to a posting at The Internet Nirvana Fan Club, Britain's Q magazine will bring the full track listing and an early review of the upcoming NIRVANA "With the Lights Out" box set in their December 2004 issue (#221) as part of an article entitled "Last Testament. The Nirvana boxset. Kurt Cobain's curtain call."

The track listing for the box set, due on November 23 via Geffen Records (one day earlier internationally), doesn't specify where the songs are from ? as in the source session or performance. However, The Internet Nirvana Fan Club webmaster has tried to provide that information when possible, based on educated guesses and extensive knowledge of the NIRVANA recordings. He writes: "Please note that this source information is mostly speculation and by no means confirmed officially. Some sessions I'm sure of, while in other cases I've used the word 'possibly' to mark uncertainty. The source info is only intended to be used as reference. Though, the listing of actual song titles should be 100% accurate. "

Yeah the foo fighters have some good songs but dave is a truely awesome drummer. Songs without him still have a chance to be pretty cool but the drums on bleach don't live up to other stuff with dave on it.

Dave is one of the greatest, but Chad was good too.

anyone know why he left Nirvana?
they had another guy on guitar on Bleach as well (Jason something I believe), wonder why they left, Ive never read up on that.

No Jason Everson was not on Bleach, he was listed in the credits as playing guitar, but he did not play. However he was on the cover for bleach, and I am not sure why Chad channing left, but there were other drummers too such as Dale Crover and Dan Peters.

Jason Everman played a handful of live shows with Nirvana, yet he was only listed on the credits of Bleach because he ponied up the money for the recording sessions...Never played a single note....According to Michael Azzerad, the author of the definitive Nirvana biography "Come As You Are", Channing left Nirvana because he was from Cambridge, supposedly a very hippie-like stoner town, very laid back, worlds apart from Kurt and Kris.....Kurt explains that he was once at Channing's house perusing hs record collection, and apparently was not very impressed by what he saw....Considered him a bit of a "poser", just looking for a ride to stardom...

the Trailer looks good.

Haven't seen anybody post this yet

Billboard.com is reporting that the upcoming NIRVANA box set "With the Lights Out" features 18 previously unreleased audio tracks and four video clips from the archives of venerable indie label Sub Pop, to which the Kurt Cobain-led band was signed early in its career.

Included are three LEADBELLY covers recorded in August 1989 at Seattle's Reciprocal Studios, with assistance from NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic, SCREAMING TREES vocalist Mark Lanegan and then-TREES drummer Mark Pickerel. Cobain had designs on forming a group around these players, to be named JURY OR LITHIUM, but it never materialized.

"When Lanegan was in the studio recording the [1990 album] 'The Winding Sheet', he was working with so many people," Sub Pop general manager Megan Jasper told Bilboard.com. "Kurt plays some music on that record. There were just people randomly coming into the studio. As musicians do, they'd end up goofing around and doing their own thing. In those sessions came those 'JURY' tracks, which have never been released. We've been sitting on those for a long, long time."

Quote

I'm not trying to put down Nirvana...I'm listening to them a lot these days.? They were a great punk band, I just think they were a little overrated.? Music journalists and stuff deify Kurt Cobain primarily because he's dead and his band was around at the right time.? He wrote a lot of great songs, but Nirvana albums also had a lot of filler.? I think that if Kurt was still around, Nirvana would be primarily remembered as a better-than-average punk band that crossed over into the mainstream.
Quote

Kurt Cobain was ok but he is definitely the most overated artist in the history of modern music.
