It was just reported by CNN today that Bush is being asked to explain a secret memo that said ' "intelligence and facts were being fixed" to support the Iraq war ,well before the president brought the issue to Congress for approval.'

White house still has not answered....and the gun is smoking!!!!

#1. We Americans are not obsessed with guns. A few centuries ago, owning a gun was the norm. Today, it isn't. The majority of people are ignorant and fearful of guns and don't understand the people who do know how important guns are. If anything, we need more guns.

#2. Moore and other ultra-liberals scare moderates away from the Democratic party even more than fundamentalists scare moderates away from the Republicans. That movie (and other extreme liberal media) probably cost John Kerry the election.

#3. We DO have gun laws, and they don't work. Criminals will know how to get guns because they break the law anyway. Law abiding citizens aren't going to abuse their 2nd amendment rights.

#4. Most gun deaths are accidental due to carelessness, intoxication, or poor training. This is because people don't respect guns enough. If they did, they would be much more careful with them. In hick towns like mine, we don't have gun problems, even if most people own guns.

The purpose of gun control laws is to make sure lawful people get the guns and keep them out of the hands of criminals and the insane. They aren't supposed to make guns any harder to get, that's just an unfortunate side effect of the bureauocracy. Making the laws "tougher" would only hurt law abiding citizens.

If we didn't have guns and had strict laws that punished people for having them, problem would be on the way to being solved. Naysayers would laugh at that, but the proof is in countries around the world and their low murder rates.

The laws written back in the day were to "form a militia" for locals to protect their town. Not to "bare arms" with a fucking assault riffle in the suburbs. Things are different now, and they only quote "right to bare arms" and not the remainder of the sentence/paragraph which is (purposely) misleading.

People are more likely to die from a gun shot wound than from a knife or bat. You can run away from a bat swing or knife jab, but you can't run from a bullet. My brother was hit very hard in the head with a baseball bat and he survived. He was also struck in the head with a chinese star and lived. I feel very strongly about gun violence, because my father was shot in the stomach when he was 21 years old. I'm very thankful that he's alive today, but I know that he is one of the lucky few. Most people don't live to tell.

There was a gun related crime that happened a few years ago in my town. This guy was dropping off his 12 month old daughter at his ex-wife's house. He decided to shoot his ex-wife and baby. She tried running with her daughter to a neighbor's house, but she wasn't fast enough. He shot himself after killing them. And this happened on Christmas. But I guess that was his constitutional right.

To those folks overseas, just remember: This left-wing wacko is about as representative of you, as the redneck right wing nuts are of the average american.  Just remember that when you get your news over there.

But to the answer the question: Yes, he is full of shit.  He is a propogandist that is out there to make money off of left-wingers that want some confirmation that their conspiracy theories are true.  I dont know if you have ever watched the Tonight Show, but Jay Leno will act like he is at a press conference and ask a question, and then show the answer of some politician as if it is their answer to that question, taking it completely out of context.  Jay does that for humor, but what Moore does is the same thing intended to fuel the left-wingers.

If you want specifics I suggest you look back through the threads to find them.  We discussed this stuff at length numerous times.  I doubt you will be able to find someone that will rewrite all of the arguments.  Definately not me, especially considering you havent proven yourself to be able to have a rationale debate (see quote above).

You cant make a direct comparison on rates.  On the one hand, the laws are not the same.  Other countries dont have as "criminal friendly" of a justice system as we have.  Thus, many criminals that commit crime in the US are let back out.  For example, most European countries dont have the exclusionary rule to illegally seized evidence.  In addition, other countries are much more strict about punishing for violent crimes.  We often let people back out the streets.  For those on the left that are so sick of violent crimes, I suggest that you pound harder on the liberal judges that let people back on the street and that reduce sentences.  I also suggest that you move for tougher laws.  More than anything, a good reason that we have such high crime rates is a result of the number of illegal immigrants that we let in this country without any background checks.  While a lot of them come over to work, a good portion of them are criminals.  This is a fact, and can be shown by looking at the prision numbers from any CA prison.  In addition, you cant assimilate that many poor people into a society at once and not expect crime to go up.  Guns may not help reduce crime, but they definately arent the main reason that we have higher crime rates than many other countries.

Actually, most Constitutional scholars believe that the 2nd amendment was meant to be an individual right.  Here are some of the textual reasons why your reading is wrong:  The term "Militia" did not have the meaning back in 1787 that you and many of the proponents of your view give it.  The Virginia Bill of Rights, where the phrase was taken from, defined Militia as: "the body of the people, trained to arms."  Madison also took this interpretation in Federalist 46, in saying that it provide a readily defense of liberty against the standing army that the Constitution proposed.  Also, it is an odd place to find a provision about a guarantee for a militia in a list of individual rights.
