he is not a jedi. he does not use the force.
it was in the earliest scripts by lucas and in several books (ep 7, 8,9 ...) and games.

Oh yeah? - watch this rofl I think i win that round Wink

http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/palpatine/ (official site)

The Emperor was a scheming ruler, planning events far in the future, using the Force to foresee the results. Palpatine allowed Rebel spies to learn of the location of the second Death Star, and foresaw their strike team and fleet assault. Palpatine crafted an elaborate trap that was to be the end of the Rebellion. He also concentrated on converting Luke Skywalker to the dark side of the Force, even at the expense of sacrificing Vader. In the Death Star, high above the Battle of Endor, Luke refused the Emperor's newfound dark side power, and so Palpatine used his deadly Force lightning to attack the young Jedi. Luke almost died in the assault, but his father, Darth Vader, returned to the light side of the Force, and hurled the Emperor into the Death Star's reactor core, killing him.

well, even if you have a strong point.
i stand by mine.
this is the official website and it is, as we can say, targeted to the mainstream audience.
i can assure you that a LOT of star wars FREAK analyse palpatine as NOT A JEDI.

and i have 2 or 3 books that says that palpatine does not use the force but something else.

for example the jedi CANNOT see the evil in palpatine ... the dark side clouds everything ? no. i think there is no force in him.

in the Heir of the Empire book, leia and luke talk about a dark jedi master (jorus c boath i think) and he is a dark jedi WITH the force... and they feel it ..... but don't feel palpatine ....

Whatever....believe what u will, it doesn't really matter, but i'm stcking with the official version - and as for putting any faith in those HORRENDOUS post ROTJ novels...well....

I read so many of them before realising i could have written better stuff without using nouns hihi

i?h?
i dont talk about the quality of the novels
but , yes, for me palpatine is not a jedi Smiley

just like in the lord of the rings fans have their own understanding about the dwarves, melkor, sauron, turin, feanor , the dragons, the valars ...

i guess lucas tried to do that too, and leave some mysterious.

what ever Smiley

What's PG-13 to an Englishman? Obviously the BBFC decide what rating it gets here, so it wouldn't necessarily be the direct alternative of what it got in America, but i think we can safely assume that a film such as Star Wars is not going to contain anything that would be less or more of a sensitive subject for Brits than for Americans. So would that make it just a PG? I thought there had already been a PG Star Wars film?

Kevin Smith has a review of Episode 3 on his website if anyone is interested:

http://www.viewaskew.com/news/sith/

I only read the first few sentences where he said the movie is "fuckin' amazing", and its what people have been bitching for since "Menace".  I'm sure the rest is littered with spoilers, so don't read it if you want to go in fresh!
