It's better to burn out than to fade away...

« on: July 17, 2005, 02:21:36 AM »

About a month ago, out of sheer boredom really, I began watching Friends.  I'd never really watched it before, but I'd already seen all the episodes of Seinfeld, so I gave it a shot.

It seems to me that of the episodes I've seen (out of order), most of them have had included stories where people are having a baby, or expecting a baby, or awaiting a baby, or getting pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, or talking about in vitro fertilization, or delivering a baby.  Jesus Christ!  I know that a lot of women watched this show, but for crying out loud, do they really need to always be having babies on this show?

When its juxtaposed with the rubbish kicking around today - well.....

Its not as good as Seinfeld, in fact not in the same league, but its all the things you said IZ, and that always makes for good comedy.

The chemistry between Joey and Chandler is nothing sort of superb and one of the main reasons Joey(the spin off) was such a failure is because Chandler wasnt in it...

If they had done a spin off called "Joey and Chandler" it would of been huge.

i used to like it years ago, but now they only show stuff from the last few series on tv and you can count about 6 different jokes being used over and over and over again. And recently i've picked up on just how afwul the acting really is.

Friends is great, I had all episodes on DVD. Like it was said before, some episodes are definitely funnier than others, but Chandler and Joey were usually funny as hell. Ross was pretty good too when he became psychotic ("my sandwiiiich?").

Well, as more and more women in our society have problems getting pregnant and as more men seem to be sterile, i think hollywood is trying to inform through sitcoms.

Also, one actress on friends had problems having a baby, one is married to a gynecologist, etc etc..

Kinds of orientates the subjects i guess.

You know mattman, no one cares about babies, yeah, the subject seems dull, but do you think it is for couples who have a hard time conceiving and who don't have easy access to infos ?

Friends or even the bold and the beautiful for that matter, do talk of very serious issues sometimes. Shame on has to watch so much bollocks to get to it...

But people get informed.

And we all know people watch about 2 to 6 hours of daily TV, so where do they get infos from ?

Seinfield is way better than Friends.

That's not a fair comparison, Seinfeld is way better than anything on TV!

Friends is OK, not extremly funny, but I love all the characters...except maybe Pheobe

"Curb ..." is killing the first the time, but then you really can't watch it again and again ... seinfeld never gets old .....

friends is ok to watch with other people that have no humour.

Puh-leeze...don't be so judging on people who like something you don't. Because you like Friends doesn't mean you don't have humor. Don't act so "parisian bobo".

Anyway, Seinfled was the best sitcom ever on TV, period. Friends or any other sitcom doesn't stand the comparison, but I still enjoyed Friends. Fuck you to all the haters! Grin

to be honest, i think nanny fran beats the shit out of both, because fran drescher doesn't take herself seriously and that laugh, my god her laugh, got to love it. Plus, i love the surroudings in it, the people, poor NY jews + hyper posh british producer, very funny, Niles the Buttler is class act.

Both seinfeld and friends bore me, i just like chandler in friends because i have known people like him and he is, to me, the only almost could be funny charater of the lot.

Seinfeld is an aquired taste. I know many people that watched a few wpisodes, and said "What the fuck is this shit?", but after you watch more and begin to fully understand the unique humour, it's fantastic

you see, i may be vulgar in my humor, but the british Celeb, Ab Fab and Coupling do have me laughing, not seinfeld.

Seinfeld would have me smile at the best
