Ok, I'm back with the best 90's frontman nominations thread. This is going to be so much fun!! yes

In case someone missed the previous survivor thread, this is a thread in which you will first nominate 10 frontman from the 90's, the top 10 amongst all nominations will enter our frontman survivor. Then, you will vote off one frontman per round until we have a winner. So far, the HTGTH members have voted Chris Cornell as the best 21st century frontman. Now we focus in the 90's.

A few reminders/rules before you post your nominees.

1.- 10 nominations each would be ideal. The more we have, the better. If you can't supply that many, 6 will be the minimum allowed then.

2.- Use your own judgement to decide if a frontman should be nominated for this or other decades. For Example, Axl Rose, Bono, Jagger, Jon Bon Jovi...they could fit in two or three (Jagger) decades. You will only get one chance to nominate him, so make sure you've thought where would you like to place him. If you nominate Axl Rose now, you won't be able to nominate him in the 80's survivor...I think you get the point.

3.- You can't nominate Chris Cornell as he was our previous winner. He's already entered the All time Survivor Finale.

4.- I'm gonna cut it down to 10 nominees. Last round we had 15 and it took longer than I had anticipated.

5.- Most of the nominees will be mainstream, but that doesn't mean unknown artists are not welcome. This is based on majority, but you never know. Besides, we all appreciate reading everyone's input.

6.- The frontman may also play an instrument. It doesn't have to be a pure frontman like Axl, Weiland or Morrison.

7.- Band minimum of three players please.

I think that's all. If I remember something, I'll post it later.

If anybody needs a bit of refreshing, the following is a random list I came out with in 2 minutes. There are tons of frontmen to choose from....this is just a few names I've thrown.

Dexter Holland - The Offspring
Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
Ed Vedder - Pearl Jam
Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
Damon Albarn - Blur
Sebastian Bach - Skid Row
Jonathan Davis - Korn
Fred Durst - Limp Bizkit
Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins
Liam Gallagher - Oasis
Rob Thomas - Matchbox 20
Scott Stapp - Creed
Richard Ashcroft - The Verve
Jakob Dylan - The Wallflowers
Whit Crane - Ugly Kid Joe
Dave Grohl - Foo Fighters
De la Rocha - RATM
Mike Patton - Faith No More
Thom Yorke - Radiohead
Rob Zombie - White Zombie
Bradly Newel - Sublime

....and so on, there are plenty.

C'mon people, give me your nominations so we can get this this rolling.

No point in voting for Axl, he's without a doubt the greatest frontman of all time.

Zack De La Rocha - RATM
Mike Patton - Faith No More
Kristoffer Garm Rygg - Arcturus / Ulver / Borknagar (yeah I know there's no point in naming such an unknown guy, but it's a matter of principle: Garm is friggin' legend!)
Trent Reznor - NiN
Nick Holmes - Paradise Lost
Mikael ?kerfeldt - Opeth
Nick Cave - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Fernando Ribeiro - Moonspell
Max Cavalera - Sepultura
Peter Steele - Type O Negative

EDIT: Forgot about Trent, he definitely deserves to be there.

Well, this is tricky. Solo artists are not frontman because they don't have a band to front. It reads stupid, but that's the best reason I could give you. There's a few exceptions such as Trent Reznor or Beck. NIN is a solo effort, although on tour Reznor brings his own band. Moby and Beck could be alike examples, but they don't really look like frontman. Reznor on the other hand...

Anyway, is really up to you.

I would have nominated Tori Amos. She has a touring band of three members (guitar, bass, drums), plus her (vocals, piano). So if I can nominate her, my list will be the one below. If I can't, then please take the first one I posted.? peace

ooops, I have to modify my list again, cause I forgot about Chris Robinson of Black Crowes. So no Yorke for me.

Tori Amos
Ed Vedder - Pearl Jam
Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
Sebastian Bach - Skid Row
James LaBrie - Dream Theater
Mike Patton - Faith No More
Chris Robinson - Black Crowes
Nick Cave - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

You'll get flamed for saying that on here. Definately save James for the '80s.

I liked Metallica's 90's material the best, but thats just me. I say that we should save Axl for the 80's caus think about it, AFD, best GN'R album, late 80's.

Mkay, well definately we have to have the one and only Axl Rose, but I agree with whoever said he should be for the 80's, I don't feel like looking for who said it.
And
Courtney Love- Hole
Kurt Cobain- Nirvana

How can you leave out Courtney? Huh She's so incredibly crazy!   Cheesy

I definately agree that Axl shouldn't be allowed (I like him obviously), but it's so obviously who is going to win, especially out of the '80s when there were so many other great frontman other than Axl.

Do I have to list ten?

If so, I can't be bothered.

But I'm going to say:

Mike Patton

Because he needs to be in it, and should by all rights win.

Oh, nad great to see Nick Cave mentioned! I'll second that.

I only mention the two above because I don't know if they'll both definatly get in, when they should...

I'll also add Trent, even though he will definatly be included, for fun.

Oh, and Maynard, because for some reason, he didn't win the 21st Century one. I don't know why.

Make sure you post your nomination today for those who haven't done so yet. I'll be counting your nominations tonight.

Also, by popular demand, I've decided to "vote off" Axl Rose from the nominees. This is a GNR board, so most likely he will end up winning. The purpose of this thread is to create as much uncertainty as possible so, in order to keep this thread uncertain, he is not eligible anymore until further notice. ( I might give him a wild card to enter the grand finale...who knows)

What I think it could be a good idea is to debate on whether Axl shoud've been included in the 80's or 90's survivor and why. I might start a thread in the GNR section later today about it.
