I think this is much like how it is when civilizations end, or when the world will eventually end. No more capitalism, people just disappearing and not really living anymore, depression. No more ideals or aspirations. No one thinks about a rebirth at all of the old values, since if the old ways were good in the first place, they wouldn't have collapsed. This is faulty logic, but its believed.
I think sociologists can learn a lot from online games.
