The Big Eyeball in the Sky
Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains

our grade  B

Artist / Band:  The Big Eyeball in the Sky
Record Label:  Prawn Song Records
Release Date:  September 21, 2004

Our Review:
Poor Axl Rose. First, his former Guns N' Roses pals jump ship to Velvet Revolver. Now, people working on his drawn-out Chinese Democracy disc--from guitarist Buckethead to a drummer named Brain--have shacked up with Primus' Les Claypool for his latest project. And what a nutty group it is. Claypool's distinctively nasally voice and slap bass playing make everything he does sound a lot like his old alternative band. But Eyeballs has a couple of oddball standout tracks, too, ranging from the mosh-pit-ready "Tyranny of the Hunt" to the futuristic funk of "Scott Taylor." Somewhere Axl is pouting...and probably scratching his head.

Roll Eyes? I kinda doubt that Axl is poor/pouting/scratching over any of this considering Slash/Duff/Matt were out of GNR for about 5 years before starting up VR and Brain has been working on & off with BH & Bernie since 1992 & Claypool since 1996 and Axl doesn't seem to have a problem with any members of the current line-up working on their solo stuff.

But in defense of this reviewer, mentioning Axl's name for any or no reason does seem to be the best way to get your shit noticed by a larger audience.? hihi
