A little bit of trivia for you guys...

Mark Ford played with Ben Harper a while back. I saw Ben playing in Madrid in May/04. Marc Ford was his guitarist. I haven't seen many guitar players as skilled as this guy.

I don't know if he is still involved with Harper (Ben's site still says so) though. Speaking of which, new album "Both sides of the gun" is coming out March 21st.

I've seen him with Ben harper also.. great stuff, he is really talented. he also has a solo album which is pretty good, worth checking out:

I don't think he is doing much with Harper at this point but he did appear on 2 DVDs of Ben Harper plus the album he did with the Blind Boys of Alabama a little while back called There Will be a Light.

THE BLACK CROWES
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS
ROBERT RANDOLPH & THE FAMILY BAND
AND
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS;
NINE-WEEK TREK ROLLS OUT JUNE 10 IN SEATTLE

On the heels of CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON's three
sold-out nights of acoustic performances in New York
City to ecstatic fans and lengthy standing ovations,
THE BLACK CROWEShave announced a major summer
headlining tour with their special guests Robert
Randolph & The Family Band and Drive-By Truckers.
Launching June 10 in Seattle, the nine-week trek will
visit mostly sheds--including Jones Beach (New York),
PNC Bank (New Jersey), Shoreline (San Francisco),
Tweeter Center (Boston) and Cynthia Woods
(Houston)--as it criss-crosses the U.S. into
mid-August.

Each night of CHRIS and RICH's ?Brothers Of A Feather:
An Acoustic Evening With Chris & Rich Robinson of The
Black Crowes? has sold out within minutes after going
on sale. The two-week trek--which marks the first time
the brothers have ever performed full-length acoustic
sets in their 16-year career--concludes April 26 in
Los Angeles after a three-night stand at The Roxy.
While in New York, CHRIS and RICH performed at three
different venues: Warsaw, Rose Theater @ Jazz at
Lincoln Center and Town Hall.

"'Brothers of a Feather' is certainly a sight to
behold and a sound to endear. Although there are only
eleven dates booked for the tour, if Friday's show is
any indication, they will go down in rock and roll
history as some of the greatest performances ever
played," reports the Stony Brook Independent (4/15/06)
about the brothers' show at Rose Theater @ Jazz at
Lincoln Center.

Meanwhile, the band's first-ever DVD FREAK 'N'
ROLL...INTO THE FOG roared out of the box, debuting at
#2 on Billboard's Music Video chart. A film crew
captured THE BLACK CROWES performing five sold-out
nights at San Francisco's historic Fillmore Auditorium
in August 2005. Writing in the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
about one of the shows, Joel Selvin noted that "The
Black Crowes never sounded better than it did Saturday
at the Fillmore Auditorium, the peak performance of a
sold-out five-night run...(the band) definitely staked
a claim in these Fillmore shows as one of the last of
the classic rock bands? (8/8/05).

Since reuniting and re-connecting with their loyal
fans last year, THE BLACK CROWES have been performing
what some called "the best shows of their career."
While they achieved a career watermark by headlining
their New Year's Eve show at Madison Square Garden,
the band--Chris (vocals), Rich (guitars), Marc Ford
(guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien
(bass) and Steve Gorman (drums)--also played seven
sold-out shows at New York City's Hammerstein
Ballroom, performed five-nights at the Henry Fonda
Theatre in Los Angeles and were headliners at three of
the most prestigious festivals in America (New Orleans
Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, and Austin City
Limits Festival). Summing up the allure of THE BLACK
CROWES' concert experience, Mikael Wood of The Village
Voice (12/28/05) said the band "remain one of rock's
best live acts, as hard-grooving as during their
heyday and caked with an extra layer of rambling-man
soulfulness."

Got to see there 3 hour surprise show in Orlando a few months ago and was absolutely floored at how good they still are live. Marc Ford is a frigging guitar god.

THE BLACK CROWES GO INTO THE VAULT FOR THE LOST CROWES

Two-Disc Collection Features Sessions for
Two Unreleased Black Crowes Albums Tall and Band
Plus the DVD Debut of the Band?s 1992 Home Video

Available August 29 From Rhino

LOS ANGELES ? Twice The Black Crowes have recorded albums that were never officially released: Tall in 1993 and Band in 1997. While a few songs from these lost albums were rerecorded and released on studio albums, many have emerged only through the band?s legendary live shows. The Black Crowes recently went into the vault, collecting the best moments from those abandoned sessions for a special treat for their longtime fans. Titled THE LOST CROWES, it is a two-disc set of unreleased music that has been remixed for its public debut on Rhino. The compilation will be available August 29 at all retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested retail price of $24.98. The same day, the band?s 1992 home video, WHO KILLED THAT BIRD OUT ON YOUR WINDOW SILL, will make its DVD debut on Rhino Home Video for a suggested retail price of $14.99.

In fall of 1993 vocalist Chris Robinson, guitarists Rich Robinson and Marc Ford, drummer Steve Gorman, bassist Johnny Colt, and keyboardist Ed Harsch recorded more than 30 songs at Conway Studios in Los Angeles. Working on the follow-up to Southern Harmony And Musical Companion, the band descended into an emotional, startlingly heavy creative patch that became a stepping-stone to the 1994 album, amorica.

Named after an old jazz term for getting high, the Tall sessions contain a total of 16 unreleased tracks that offer an unflinching glimpse into rough and beautiful music born from turmoil and tension. THE LOST CROWES includes early versions of seven amorica songs such as ?A Conspiracy,? ?Descending,? ?Wiser Time? and ?Cursed Diamond.? The collection also features the undiscovered classics ?Tied Up And Swallowed,? ?Feathers,? ?Thunderstorm 654? and ?Lowdown,? a sad lost anthem that became ?Ballad In Urgency.?

Four years later, the band came off the road after headlining the Furthur Festival and went into a Nashville studio to record songs for a planned follow-up to 1996?s acclaimed Three Snakes & One Charm. Where Tall thrives on the mayhem of their young Los Angeles days, Band confidently probes some of The Black Crowes? most mature, thoughtful work.

The Band sessions contain 10 songs including a different version of the B-side ?Peace Anyway,? plus ?If It Ever Stops Raining,? a song that would become the title-track to the 1999 album By Your Side. The compilation also spotlights the taut riff rock of ?Paint An 8,? the windblown ache of ?Wyoming & Me? along with the freaky-longhaired-Mother Earth grooves of ?Another Roadside Tragedy,? ?Grinnin? and ?Life Vest.?

Paul Stacey has remixed all of the music on THE LOST CROWES, which also includes liner notes spotlighting the stories behind these legendary lost sessions as told by the Robinsons.

The Black Crowes released its first home video, WHO KILLED THAT BIRD OUT ON YOUR WINDOW SILL, in 1992 while touring for the band?s sophomore album. Rhino Home Video will release a remastered and expanded version of the video on DVD that features live performances, interviews, backstage and studio footage, videos from the group?s first two albums, and additional bonus features.
