I just got back from seeing DL at the Joint in Las Vegas. What a fuckin' show!!! This was the third time in as many years I've seen them, and this one was the best. I knew it would be. The venue is great. People were going nuts. Anyway, thought I'd share. I wish I had brought my camera, I was told I couldn't. Then when I got there everybody had their cameras it was no biggie. So I was bummed about that. Great show!!!!!!!!!!!!! peace

I took my son to see them this summer and the show did rock!  ok I tried to tell everyone, but they just teased me that they are "has beens". Roll Eyes  Well, they don't know what they missed.  We were in the front row and I was pissed that I didn't have my camera too.  I didn't even think of taking it and everyone around me had one!  Undecided

How cute. Anyway, once I heard someone calling Def Leppard:"British Metal", and I was like:"what???!!!?"......I judged them by their mid 90s(and so on) releases but then I heard their first album and that "British Metal" thing made total sense. Once, I played one of the songs from that album and my friend thought it was Maiden(British Metal).

Yea, I hate when people rag on them. My wife got tons of shit when she told people at work she was going to see them (again). Then right as we walked out of the show, into the casino, this lady looked at me and said, "Who did you just see?" and I said, "Def Leppard" and she just laughed and walked away. Why do people throw things away as soon as they aren't on the radio all the time? DL never stopped making great music  (like many other groups) actually.

People can rag all they want, but in SLC the place was almost packed. The arena. And two years before in SLC it was sold out. So what can you say? People were going apeshit at the Joint. I loved hearing "rock of ages" and "women". The guitar sounds they produce live just can't be redone on their records. I was blown away by their guitar work the night before last.

Anywho I can't wait til I'm in LV. I'll be at the joint once a month! I swear it. That's a freakin' great little venue that gets big acts.

Yeah, I hate 80s haters.  Nobody laughs at older folks who go see Chicago or the Doobie Brothers, stop laughing at us 80s codgers who like 80s music!

There were 14,000 people at the Baltimore Arena when I saw Def Leppard in April, so they certainly are far from forgotten in the fans' eyes, even if radio play implies otherwise.

Haha, shit I'd go see the Doobie Brothers if I could! I'd see Chicago too if Peter Cetera was the lead singer!

Yea, the 80's haters are strange. Most are my age, which to me is really weird. You know most of them loved these groups back in the day. I think they don't want to admit it out of pride. Like they are so above that and all grown up now. Yea whatever.

Just like you said 14k people means something! Seeing a group in SLC (of all places) where the arena is almost sold out says something too.

Anyway, it was fun as hell. Not as intense as the GnR concert I saw back there, but still one helluva concert! peace

I seen Def Leppard in Billings, MT back in 99' and they rocked! The place was sold out 9,000 strong. There were lots of young people at that show, weird.

Def Leppard rocked in late 80's and early 90's when they played Rock and in stadiums. You know Def Leppard is a stadium band, and what I have heard they won't play there anymore. Great band still today, although isn't their music nowadays little bit poprock??

I really enjoyed the mix of people at their concerts. I had younger kids in their teens, then another guy who was easily 48 right next to me. Parents had brought their kids too. I was going to bring my daughter but I thought I couldn't bring her in the joint. But then when I got there I saw two kids. So then I was bummed I didn't take her, or call and check. After it was over I realised I probably had more fun without her. lol rofl

Yea their latest album took some getting used to. It seemed to be missing guitars! Nothing real heavy that shined on the thing. I put it down and then made myself listen to it a few more times. Then I really liked it. It's not like their other stuff, it's more "adult" if that makes sense. I dont' think I would have liked it if I was 15 years younger.  I still wish it had been harder though. I still appreicated it though.

Their album before that, "Euphoria" I thought sounded like it came right out of 1988. It was great and lyrically strong with the exception of one or two songs. I listened to that album non stop for almost a year, I thought it was that good. Just as good as Hysteria IMHO.

I had a mullet just like him back in the day! hihi hihi rofl rofl

But it's wasn't called a mullet then! It was all cool in 1987!

I agree with you.  I don't like "X" - waaay too boring for me.  Good thing is that they only played one song from that album during the entire show!   It was mostly Hysteria, High and Dry, and Pyromania!  beer

Don't worry, you won't be disapointed. Just like she said, it's mostly all older stuff. They played maybe 1-2 from X, "Slang", and that was it of the newer stuff.

Tell me how you liked them after the show. You'll have a great time, promise. peace

X had a couple decent songs on it, but I hate albums that are all ballads.  Interesting, Brian Johnson (AC/DC) had this to say about that album....

"I listened to their latest album, and I was like, jeez, what the fuck happened to you guys?  You've been listening to too many suits and ties at your record label!"

hah, Brian Johnson rocks. That guy is awesome, I think he's right about this situation. X is quite different style of music than other albums they've made. Brian this one is for you  beer

yea it only has a couple good songs...I was kinda dissapointed when I bought it and listened to it..it didn't really sound like Def Leppard ( the voice's were the same, just not the sound )..just wasn't the same.

Any news on a new Def Leppard album and the direction it may take? I don't want more 'boy band' offerings like X

Did they play "Slang" at your show?  God, I hated that album!  They also played "Promises", the only great song off their 1999 Euphoria album.

Yea they played "Slang" and "Promises". And off of X they played "Now". I like promises ok on the album, but in concert that song is great.

They said the LV show was the last for the US leg. Which I didn't know until I got there, so that was cool. I think the go back to UK, but not for sure. But they are definately still touring behind X for a while.
