Why does music and religion beliefs have to be mixed together?

Are you sacrificing goats, virgins, black cats, etc?  Then don't worry about it.  I don't think God has your musical choices on the top of his check list.  I grew up going to church every Sunday and Wednesday.  Oddly enough, I first heard Metallica's Ride the Lightening in church.  I think they were trying to scare from music like that but it was quite the opposite for me.
