No, definitely not that. I guess the leadership matters. See, any organization, country, group, union and so on can't exsist without a leader. Getting Pope is similar to getting a president.

But then again there were circles that disapproved of John Paul II being appointed Pope because he wasn't Italian, so I guess some form of backlash was to be expected
