did anyone test those amps?

I'm interested in getting the spiderII model, since I have a 80W marshall (not valves) and I supose that spiderII will give me more versatile sounds...

what do you guys think about this amp ? who played with them?

http://line6.com/spiderII/see.html

there's some info

I haven't tested the one you mentioned but I did play with a Line 6 at a friend of mine. I think generally the line 6 amps are good amps which give you are great variarity of different sounds. However I'm not really fond of the sound of it. Just ain't my thing. It does sound pretty warm but it gave me the impression of a......metall direction sound. And I don't play that kinda music.... If I were you I'd stick to marshall amps. But it's all about personal preferation. I can tell you the amp sucks, but perhaps you dig it. No one can decide for you, so go to a local store and I'd say test them.  Smiley

ok I'll do that... since SpiderII model has some vintage amp models (jcm800, fender vintages...) and my marshall has not valves... made in indonesia  Sad

I have the spider 2 212 model. Is ok. Lots of different models bu you need to buy the shortboard which costs half as much as the amp itself to make it decent! Undecided
I want to get a Marshall amp. A JCM, dont really care if its a 800, 900, 2000 or whatever.

Think about your neighbours in Uruguay.....worst market ever!
About the Line 6, I?ve tested it and it sounds ok, but if you want a kind-off Slash sound, save some money and go for a marshall, the best is the best!

I recommend the Vox Valvestronix series over the Line 6 stuff. For modeling amps they sound way better IMO.

Since the topic is Line6 and at least D's concidering buying one, here's a quick version of Nightrain that I did to demonstrate what, for example the PODxt can do... I can put other samples online too if you or any other wants to hear something different, since this is only a very narrow take..

Now this is just to demo the sound.. Feedback is appreciated, but do bare in mind that both guitars were done with one take. And the drums and the base are very low quality, but that's really not what this is about. Oh and the solos.. well.. don't pay too much attention... hihi

The left channel is a JCM 800 with no real effects, just a lot of drive and some reverb.
The right channel is also a JCM 800 with a classic distortion as a stomp box. It has some reverb but no other effects.
The right channel sounds a bit "thin", but that's due my bad settings.
It was recorded through USB, though the other outputs can be used too with almost identical results (I couldn't tell the difference)

removed the link...

I'll keep it online for a few days.

« Reply #14 on: February 10, 2005, 08:04:56 AM »

i'd recomend v-ampires head and cab by behringer. way cheap and damn rockin! it's basicly a better v-amp 2.

i've got a video of me playing with a v-amp 2.

when i find out where i hosted it i'll put the link up.

btw line 6 rocks but i can only talk for the vetta 2 combo and halfstack. but those babys are way expensive.

edit:
here it is... it's badly recorded but i can get killer sounds with this. u just have to adjust it t'ill u have the sound u'r looking for

Get the POD 2.0 and a behringer FCB1010 pedalboard ... it will be cheaper then the XT Live , better amps and more flexible .. plus with the FCB you will have 2 expression pedals rather then one. IMHO the XT just doesnt sound as good as the older POD 2.X models. I've had both and had to sell my XT cause it just was not worth it.

Can you get a slash sound out of that? I play alot of Led Zepp, Skynyrd, AC/DC, GNR... stuff like that. Does anyone know if that amp would be good for this?HuhHuhHuhHuh
