Ozu maintains the mood and tone without needing to portray the events that he is eliding (unlike classical Hollywood cinema which would, generally, base itself around the things that Ozu leaves out).
there are showing all Ozu's movie in a small theater in paris right now. and even if i had seen some of his work already... it's a pleasure to see it ina theater... and it's a bigger pleasure to see that i can enjoy movies still
if you can come across any of his movies. be sure to get them. they are fantastic.
i dont wanna diss today's movies... but we have so much to learn an enjoy from Ozu.
and i'm sorry, spielberg, de palma, burton, scorsese..... dont have even 0.00005 % of his talent.
